A short introduction from a somewhat shy kid
Hey there everyone, I'm Elaine. An [almost] sixteen year old. It's great to have found a forum like this, and I'm sure I'll be obsessed with it in a short amount of time. Psychology is my main interest, with literature being a close second. Talk to me anytime, I love getting to know new people.
"We know everything was built to expire..."
How many Carl Jung's would it take to beat three Freuds and two Lacans?
Hey Elaine!
Why's your name Rodz?
A partridge in a pear tree.
Rodz, are you a pretentious
Psychology enthusiast,
Or are you actually fairly
familiar with it?
There is way too many people
these days with pretentious claims
of interest in psychology and literature,
only to make themselves sound deep,
and complex. Either that or it's because
they take particular books much too seriously.
Welcome, and lets hope your not one
of those sticks in the mud already,
at such a young age.
How much wood, could a woodchuck chuck,
if a woodchuck had a venereal disease,
which prevented him from chucking a
proficient amount of wood during the day, so much
that the woodchuck consequently became nocturnal
and chucked wood at night, but also without much
proficiency due to the lack of light,so took a corporate job
chucking wood, cause it had benefits, like dental,
as to increase the woodchuck's rate of chucking,
and medical, in order to treat it's venereal disease,
which would result in 7.5 days off every month of wood-chucking,in order to attend assessments in order
to attain a prognosis?
Bonus boasting privileges:
If the wood-chuck also was a manic depressive, consequentially cutting the woodchuck's
wood chucking efficiency, how behind would the woodchuck
be on it's wood-chucking quota, if his quota was (refer to
answer of primary wood-chucking question)

Wow, the hostility in this particular thread is chilling.
Anyway, from one new member to another, hello! Welcome to the Cult. I love your icon, by the way. The movie was very interesting.

So Rodz, what are your favorite books and movies?
Anyway, from one new member to another, hello! Welcome to the Cult. I love your icon, by the way. The movie was very interesting.

Yes, very wicked movie.
Has anyone seen the sequel? i haven't bothered because i figured it would be absolutely horrible, but i'd like to hear thoughts from people who HAVE succumbed to watching it.

I think the way you post is annoying. Write like a real person.
Damn, I was just gonna say the way he posts is really cool.
Yes.
'ello 'ello.
im always up for talking about writing and/or psychology. the two are very closely related in my opinion. i think, since most books feature people with fundamental flaws, and all kinds of nervous issues and bad habits, that writing is a gateway drug into psychology, pharmacology, and alcoholism.

Nice to know but that doesn't apply to this.
Was that a Non-sequitur? Very funny
When the line ends and you move to the next line underneath do you pause?
Lets hope you said no, which would make your reading ability that of a normal human beings.
I'm typing exactly how I would talk
in a normal everyday social scenario.
So apparently i'm fulfilling the requirements.
My posts are not spliced with

This is the way i interpreted the rules: literally.

Seriously you guys.... S.Darko?

For the sake of you dudes though, i will quit wasting available horizontal space, and use the text-box to it's fullest capacity.

And nice to meet you guys as well, as i don't believe we've ever even exchanged posts.
So aside from S.Darko, has anyone seen irreversible?
I have heard good things about it, so i downloaded it.
What am i in for?

haha, i rarely post like that actually, just a sporadic thing when i get bored, so i don't really consider its metrical structure.

I was trying to work out if you were following any pattern.
And as for S.Darko, it looks to me just like D.Darko but with a female protagonist.
Yes.
Horrible 3/10. And I don't think they could of possibly done any "better".Donnie Darko was a great movie,it's just simply not the kind of movie you make a sequel =/ .

Benevenuta/welcome
Of course it applies to me, not to "this" though, which was referring to my form of writing, which was in no violation.
I am very scrupulous, and careful not to cross lines.
And apparently those rules don't apply to you Atomos?
* Material that defames, libels, abuses or threatens others.
* Statements that are bigoted, hateful, racially offensive, harassing, threatening, defaming, or vulgar.
I don't mean to sound like a dick, but either your a hypocrite or just lacking good common sense. I'm not one to judge, i just go by what i see.
Now please can you calm down. Were trying to discuss S.Darko, Irreversible, and Elaine's favorite books/movies.
I have not acted hostile once, but only claimed my innocence. Please take your anger somewhere else, or at least refrain from speaking ill of people, and join in on our conversation.
I apologize to everyone for this outburst.
The only important thing is that it ends now.
My condolences Elaine.
Tomorrowhill is right, and almost never do these threads take antagonistic turns such as this one.
I hope you will forgive us culties, and give us one more chance to prove our value.

