hello, i am new here...
...hence the "new member's welcome center" posting. always looking to meet interesting people that share my interests, and i feel like this is one of those places. i started reading chuck a bit late, and i actually picked up one of his books (haunted) for the first time a year ago. i was horrified. horrified and hooked.
anywho, a bit about me i suppose. i recently graduated from graduate school and as job prospects aren't so great, i'm kind of in limbo at the moment. seems like the perfect time to submerge myself in these forums.
i look forward to meeting new people and getting lost here.

Welcome
What are your favorite movies? What kind of music have you been into lately?
Hello new girl Tara.
Noah should be along shortly with all of the questions you must answer to graduate from cult new members school.
i await my test anxiously...
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
i like movies that make me laugh mostly. stupid funny movies. i love bridesmaids, anchorman, wet hot american summer, hot rod, zoolander, and stuff like that. i also enjoy a good psychological thriller. i love a good twist ending.
my musical tastes are pretty diverse. i like a bit of everything (with the exception of country music), but my most favorite bands are incubus, scissor sisters, and muse.

Gasoline Fight!
This is why we can't have nice things.

Thank you Pepper.
So lets get started.
The temperature is around 100 and the air is dead still, no gentle breeze, and the shade is all dried up. You are out on the patio of some hole in the wall diner, having a sandwich and trying to decide if you want to attempt a smoke in this heat. The waitress comes up, trying to avoid the glare of the blistering white patio furnature. She asks If you want anything else.
What is her name.?
As your attorney, my advise to you is to start drinking heavily(er).-Tuffy
Also please give me your interpretation of
I see you dancing, damn you look good.
I wish I could dance like that, but I can't.. cos I have no legs.
I see you fucking, damn you look good.
I wish I could fuck like that, but I can't.. cos I have no penis.
I see you shitting, damn you look good.
I wish I could shit like that, but I can't.. cos I have no butthole.
Ohh The Scissor Sisters.

Damn why didn't I get fancy questions when I joined?
Welcome, Tara!
Becuase I was not around when you joined. I will think of a very fancy question for you.

Okay but I didn't get the sandwich one either. And then I was told it was a classic.
first of all, i wouldn't in my right mind be eating on a patio in 100 degree heat. i also don't smoke, but i'll play along because i feel like that's the point of this.
her name is wanda.
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
you are a ghost.
ohh the scissor sisters indeed.
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
You must now wait by with tremulous anxiety while we discuss your grade and let you know if you pass.
What do you think about the name Cujo for a cat?

will flattery get me anywhere...?

Tara, there's a quote button(bottom - right), which makes it easier to figure out who you're talking to.
I don't think I've seen any of the movies you mentioned by the way, haha.

not so much.
i appreciate you taking the time to try and expand my musical taste, but it's a lost cause.
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
Saying it's a lost cause just encourages him.
i appreciate you taking the time to try and expand my musical taste, but it's a lost cause.
How can you have no appreciation for an entire genre of music that's been around for a century? Not that I especially like country music or even prefer it to any other genre, but I just don't believe you. There's a certain silliness to the entire genre that would otherwise not even be in the world, lines like lazy yeller moon comin' up tonight, who else would, could write that but a hick? The American frontier captured in folk songs, the depressed ravings of a love-starved No Show Jones, the blatant ridiculousness of songs like the Auctioneer and Third Rock From the Sun--Loretta Lynn's albums display her entire life, from a coal miner's daughter to a rich and successful, married woman, and even that womanhood as it grew and changed is revealed in her lyrics. Cowboy hats, trucks, people cheating on each other, hard working good ol' Americans and little girls next door, drunken rednecks fighting and drinking and shooting at each other. I mean, Patsy Cline is depressing, but nothing is that depressing, she has her own brand of depressing that sometimes fits a movie soundtrack better than anything else. Not liking country is like not liking the smell of a skunk. That shit stinks, man. Ain't nothin' stink like that.
dang it.

i just don't love country.
all i'm saying is when i'm flipping through the radio stations, i'll continue flipping if i come across a country song.
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
If you were a bear, what kind of bear would you be and why? Also what would you use for transport?
As your attorney, my advise to you is to start drinking heavily(er).-Tuffy
i would be a care bear and i'd jump clouds and ride rainbows to travel from point a to point b.
despite my cynicism, i still harbor dreams of saving the world.
i forgot the why, but i think that really goes without saying.
