everybody - WHY DID YOU SIGN UP HERE???
Tell the whole world... Why r u here?
I dont mean like a bio. - what is it about this forume that originally made you sign up
Just a few quick simple reasons. here, Ill start.
Hello. My name is Johnathan
I have recently started posting here because there are some humorous people that roam these boards, and most every person reads. a lot. I like being able to ask about Bukowski, or Ellis, or Kerouac, et ceterea.
That is the reason that I signed up What is your excuse?

i was researching chuck at work, found the site, and became bored.
chuck and the fact that society can no longer function without the internet....
it's not the prize that makes the chase fun
Free t-shirt
free t-shirt?! Where'd you get a free t-shirt?! I want a free t-shirt!
I'm gonna wright chuck an angry letter demanding a shirt! Oh wait, Chuck's not excepting fan mail anymore. That clever bastard!
Well the reason I signed up was just because I was a fan of Chuck. But now I'm boycotting his books until I get a free t-shirt.
You will never be famous.
~I shake my head~
These are not answers, they are statements motivated by an inquiry not taken even part-hearted-ly, and all are so bleak and moist…
I shake a pointing finger and hum a half-hearted laugh as I read these replies in a yet invalidated search for a petite lurid tale. Apparently my hopes will only be hopes. CREATE. E.g., I needed a place to talk after masturbation, or I visited the board and thought These people need my help. But nooooo, everybody wants a free t-shirt, or a place to talk about their insomnia.
But alas, I am still intrigued. Most of the posts I have read, the topics and replies, are polished points, thoughts positioned with craft, utilizing word-choice that is raw whit. I am intrigued, and I signed up for this registry not out of boredom but for entertainment. Most of you motherfuckers (& I use that title not by attributing characterization but rather I use it affectionately) are literate with craft and talent in your own right. To me this little forum is a whole universe, and in itself is a vast, unpublished novel (with some parts fiction and some parts not).
And this is the value- That is why I registered: because of the minds that post here.
now
~humbly, serenely, solemnly~
Registration: why did you?

or ignore me as a bore not worth a bother

my answer still stands. there's no deep meaning to why i'm here. i just have a lot of free time at work.
glad your reason carries a better reason.
lol Im certain that mine is not a better reason. & if I had more free time I'd be here more often

I'm in it for all the email addresses. I gather i'm up and sell 'em at 1/10000th of a cent. Jackpot!
The real reason I'm here is that I love to read (for fun) and I lost that when I got to college. Now I'm getting back into it and this place has great people to discuss books, chuck, and whatever else is on the menu for the day.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
JKabol,
nice quotes in your sigline
you might check out this thread (click here) though, there are some size guidelines for sig lines.
^^^just like a friend of mine. HS and college - he constanly had books jabbed at him. He has not read a book in easily fi5e years, because reading for fun lost it's fun

I'm here for a few reasons.
1. There is no one arguing about things like "is the world flat?", "is Pluto REALLY a planet?" and "Why does Mickey Mouse wear pants but Donald Duck doesn't?"
2. The Writers Workshop - People actually posting and reviewing stories. I've seen some great reviews, and many have helped me look at my own writing a little differently.
3. I haven't had a bad meal here yet.
4. No stupid pop-ups.
5. Interesting ideas discussed on the forums.
6. This website is put together well enough that I don't get frustrated or bored.
7. This isn't a 'I LOVE CHUCKY P" site.
8. Allows me to view and give reviews on people's writing. I like how there are rules about reviewing other's work before posting your own.
9. The sign up fee is reasonable.
10. There is no number 10, I just wanted to look cool.
Out of suggestion, I have read 2 books this week that have sucked! But I have read many great books that we're suggested to me, so I am not complaining. But I do feel you.

In Chuck "I" Trust
Yeah, I am with you, outsidecloseddoors. I feel like Ive stumbled across a good thing. I will get very involved in this site, more so eventually. I will spend a great deal of my time in the WW. (Not as a writer so much as a commentator, as a lot of people enjoy solid imput on what they have to offer, and having a clean outlet to reach unknown people readers with. Besides, I dont have anything to offer author-wise, as I dont write.)