Anywho, welcome, Elaine. May your stint at the cult be fruitful and ... uh .... educational? ;]
Hah, I just read all of that. I enjoy all of the banter on my "welcome" thread. To answer a couple questions I saw [or the only two I remember]
Imke- my name is Rodz because my last name is Rodriguez, and a friend of mine calls me Rodz.
devoteddexter- I do know a fair bit about psychology, but I'm very excited that I can finally take the class next year and learn more about it. As for favorite movies, I'll say Donnie Darko, Hard Candy, and Girl Interrupted, to name a few. For books- Catcher in the Rye, Running With Scissors and Slauterhouse Five.
Thanks for the welcome, everyone.
"We know everything was built to expire..."
Right on Elaine.
I haven't gotten the chance to read slaughterhouse five yet, but i've heard some good things about Vonnegut.
I've never seen hard candy either. Maybe i should check it out.

it is neither defaming, bigoted, or libacious of me to confer upon you that i feel you have no manners (and/or) common sense for behaving this way in someone else's thread. and frankly, if you are concerned with any level of vulgarity: you would be best served by signing off of this forum and gouging out your eyes and eardrums.

Are you still arguing?
Idiot = Defaming
I don't make the rules.
I wouldn't point out your lack of syntax, your unintelligent contentions, or your tenacity in stealing the spotlight from Elaine(All hypothetical of course...),
because however true these things might be(hypothetically of course...), it would be defaming; id est: damaging to your reputation.
P.S.....it's definitely not libacious of you..lol...Definitely libelous, but certainly not libacious.. English major?
Regardless,
I didn't join the cult for this. Please let's stop. I get it, you're not fond of me, and vice versa, let's drop it.
Sorry Elaine.
By the way, i was checking out your videos, and i was wondering about "actual Pokemon theme song" hahaha
Very awesome, but i was wondering where that took place?
I would've initially assumed at your school, but i wasn't quite sure after getting a glimpse of the audience. Where must you attend for a mass singing of the original Pokemon theme song?
And you should definitely post that on here.

Seriously, deflate a little. You're not mysterious or enigmatic. You're just being pompous.
this is communication.
I was being satirical...
She is a friend of mine..
Mysterious or enigmatic?
Sounds like your implying that's what i was aiming for....
Idle implications like that only make you a hypocrite.
Feeding off the idea that i was aiming for a statement that serves my self-superiority, only so you can come undermine it, ground the situation, and look ultimately like the omniscient one... At least that's what it seems like...but guess what.
I'm an irrelevant 19 year old from Canada.
The last thing i'm TRYING to be is mysterious, and enigmatic.
What purpose does that serve?
Make me feel good about myself?
I promise you, i am not that superficial.
I-KNOW-NOTHING.I-AM-JUST-A-KID-INTERESTED-IN-READING-AND-WRITING-AND-AM-MOST-DEFINITELY-NO-MORE-IMPORTANT-THAN-ANY-INDIVIDUAL-HERE.
Any other assumptions i should qualify?
Your probably a hell of a lot smarter than me (i'd say most of the people on here are) and i don't intend to try and outrank anyone, at any time. I look up to most of the people here, and i'd hate to come off that way. Besides i essentially have nothing to reinforce my prestige haha.Like i said, i'm a curious 19 year old kid from Canada, and that is all. I am here to discuss, learn and just have a good time.
I rant now, because i dislike people who walk around believing everyone is subordinate to them, holding everyone in contempt. This is the last type of person i want to be, and i want that to be clear.
Let's just stop the fighting, and undermining, and let's just be friends!
ahah okay maybe that sounded a little hokey, but i promise you it was sincere.
Sorry?

By pompous, I meant ornate - which your vernacular certainly was in that first post of yours. "You're not mysterious or enigmatic" was just an observation, intended for you to take however you'd like.
I don't dislike you. I don't know you. I just didn't find the humor in your "psychology" rant, so I had no way of knowing you were making a joke.
I recommend starting with Breakfast of Champions if you're wanting to check out Vonnegut.

Alrighty, noted.

welcome, hello. i hope your time here is splendid and continues to be entertaining. i am also new. uhhh. yeah, hi!
AFTERNOON, ALL!
Looks like she didn't get obsessed with it, after all.
Welcome. Just to let you know, we use that font for sarcasm so it's better understood.
I am new as of this fine day! SPACE MONKEY!
wut?
Space monkey. That's probably the worst thing to ever come from Fight Club. And there's been a lot of horrible things to come from Fight Club. I mean, did you see that video game? Echh
But I digress...
That whole space monkey thing has been shanghaied somehow to mean like mindless fellow soldier or something. Completely off-base of what an actual space monkey was or what it was intended to mean in the book.
Space monkeys were the pioneers. The ones being shot out into the unknown, either out of bravery or stupidity, to blaze the trails for others to follow.
But now that I think about it, I suppose the whole "follower" mentality for the term was developed in the book towards the end. But it certainly wasn't meant to mean that originally.
