I picked up Haunted from the library a couple months ago back, I have absolutely no idea what inclined me to look into Palahniuk's work but I'm damn grateful for doing so. I finished it within two days and immediately recognized him as an author with talent to provoke thought and disturb me whilst doing so. After, I read Diary and bought Survivor, which was forgotten about and sat on my book shelf for a month or so. Recently I was assigned a book report in English, I remembered previously mentioned abandoned Palahniuk book, I finished it a week or so ago, was led here for an explanation of the ending and decided I may as well join.

I'm a freshman, 14 years old, despite the majority of kids my age I'm not an idiot. Feel free to try and corrupt me, but I'm already rather screwed up. I also like Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut, Anthony Burgess, Augusten Burroughs, Douglas Adams, etc; I'm always open for suggestions. Currently I'm reading Choke by Chuck Palahniuk, Generation X by Douglas Coupland and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

Not yet, I've only read A Clockwork Orange after seeing the movie (both great, the book obviously the better of the two) and I've been meaning to look into his work a bit more but haven't gotten around to it.

Dude, I'm 16. I love Harry Potter, so lay off.

Welcome! I'm glad to see a 14 who isn't an idiot.

I've read all of Chuck's stuff, and I'm still more excited for HP7 than Rant. That's just the way I am.

(I must say though, I do hate those stupid girls who always read Tamora Pierce and all those stupid Broomsticks and Bra books for "teens." Teen books suck. Harry Potter is an exception though. So, give me a break, ok?)

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Harry Potter, it's a cute series. I'm saying it bothers me that the majority of people I know haven't read, or heard of, or considered reading anything besides it.

True that.

Cute Series? We're going to need to talk about this some other time.

Adelheid is 14 isn't she? I hope you're not as bratty as her.

By the way, I had a girlfriend named Becky with whom I bought a dildo. Sweet dreams.

Why'd you buy your girlfriend a dildo? That's like telling her you'd rather have sex with herself than with you.

Well, it's that kind of shit that "teen" girls are supposed to read. It is sad, isn't it?

So I could eat her out while she played with the dildo. Yes, at the same time. Yes, it was good for her.
She kept the dildo after we broke up. Which is good, because I wouldn't want to be caught with a dildo in my drawer.
Plus, this was at boarding school, and she was the academic dean's daughter, and the scandal would have been very very very tough to handle.

A clockwork orange is a classic, in film and literature..i didnt really like the "long lost Ending!" that my book had, without that it ended with a punch in the dick, with the "long lost Ending!" it felt too happy and yay! ish

The wanting seed is far far different though, think of the same futuristic world as a clockwork orange, but more normal characters, more standard language and some cannibalism.

Got to say a belated welcome to Becky, as my bf hails from Syracuse as well. Also, oddly, my mom graduated from SU. My fate seems inextricably tied to that city. I hear you guys have the most polluted lake in the country.
