As you can tell by the username i'm a huge Bret Easton Ellis fan, which led me to Check out Chuck as a few friends said he's really the only living author on the same level as Bret.
Anyway, i hope to stick around
Welcome.
I'm a huge fan of AP, one of the best books ever written, the movie was a joke. But, I had a lot of trouble getting through Glamorama. Any ideas why? And did you like his lates, Lunar Park?

Well i live in Ireland, i'm 17 and my names Niall, that's the basics i guess..
As far as McInerney goes, i read 'Bright Lights, Big City', but never picked up anythng else by him, as of yet.
And Cujo is a great name for a cat..haha
In response to wickerKat i totally loved American Psycho the film, but the book more of course, Something i noticed about Glamorama though is it's not as accessible as other Ellis novels, but i still got through it rather fast, i guess it's for a certian taste.
And Lunar Park was fantastic, read it in 3 days..
glamorama's one of my favorite books, lunar park bored me though so now i'm off him.
Hmm well if you haven't you should really pick up the informers, that book pretty much sums up Ellis for me..
Informers was okay. It lacked closure IMO. AP, RoA and LTZ were amazing.
Ireland huh? You're not an asshole like Derek are you?
Howdy, Bret. Cool to meet ya. (Although it sucks that you're not the real BEE. I got really excited when I saw that screen name. Lame, I know...) Anyway, welcome aboard.
I am a huge fan of BEE as well. Loved American Psycho, Less Than Zero, The Informers, and The Rules of Attraction. Looking forward to finally finding copies of Lunar Park and Glamorama at my local used book shack.
Accept this random assortment of emoticons as a welcoming present.

What's UP new guy?
is there some rule about people can only join up here if they're from Ireland or Austrailia that I missed?
greetings and salutations Niall!
I loved the movie of AP too. Have you seen any other movie adaptations of his stuff?
(Less Than Zero...stinker, Rules of Attraction...ace)

okay. he can stay..
hay, Niall . i dont have anything much to add about the books as theyve been discussed, but perhaps a little history
on this site, members here have often changed their stances as to whether informers is a loosely written novel or a collection of stories in which some connect and some just dont
also a rumor that floated around for a while
he'd finished informers and the publishers wanted nothing to do with short stories and he said he would hand over the next novel to them if and only if they publish the shorts collection
you got into chuck through bee, it was the opposite for me:
bee was required reading when the chuck workshop started. it was based on chuck's egging that i looked the man up and seeing as bee was a huge chuck fan i had to read his work
bee was so badass, i started picking up his personal recommendations
picked up suzanna moore's in the cut because he blogged the book saying something about the ending was the most surprising and brutal he'd ever read
and house of leaves, what cultists call simply HoL for easily the passed three years, brett wrote an amazing blog for, just ridiculous, so of course i had to read it
i cant remember any other recommends by bee
chuck has a lot on this site, you'll find
you should definitely try will christopher baer and craig clevenger, if you havent already
for a taste
go here
a short story by will baer you can only read here, it was either his first or second publication back in '97 so it's old, but still infective so definitely read it
welcome to the cult and feel free to ask questions and we'll either completely ignore them unless we happen to know the answer or we’ll make up something slightly maybe plausible

HA! Tom he fooled you!
To tell you the truth I was in chat when this guy signed up and I remember saying to Ludwig I was all excited that BEE had signed up.... only to be letdown.
Yes, he did. Grrr.
Also, I wrote out your postcard yesterday Derek. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring it to work with me, so I'll have to send it tomorrow...if I remember.
mine too.
welcome to the cult, enjoy your stay.
I loved Lunar Park, not as much as American Psycho but I did enjoy it. I think it was because I thought it was going to be shit.
AP is definitely my favorite, but I also really enjoyed Less than Zero and The Informers. I just got another...either The Rules of Attraction, I think...I'll get around to it eventually.
