And a big hello to you.
Hello to all. I'm Kyla, 28, a mother to a heartbreakingly beautiful 3 year old little girl, and a wishful thinker. I love reading, especially fiction. My favorite book (so far) is Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. I've read a few of Chuck's books -- Invisible Monsters being my absolute favorite thus far. I am a "super-senior" English literature undergrad with hopes of saving the world through my writing. Alas, I am only a fledgling and have stumbled upon this site with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. Oh...I also love music and am trying to find a way to tie my love of literature and music together in some sort of writing career.
I won't promise that I will be able to post much, but I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Hello and always welcome!
Thanks for the welcome! When winter break comes up, I may have a little more time on my hands, so I might check into the intensives then. I have never taken a creative writing course, so I'll need all the help that I can get...
Once again, thanks!

I think it`ll be interesting for you...I wanna do it too, but I`ll be busy next 6 month...
And you will find here very amazing people...Keep writing...Look around!
Enjoy your stay!
Hello Kyla!
We have lots of mommies and a couple childcare workers here at the Cult.
Have you ever thought about writing about music in a magazine or newspaper? There's money to be made in music journalism.
There is hope, but not for us.

I saw your myspace page...interesting! and you `re so pretty
Hello! Invisible Monsters is my favorite Chuck book too.
Actually, I have thought about that. It's just the logistics of the whole thing, ya know? I need to do a bit of research to see how to get into it, what types of writing I need to get better at, etc., but with a husband, child, and school, I barely have time to take a shower. Speaking of...I should probably get one of those sometime soon.

Thanks, G. Tina...
Is the myspace page good interesting or bad interesting? One never can tell... Let me know what you think about my random bloggings on that page, if you don't mind. None of my "friends" on myspace ever comments anything worthwhile.

Oh, I totally know. I've been thinking about getting into publishing/editing but I don't have the first clue how to go about it.
And I understand about not having a lot of free time. I mean, I do have a lot, but I could imagine not!

Hello and Welcome
You seem really cool already.
I only wrote one short story since I got here but I got lots of help with it.
Make yourself at home and drop in whenever you can.
BTW Watch out for that Asshole Derek!
You forgot to ask about Cujo, you're slipping man.
Oh and, Hi!
Oh yeah... What other authors do you like?
Is Cujo a good name for a cat?
Have a nice time!
That's more like it.
Hi Kyla, welcome! There's lots of good book recommendations around in the book club section too it you're looking for new authors.

Thanks anyway...

I like her already.
Welcome. Any fan of HST is a friend of mine. Survivor and Choke are my favorites. Also check out Clevenger and Baer at www.welcometothevelvet.com, two of my other favorite authors.

*keeping eyes peeled for Asshole Derek* :saeek:

Um...HELLS YEAH, Cujo is a great name for a cat! Especially if the cat has rabies or likes to attack people.
Other authors I like: HST, Haruki Murakami, Dave Eggers, Ray Bradbury, Nick Hornsby, Tom Robbins...just to name a few. How about you? Who do you like to read?
It's insanely hard most of the time, but well worth the work. That's about as truthful as a mother can get. Don't worry...I never thought that I'd have one myself. My daughter is what you'd call a happy accident. I really didn't have that whole motherly instinct at first, but she's fabulous. In fact, at 2 1/2 she tested at the verbal range of a 5 year old. I must be doing something right. Either that or she's a bonafide natural genius.
Give me a kindred soul! Give me aubergine dreams! Give me a j so I can smoke it!:240:

You seem cool - welcome!
As a writer, there's plenty for you to investigate here. Check out the workshops, writing essays, the writing forums and maybe even think about joining up for one of the upcoming intensives. Speaking from experience, I can say that they're excellent, and of more use for crafting good stories than any University stuff I did.