I signed up here because I sarted reading Chucks books, and found this site, as it was mentioned on the jacket cover for Diary. After some browsing through the forums, and the writeres workshop, I saw some interesting people (or saw the messages and stories they wrote rather) and decided I would like to join. This is a place where I can talk to people interested in things I'm interested in. Also Ive been writing alot lately, and eventually will put them up for you all to read.
"Like the whores that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design"
Simple enough. I started reading Choke over my cousin's house in August. I then fell instantly in love with his writing style and wanted to find out more. My cousin hooked me up with the site, and on my first trip here I met HD Thoreau. He's well-read, has real opinions and ideas, and despite his ad, is rather well-educated. He hooked me.
Now I read stories in the WW, check the site at least once a day and browse through these forums (though I don't ever think I'll be one of the in crowd here- I've gotten some nasty responses from some closed-minded types).
When I first read Chuck I was so blown away I immediately wanted to know more about him. I kept looking at his author photo on the back of IM and just wanted to know how such a wholesome looking guy could write or even know about felching and quilts and drugs etc. Basically google brought me to the old incarnation of cp.net and I FEASTED on all the essays that used to be posted. It was so awesome to find out I hadn't read everything he had written up to that point.
I was a lurker on this version for a while. My first post was on this thread because I thought I had something to add to it. Been here ever since just babbling away.
I signed up because everyone I know outside of the computer world knows nothing about Chuck Palahniuk. I needed a place to talk about Chuck-related things. I have tried to introduce friends to Chuck's work like a door-to-door Mormon, but have failed. People don't like to read anymore. It's quite sad. "what's the last book you've read?" I might ask. And they answer, "Something-Something-J-Lo-Blah-Blah-etc-etc."

I've been visiting the site for a while (I've lived through a couple of the versions), but didn't start posting here until I got Fugitives and Refugees and was very unhappy with it. I came here to see what these guys would think and I was cornered by a bunch of people who like to argue, but don't know how. So, I didn't spend much time here because I felt quite unwelcome.
BUT
Now I do spend time here. Hip hip h o o r a y

You came on and said Palahniuk shouldn't have written a travel book because YOU don't care about gardens or portland etc. No one "cornered" you, they just replied to your thread. Its so weird that you see yourself as some sort of victem over this thread.
Initially came here to the site to see if the Fight Club video game rumour was true.
I enjoy Palahniuk's work, the people here seem alright, and when I saw a writer's workshop section, I fell in love.

Oh! You made me realize my joining the actual forums was... a fortunate mistake! (Reference first post, reaction thus tendered. Colour me naive. Remember me as pale.)
I came to see the website itself, I registered, it took me here. Voila! Once again, happenstance wins. And there it is.

What??? Where am I? What does this mean?
How do I exit this tiny screen?
I Googled my way here after reading Fight Club and Choke and
maybe half of Lullaby. I wanted to find out more about Chuck.
Immediately I found my way to the Writer's Workshop and I
established my user id when I attempted to submit my first
review of something and couldn't do so without one.
It took me a little bit longer to warm up to the forum monkeys

Signing up?
.....
It just rather seemed like the right thing to do.
-emotion, destruction, it's all the same to me...-
i'm not sure why i joined, an impulse maybe, only i was on the website, which i thought was pretty great and thought i'd like to maybe chat with similar-minded people. chuck's a great writer, so i'm assuming there are some great people who are reading his work. initially read a few threads and posted one of my own, which was incredibly boring compared to other people's, had no replies so far, hehe. ah well, this reply looks to be just as boring doesn't it?! my muse has left me for the day it seems...
Nicole
You dont need a muse haha
You like Chuck's work. Thats great; so do I. But that isnt why I signed up here. I signed up here for updates and to chat with the people that regulate this site, ie people that read all types of books that can maybe offer suggestions; people that can explain what they get from these books; people that knew the most up-to-date news-stuff from 2 years ago that I still dont know about.
The point is, though all of that stuff matters to some extent, the fact is I would not have signed up here if I didnt like the site or how it was run -- I would have just read.
So in a sense, I am here because of Dennis and the other mods.
Oh, and for mirkah's avatar, which is lovely.

I figured this place had Chuck fans. I reckoned they would be cool.
Turns out I reckoned rightwise.
Seriously though. I just thought it would be neat to talk to other fans of Chuck. I mean, the only things my friends read are car magazines, and I have a suspicion that they're only looking at the pictures.
Workshop privileges only.
i registered cause if Chuck is God, this must be heaven.

i agree with i'll cut your dick off....chuck's outlook on life and perceptions about status and all that are wonderful.....he's a brilliant author
I got lost in my way to school.
To be honest, I don't read much. I read a book at a time that usually takes me a few weeks (like 6 or 7). I first started because of Chuck. You people are strange and a little wonderful. I am strange. I grasp onto those I can relate to.
So.. Yeah.
