I am new to this forum. Would like to say hi and hope to chat with fellow like minded people. I am not a big blogger but will check in every once in awhile.
At the moment writing some poetry, short stories, and lyrics for some bands. After a long hiatus of not writing I am back pounding the keys. So just getting started again and really enjoying just writing whenever.

Other than that I stay home with my crazy children. It is a zoo at this house.

I live in Florida. Hopefully the oil disaster won't come to my neck of the woods. 
Yeah that really sucks. I used to live in FL. I miss the beaches. I have family down here in Galveston and its most likely going to be ruined.

welcome to the cult. good luck with the writing. ive found that if i hiatus for a few months or more, getting back into it sucks for a good few weeks. you literally have to write shit for almost a month before your thoughts become clear again and you can again acquire decent pacing.
hope to see you in the workshop someday.

So true about the writing. You take a break and your mind is mush. I have children and that makes it worse. I can be writing something and they interrupt me for a juice or the like. So then I stay up late and become a Mommy zombie the next day. I can't win. Would like to do writing workshop in the future. Right now I don't feel comfortable with brutally honest criticism. I would probably take any bad criticism the wrong way since I am a sensitive person. Flip out and never write again ha ha. Go in a deep black depression and tell myself I am not worthy. Start drinking every night whilst listening to the Smiths and the Cure with a tear in my beer. So will skip that until further notice and return to a workshop at a later juncture.
My myspace is private but you may feel free to friend me. I go on Myspace mostly to listen to my playlists and talk to bands. I guess it isn't trendy anymore so everyone must be on Facebook and Twitter. Oh well who cares...I just listen to music 'til my ears bleed everyday and go on the unpopular Myspace.

the workshop is more than criticism on your work. reviewing the work of other certainly goes a long way toward becoming more conscious in your own work. when you review twenty stories in a couple of weeks' time and you'll likely not make the same mistakes in your work as youve pointed those weak points in others. i have gotten far more out of reviewing submissions than i have out of critiques of my own work here over the years.
plus the whole 36 essays on writing. the first twelve are i think the most potent for the novice. definitely consider it.
