Hello & a quick question
Hi,
My name's Nick and I'm a first time poster.
Just wanted to say a quick hello and to mentioned that I've really enjoyed reading through Chuck's 36 'How To' Writing Essays. I found this site through Wikipedia around essay #31, and have read essays 31-36. Are there going to be other free essays in the future?
Thanks, Nick.
Hey Nick, nice to meet you! Not sure about the free essays, but I recently paid the $40 and am not regretting it. Those early essays are the bees knees.

"What cha readin' fer??"
how did this slip right on by ?..
hey, nick,
how have you been a member since august and this has been your only post ?..
dont be afraid to get involved, is all i'm saying. there's a whole lotta booktalk here, and quite a few discussions on writing theory.
as for essay goals, that nail was hit perfectly by t.i.
chuck didnt want to keep doing the same thing. he's already offered thirty-six essays on his craft, and this year he aims to work with his red pen and help as much as he can the writers who spend time with their stories and with this site. instead of an essay each month, he's going to review five stories. everyone can see his thoughts on those stories. then, at the end of the year, he aims to publish a collection of the best stories of this year and write an introduction for the anthology, and publish it with his own money, out of his own pocket. so this year, he's certainly stepping up to the plate and challenging you and others to do so as well.
here's the post chuck made:

I'm not an official voice for the workshop or the cult, but my understanding is that from here through the next year Chuck's going to be taking stories people are workshopping and critiquing them himself, helping people further hone their writing skills. I think the process of watching an established author fine tune actual written pieces will be just as, if not more, valuable than how-to essays.
Welcome to the cult, by the way. Enjoy your stay
