fun
I'm new and I really like it.
I've read two of Chuck Pahlaniuk's books so far -- Fight Club and Lullaby -- and I'm in the middle of Choke. I have Survivor and Invisible Monsters waiting for me. Haven't picked up Dairy yet. If I could figure out a way to read at work for more than five minutes at a time, I would have them all read by now.
Chuck Pahlaniuk has reinvented the sentence. I greatly admire the way he creates characters that lacerate sentiment in way that is so honest and believable. Can't wait to finish the rest.
Any pointers on reading at work and keeping your job?
Also, get yourself a copy of the March 2004 copy of Playboy if you haven't already, and read Chuck's short story "Guts". Then, go to your local video store and rent the Chuck Palahniuk Documentary. If they tell you that they haven't got it, scream "Well you'd better get it if you know what's good for you!" look over your shoulder, say "Let's get outta this dump" to your imaginary friend, and saunter casually out the door.
That ought to keep ya busy for a little while.
I just buy them for the articles. The playboy magazines, that is.
At work, they stuck my desk in a hallway, (I don't have a cubicle) so it's pretty tough to goof off, but i'm working on it.
I just read the best part so far in Choke, where victor is with the women who asks him to perform the "rape" scenario. Some of the funniest stuff I've read.
reading at the job advice;
read on break time.
go to the bathroom.
print something, as it prints, wait by the printer, and read
Photocopy the book in secret and then read the photocopied pages, pretending that they're work. Highlight occasionally.
There is hope, but not for us.
The bathroom thing works ok, but you can usually only disappear for about 20 minutes or so. And men's bathrooms aren't exactly the best alternative to sitting at your desk. If you've never been in one, then you'll have to trust me.
photocopying seems good. might try that.
almost done with Choke. Should be done by the weekend. Either survivor or invisible monsters goes next.
saw "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind." It's a love story, but I really liked it. I won't give anything away, but don't read the reviews, it'll fuck everything up for you. don't mind jim carrey and kate winslet. put your faith in charlie kaufman.

oooo! the clipboard! or maybe a deluxe leather planner. that'll work, i bet.
dude, how do i get the playboy issue, IM NOT 18!
^do you want the articles or ogle section?
you can get somebody to buy it for you! people are usually dying to corrupt the youth. Just make sure it's not your dad, because then you might have to have the dreaded "talk."

She has succumbed the lure of the Dark Side.
Not that that's a bad thing though. I prefer the Dark Side myself.

I'll corrupt YOU! All I'll need is 10 minutes and a bottle of tequila.

I like the Dark Side much better, too, but I keep hearing the voice of a small woman telling me, "Go into the light Brakky Anne...go into the light."

If you're a bus driver or something, I rather discourage it.
Welcome, by the way. Glad you're enjoying the books.
