Good day.. ladies ; )
My name is Tyler.
I will use this thread to talk about myself.
Alot. I won't always talk thisss much about myself, yet, this is a great oppurtunity to do so.
My user name is Fox.
I am from Mississippi, oh yes, the deep south. It's not all that bad really, once you get used to the monotony of Guy Harvey t-shirts, the dialect, four wheeler riding, and the dramatics of small towns.
No idea where this personality has spawned from.
Heaven maybe?
It helps me stand out though, in a town full of conservative, simpletons.
I am a sophmore at USM, an entertainment industry major minoring in either journalism or English.. I have to make that decision probably this school year. I've become more interested in writing than music lately.
i'm a drummer for a decently popular local band.
Remember that show Captain Planet? What was up with that?
I read a decent bit, I only date girls who've read more than two books in their lives, magazines don't count. The rest.. I still show 'em a good time, they might just be arm candy for that evening though.
Roccos Modern Life was a great show.
Monday through Wednesday I kick ass.
Thursday through Sunday I take names.
Favorito Authors: Besides the obvious. Baer, Vonnegut, Clevenger, Ellis, Hemmingway.. eh.. some more. I have a pretty ecclectic taste.
I think the moon may be a space ship driven by robotic veloceraptors.. and they're just waiting..planning.
Eh.. I'm done.
I love Demitri Martin jokes. (:
Hey, I'm Taylor. I'm from North Carolina. Nice to meet you.
You think you're elitist? I only date girls who've WRITTEN more than two books in their lives.
Magazines don't count!

what a dick!
You think you're elitist, Phil ? I only date girls who've interviewed Chuck at least twice in their lives !

You think you're elitist, Ludwig? I only date girls who managed to convert Chuck to the straight side... twice.

Do you have a Southern Drawl? I love Southern drawls.

I do! (:
Hahaha. You can tell in my youtube videos. Eek.
Should I adopt a southern drawl? I think it would make me more charming, or something.
There is hope, but not for us.
I wasn't trying hard, I just felt like rambling semi coherently.
My first post was going to be.. Enough about me, let's talk about you.
But.. nah.
Montegomery eh? I'm from Southern Mississippi, about as southern as it gets, right off of the beach actually. I live in a town called Long Beach.. pretty close to the AL/ MS border actually.
No, I don't have a southern drawl.. which is odd because my parents slightly do.
Go for it Jane, It just might up the charm factor. Or.. dare I say.. The adorableness factor?? hmmm.
Is Cujo a good name for a cat?
It's a great name for a cat.
Once the other cats hear that name, they will know that your cat ain't one to fuck with.
I always disliked animals with people names..
Like Tom, or Bill or Susan.
Silly people..
Those aren't cat names.
I can't find my left arm anywhere.

Did you check the last place you had it?
I can't find my left arm anywhere.
this made me laugh quietly to myself
Did you check the last place you had it?
What the fuck? Why did I leave it next to my right arm? How was I supposed to tell them apart without wikipedia?
thanks for sharing.blackhawk tactical pants.

Not sure. Glad I could help, the right left thing can be tricky.

i'm not even sure which is reallyyy left or right these days either.

hey, tyler. welcome to the cult.
who do you read: chuck? clevenger or baer? hempel or denis johnson or mark richard ?
also, is martini your drink of choice, or just vodka. personally, i seldom touch the stuff. i'm a bourbon man, and when the burn from the limestone grates my thinking process too terribly, i switch to scotch. (that's tonight.)

Hello.
I have been allured to Chucks style for years now, I haven't read all of his books yet, re read choke and read lullaby this summer. Didn't take much interest into him or my writing till this spring.. when I wasn't taking any English courses, I compensated by writing and reading more than usual. Haven't stopped since.
Ever since I've been drawn more to Chuck s work and all the authors discussed on the site/forums etc..
I heard about Baer from lurking around these parts, his work is nearly poetic, I'm still looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy when I get the cash and awaiting Godspeed to come out. Same goes with Clevenger.
I'm familiar with the other three, but haven't gotten into them that much, lately. (I have perused Jesus' sons though, killer). I've had quite the busy summer, and i'm just getting into reading alot, finding out what I like.. same with my writing.. which.. is strange I guess. I guess I've just caught the bug of some sort, found what I like.
I do enjoy Martini's, when I feel all classy, but I'm a broke college student so cheap liquor drinks and beer usually do it for me haha. I was raised around booze, my grandparents owned a bar, I basically grew up in it. I usually prefer vodka over liqour.. I usually have one or two to "take the edge" off, but I'm not that huge of a drinker.. unless i'm in a somewhat destructive mood.
Nice meeting you as well.
lol.
My half brother has one.
(My mom put him up for adoption before myself and my other siblings were born, he contacted us 3 years ago.. etc etc he's all grown up and married and stuff, we're all close now.. yay, cute, cliche etc..)
Which is funny, because none of my family really has one..
but when he comes and stays for the weekend my mom mysteriously gets one.
I've been living in semi rural Florida for a year, and am about to move to South Carolina. Eventually I WILL be converted, it's just a matter of time.
There is hope, but not for us.
i dont know, jane..
i'm from tacoma, was and i've lived in little rock since november of 1994 and i still have people consistantly asking me where i'm from because i have an accent
oddly enough, though, the most common guess is a question: are you from New York ?
some things dont fade, no matter where you go.

