Is there any way to preview the "premium" areas of the site? I am considering forking over the 40 bux to workshop some of my fiction, but I don't think it's a good investment if I can't see ahead of time that it would be worthwhile...
In my experience if the other writers aren't into what I'm into, or if they are a bunch of a-holes or noobs, it's just a waste of time-
So I guess what I'm asking is how can I find out if I'd get anything out of it without dropping my precious cash?

Trust me Jesse, it'll be worth it. Read the testimonials and statements by myself and VP. As a mod, and there are many of us, there will be no assholery. Whatever you write, there will be an audience. Here is a good thread:

I can tell you from what I've read so far that there are a LOT of talented writers involved already, and the reviews and advice have been solid, all around.

Go for it.

Peace,
Richard

For various reasons, we can't give people "preview" access to the workshop. And though I am a little biased because I am partially responsible for the brand new workshop; I must say that even I have been impressed at the level of communication that is already happening in there. In the 2 days the new workshop has been open we have a good quantity of submissions, all of which have received high quality peer reviews. If you're expecting to see a lot of posts that simply read "Good story, man", expect to be surprised.

Don't take my word for it though, I noticed a new member to the site made a blog post that echos my statements. http://chuckpalahniuk.net/blogs/ushriyah/needles-in-my-eyes
