Hello from a College Dropout
Hey...
Grades were going downhill so my parents pulled me out of college for a semester. Not sure when I'm going back. I live in a small town, and right now there are no jobs. So I'm essentially just sitting around all day bored out of my mind. All my friends are at college. Life sucks....so I've resorted to posting on an internet message board.
Books: I like Chuck, Hemingway, HS Thompson, Vonnegut and others.

I recommend working full time until YOU have to motivation to go back to school. thats what I did. College was not for me right out of highschool, I had some growing up to do (socially speaking). So I've been working fulltime for 4 years and have recently starting going to school part time. Made me actually understand reason in going to college
I don't know...it's complicated...but I had a bit of an emotional freak out in college, was partying too much, etc.
I also felt like I wasn't doing the courses I wanted (Film, English, etc) because they weren't 'practical'.
Your college experience shouldn't be wasted on practical things.

Yeah, whenever I go back, I'm going to completely follow my interests.
I'm studying Organic Chemistry. Synthesis of Grignard Reagents! Yay!!!
No person should ever be stuck in an ennui.
As my main man Maynard J. Keenan says, "Boredom's not a burden anyone should bear."
Welcome.

I was training to be an EMT for some weird reason. I have no interest in the medical field.
Organic Chem...that's rough.
welcome! instead of returning to college join my pirate crew!

Hi! Yes, definitely study what you want to. I starting off doing nursing at uni because it seemed like a good practical choice - I lasted 6 months (as it turns out I don't love blood, who knew?) before changing to Lit and Cultural Studies.
That's like me exactly. As I was studying for my EMT, I was working on a volunteer ambulance squad....and looking back on it...I really can't see why I did it. Medical stuff bores me, I'm not big on gore, etc.

Strangers with this kind of honesty make me go a big rubbery one.

This sounds familiar, but not too much so. Enjoy your stay here. And do, stay, that is.

Hi Harris. Welcome to this place. If you look carefully, you may find here what you are looking for. So do you actually even want to be in college?
