Howdy Fellas,
Hey there fellas, noob here.
I just got into Mr. Palahniuk's work, etc etc. You know how noob threads generally work.
But I come to you all with a question: Is it generally frowned upon to post pieces of your own writing in non- Writer's workshop areas?
I ask this because I would like to have a little bit of feedback from a community of writers I really dig a lot, and not just English teachers. But at the same time, I have only one piece of work I would feel I could share, and it is really short. I feel like joining the Writer's Workshop would be a step too large for me, because I am hardly a serious writer. But I was just wondering if it were possible in some way to get a little feedback in a "baby pool" type of area, and not waste peoples' time on a non-paying member.
Or perhaps it is too late, and I just wasted a perfectly good thread.
Well, too late now I guess, but thanks for reading anyway!

jesus, nate. hahaha. not even one nice thing to say. come on, you have to admit after reading that post that this new member had some balls to post that question in that way. when i got here, i was terrified of the workshop. and the whole thing was free back then. not quite as advanced, then, and the navigation kinda blew.. but it was free, and i was still nervous as shit to post my work.
change colors, the blogs are for personal vents, not so much personal fictions. and people have been using that feature lately for random nothingness, really. kind of floods the boards. so when a member seeks the "current" posts and gets a slew of blogs that are only really interesting to the authors of those blogs, it gets quite annoying, having to circumvent a path around them to find the real content of the community forum proper. and fan submissions is for more along the lines of anecdotes as a fan, like you met a guy/gal at the movies and he was wearing a chuck palahniuk t-shirt, or you had an experience at a reading or other chuck event.
fan submissions, verbatim:
We accept everything from pictures of your Fight Club tattoos, to your 110 page college thesis about Choke, to a picture of you wearing a Cult shirt on TV somewhere! Original writing submissions should be submitted to our Writers Workshop.
as for the workshop, it is not strictly for the serious writer, but it is for anyone seriously trying to improve their writing. it is peer feedback, and you will have to craft reviews for others. but if you arent afraid of a little work, you will certainly improve your writing. even if you do not have serious desires to becoming a novelist. many members joined just to improve their writing on a personal level. hell, i started just to improve my own writing to family and friends. odd now, a few years later, that i write almost daily and seldom send letters to family and friends ahhhaha
sorry, but we are really trying to keep writing/feedback in the workshop and off of the boards. too much time effort and money has gone into the workshop this year and its separation from the forum makes it more private, which is something most workshop members prefer.
anyway. welcome to the cult.
so a little more please..
what are some of your favorite writers ?
how did you find the place, word of mouth or a search engine ?
go to school, finish school, or care not for school ??
oh, and have fun. this place has character !

Hello and Welcome
Brother or Honky?
Chick or Dude?
Cujo or Churchill?
Barcelona or madrid?
Aye fellas.
I won't post in blogs; I kinda sensed this place wasn't quite livejournal, ya know?
I considered posting in the fan submissions thing, but read the description, and sorta felt that posting there would be getting off on the wrong foot.
I'll look into the workshop a little more. Sounds fun, especially since I just started reading all the time again. I'll poke around on the forum a little more and maybe try the workshop.
Thanks for the greetings. I mean, this is the nicest cult I've ever joined. The last guys made me drink baby blood on day one.
As for writers... Prepare to be underwhelmed..
Kurt Vonngeut, Cormac McCarthy, Ernest Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, and Stephen Marche.
See, told you all I was still in the baby pool!
Its kinda like saying, yeah, Pink Floyd and The Beatles are my favorite bands.
And I found about this place after reading Chuck's Wiki page(After watching Fight Club for the 4573948th time). When I read that he replies to nearly all fan mail and includes a weird object, and that he has a writer's group called the Cult, well, I just had to check that out....
Still In school. Junior High. I know my age would suggest otherwise, but I lied cause I thought the board might censor stuff based on the info I filed.
And as for your questions, Mr. Barca Boy,
I would go with Brother, because I am a brother in real life. I don't know what Honky is...
I am a dude.
Cujo, because he is a badass killer dog.
And Barcelona. I haven't been to madrid, but Barcelona is a nice city. They have delicious seafood Paellas too.

Personally, i despise it when people post their stories poetry or whathaveyous outside of the workshop. For the most part, it all is just chuck-inspired pablum.
But you can go ahead and post yours if you want. Just don't expect a ton of in-depth reviews for it. Every now and then someone will give a good one if they get a wild hair up their ass, but not often. Posting this thread first might even give you a leg up and getting some serious attention.
Just please post it in the fan submission forum or something. Not as a blog. For the love of God, not as a blog! These people are killing me with shitty blogs lately.
Good luck.