People never seem surprised when I say I'm from Nebraska. They occasionally look guilty or saddened for me, however.
There is hope, but not for us.
no worries. most people i know dont know much about nebraska. including myself and my woman.
i may of course be wrong, so i'll in the next few days start randomly asking people what they know about neb
just because

Okay, I'm a fellow whiskey man, but I'm gonna break this down once and for all. A martini is gin and vermouth. I can let calling vodka and vermouth a vodka martini, but the next person who tells me "I LOOOOOVE martinis" and the mentions a brand of vodka is getting slapped with my Elitist Glove. No, that is not a martini. Nor is the chocolatey trendy thing that metrosexual bartenders strain into martini glasses at yuppie bars.
\rant.
Curious, kabol, what's your bourbon/Scotch of choice? A big fan of both, but I've been looking lately to try different brands.
Should I adopt a southern drawl? I think it would make me more charming, or something.
Depends. Do you mean a deep south drawl or that upper-south, aristocratic belle sounding drawl? 'Cause one's hot, the other sounds like you fix tractor trailers while the kids run around the broken down cars in your yard in nothing but overalls.
And: Yay for no multiquote!
well, perhaps it's an arkansas memphis and louisiana thing, but the only time i've ever heard of a gin martini is when someone special orders it at a bar. martinis are always vodka unless otherwise specified. not that i care. i dont like gin or vodka. i'm a semi selective alcoholic.
as for bourbon. the best i've come across is bulleit bourbon. i swear it is clean, clean. i can drink a fifth and wake up the next morning at seven am feeling clear. i've done so countless times. as for scotch, i've been banking on grants, which is a slightly lower brand than dewers. prefer fiddich, but alas the bank does not..

Effin' alcoholic!

I have the second one (:
And no Jane, I don't think you should adopt one. You're charming without one.
And also, I regret to inform you, but I know nothing of Nebraska.

Yeah, if I can't have whiskey, microbrew, or red wine, my next choice is gin, so I've become fairly contemptuous of vodka martinis. No taste, I tell you, no taste at all.
Bulleit! That's what it is. I remember someone over at the elvet-vay recommomending that (you, probably). Will have to check it out. Price looks about like a fifth of Jameson (one of my current favorites), which is doable. Dewar's has been on the to-try list for a while.
And Derek, I prefer "conesseuir."
And Derek, I prefer "conesseuir."
fancy word for alcoholic, drunky
Perhaps. I live in as south in Mississippi you can go though.
So i'm as deep as it gets for MS.
..Right on the beach, literally.
But, once you get this south, its not really "country" "redneck" ish.. It's more beachy, tourist like town.. or a "bedroom" town for people who work in New Orleans.
Then again, you go north from the beach about 15 minutes and you're in fields and pastures.
quite the diverse area, really.
That's a lot the way it is here. I can drive 10 minutes one way and be on an island with 10 million dollar homes on the beach, or I can drive the other way and chill with gap-toothed strawberry farmers. Guess which one I'm more comfortable with.
There is hope, but not for us.
I read all the thread and was going to say hello but then remembered the I only date girls that have read two books or more comment and the drivel about arm candy and thought what a cunt.
There are no pacts between lions and men.
I'm in Texas and probably in deeper south than you.
Oh! You've been 1-up'd!
Texas is nothing but miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles.
Nate, remember the Alamo.
There are no pacts between lions and men.
My first thread was SO epic.

No shit and I missed it.

Well you're here now Min, and that's all that matters.
BTW, go to bed.
It's far past your bed time.
Dude, I just woke up!

In that case, perhaps I should go to bed.
Haha.

Good morning,
by the way.

Dude dont try so hard.
Greetings from Montgomery Alabama!
