Guess What?
My name is Ashley, and I'm new here. I'm a English Literature Major at a small state college. Someday I hope to make writing my profession, just as soon as I develop some sort of talent.
So, there's a little bit about me, and fair warning that I'm here.

it looks like trebuchet. i use that in my email sig. email sigs are the new business card.
welcome. Do tell us something, like ... would you ever hook up with Willy Wonka? You know ... if you were drunk and he started hitting on you at a party and one thing lead to another ....
Which one? Depp or....oh crap. What's the other guy's name!
There is hope, but not for us.
Gene wilder or Jonny depp? It makes a difference.
WE HAD THE SAME THOUGHT AT THE SAME TIME, BUT I REMEMBER THE OTHER GUY'S NAME.

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
Yeah, Wilder!
[I hate myself]
There is hope, but not for us.
I'm using lots of caps in here, sorry. Chaos, what is your roommate like? Would you kill her if paid? Or are you friends?

Brentinlouis Wrote: What was that rule about being intentionally annoying?
i want to say, the idea of Willy Wonka .. like who YOU think he is. If that's Johnny Depp -- then lucky you!!
My willy wonka is angelina jolie and she tastes of chocolate

ramblers.
HEY, Ash. Welcome to the Cult. How did you find the place and what are some of your favorite writers ? I understand you're an English lit major, but when do you prefer ?
Herman Melville or Hemingway and Gastby, or maybe more contemporary like JD Salinger, perhaps up to Mark Richard and Amy Hempel? Or maybe a little further back with Flaubert and Turgenof (sp.) ?
Perhaps we can assume that you are not only familiar with Chuck Palahniuk but also like his work.. What other contemporary authors do you love? Do you remain pretty faithful to satire or do you pretty much love all compelling characters ?
what do you enjoy writing about? Fiction or journalism, or editorials maybe ?
What do you enjoy about writing, in general ?
yeah, i too love to ramble from time to time.
Well.. that should get us started. Again, welcome to the Cult.

Do people actually use an email signature?
I only know one person who uses one but it always makes me smile:
Love, [insert aunt's name here]
...is yours anything like that?
Who shot the pups.

Hi, Ashley! What is it exactly that makes you want to become a professional writer? What makes you tick, you know? And how is school treating you so far?
Do people actually use an email signature?
in business, almost everyone does. Mine even has a legal disclaimer at the end.

Hey, I go to a crappy state college. That, or I just type fast and don't edit well.
I would totally fuck J. Depp as Willy Wonka or as that pirate Jack whatever.
I used to have a roommate. My car caught on fire after she moved out (on really bad terms) and her boyfriend worked on it. Like minutes after, with my Dad in it. No one was hurt...yet.
So, I live alone now. Well, I have a basement to myself.
I like to write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and opinion pieces. I would like to get more into journalism.
I love Hemingway! Actually I have a quite broad taste in literature. I am a great Shakespear fan, I love Joseph Conrad (Heart Of Darkness), right now I'm reading Bleak House by Dickens. I also like a lot of contemporary authors (Chuck Palahniuk of course) and a few others.
What makes me tick? Even I don't want to know, but whatever it is, its worked for me so far.
Anything else you want to know about me, I am happy to answer (if I can).
And thank you all for the warm welcome. As soon as I can afford it, I would love to get into the writer's workshop thing.
~~Ashley
I am a great Shakespear fan,
I've often wondered why they chose to spell Shakespeare without the E in that band Shakespear's Sister. I want to tell myself that it represents something, but I simply cannot figure out what.

See, I type fast and edit badly.
Maybe it represents that they do the same.
See, I type fast and edit never.
No, I was being serious. I don't care about your typo, it happens, but why remove the E from Shakespear when naming your band? What does it all mean?

Hmm...Maybe they wanted to stand out from any other bands with Shakespeare in the name. Or, it could have something to do with Shakespear's Sister being female, and therefore would be missing something that Shakespeare had? Or is that just way too Freudian?

It's Freudian enough for me!

If anything removing the 'e' would make the name more masculine, maybe they wanted to emphasise the 'sister'

Who cares? What is this, 1994?
1992?
