Do I have to be...
I really enjoy chucks work and i think his writers workshop is a good place for me to get some great work done. I'm just not as advance in my writing as i feel everyone else in the workshop might be. Is the workshop for all levels of writers or is this for something a little more advanced?
truer things have not been said since the last time someone said dashboard confessional was shit. how long has that been now?

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
Hey Albert,
I can tell you that, yes, our writers in workshop generally tend to be quite skilled. Don't let you put that off though. We get people from all over the world with varying degrees of talent in shop. In fact, I can think of a few who joined right around when I did and now they are getting published in lit mags and anthologies.
The best thing I would say is not to concentrate on your current skill level, but rather, getting better...and if you put in the work, read the essays, and listen to the advice you're given--there's no way you won't get better. Trust me on that. Our system and the way we do things is more effective than any other I've seen online. We also offer intensives with established authors and teachers from time to time as well.
Reply back with any additional q's you may. We hope to see you in there.
I'm one of the workshop mods, so you can always feel free to hit me up with anything at all through a private message.
Cheers,
-BT
I will tell you this much, I joined as pretty much an absolute newbie to the game, I was one of those people that always though that maybe I could do it, but never really got round to trying.
I decided to use my signing up to the workshop as a reason to get my ass into a higher gear.
And I do feel like I'm getting the reward out of, the essays and the feedback I have gotten so far has been fantastic. You wouldn't get that for forty dollars at any kind of writing class, that's for sure.

Yeah, when I started here I knew fuck all. I knew I wanted to write. That was it. My writing was pretty bad, truthfully. But I got in and had a go. Worked my ass off. Did a lot of extra-reading, learning grammar and style and just let it all envelope me. Now, a year and a half or so later, I've started getting work published, online and in print magazines and anthologies. Work that was originally workshopped here as early drafts. I'm working through re-writes and revision on my first novel, have started a trilogy of novellas.
If you can afford it, take the intensive that's coming up very soon with Mark, the workshop administrator, called The Art of the Short Story. That runs through everything you need to do to craft a publishable story. Could be great for you.
well for one just having everyone actually respond to my post seems like everything is as good as promoted. thanks to everyone taking the time to give me the information and i will see all of you in the workshop.
