My name is gonshiramushiyo.
I am a Japanese independent filmmaker and one of very few reader in Japan.
Nice to meet you.
In Japan, Chuck's novels have not been published or translated since "Guts", 2004.
I have already gotten tired of waiting for next novel being translated into Japanese.
So I have translated Chuck's untranslated novels into Japanese by myself.
In order of publication, I barely translated 2 novels last 2 years.
For now, my favorite work is "Haunted"
I wish I could read or write or hear or speak English very well.
This is "Choke" Japanese edition.
It is shameful a little reading in public.
In token of our new acquaintanceship because it was not in the gallery.

If there are no Japanese translations and you took the time to translate a couple then you should talk to some Japanese publishers and see about translating his books for other people to be able to read there.
Would be a great job to have, I would think.

I've always been curious about this, but never thought to ask it before. What do the Japanese people think about Godzilla? Is he a joke over there or is he some sort of national hero, like our George Washington?

From I have seen "spam-jin" written by Tuffy, my imaginary fat man smiling and bedaubing spam to his body doesn't go out of my mind.
Kudo or Kudos, basically means Good Job or Hooray For You.
Welcome to the cult. I keep having to start this welcome over because I keep writing things that could be confusing slang to you.
My grandpa lived in Japan as a child, from the age of about 9 to the age of 18, I think. He spoke Japanese, and though I never knew if he was completely fluent, I was always impressed by him speaking and understanding the language well enough (better than me at least) He used amuse me by saying things I asked him to say in Japanese.

One of the reasons I confused "Kudo" is, it is one of the family names which is often in Japan. Perhaps, your grandfather might know that.
It's second surprise that "Hooray" is English after I have examined it in the dictionary. Because it is Japanese by now. The meaning is also same as English. A word of the assistance echoing in volleyball stadium.

Actually, I'm going to do that. I have translated for my film production in its origin, therefore, I have written it down in Japanese. But it seems to be difficult.
Chuck's 5 fiction novels were published by one of major publishers in Japan and rest of his works weren't even translated except "Guts". The point is that it didn't make much money to the publisher.
But the reaction is splendid when I make my friends reading Chuck's work translated. It's not only way to publish translated works. So I'll keep on trying.
I think you could divid roughly the Godzilla series into three. Initial, middle term, and latter term.
Initial Godzilla is a symbol of the atomic bomb and war and disease, and an object of fear and abhorrence. Middle term is children's hero. He destroys cities, while he knocks down bad monsters. Latter term is a hybrid of those two elements. I was seeing later term as a child, but I think there are various interpretation of Godzilla for the each generation because it is a series that has continued for 50 years.
Godzilla is, so to speak, a white canvas. What is drawn depends on people in each age.
However, no one have drawn Founder Prime Minister or Emperor on it ever. I'm interested in that idea.

I speak no Japanese, and would never make fun of anyone's grammar who's bilingual since I am not. I will, however, start using this phrasing whenever someone asks me a silly question.
