Nine Inch Nails in Atlantic City, March 11
TOOL at the Coachella Festival, April 30
Now that there is a new Tool album appearing this Spring (April?), I plan on my usual routine of neglecting work and family to follow them around the country on tour. I'm an addict for that damn band, and I need my fix!

Cat Power? I hate Cat Power..... 's new album
I love Cat Power though.
I saw her last year. Expect her to be extremely nervous and mumbly and to half play songs and then go "uhhhh I'm sorry, um...".
Thats unless she has a band (and the new sound would suit one.) Apparently when she has a band its very solid.
Her solo shows are notoriously unstable, sometimes she just runs off after 15 miniutes.
The one I went to had stretches of extremely beautiful stuff, then she would kind of break down and shuffle around

Everyone skips my town...
However, my top band is heading out further than ever before. Russia, Okinawa, Hawaii, Austrailia.
Do they like blues/funk hard rock in Japan?

I love Rollins, I saw him at Trenton War Memorial a while ago, he did a lot of the same stuff from Think Tank, but he's just, like a god. I have all of his books.
But I'm going to go see Indigo Girls next sunday.
The Chieftains March 10th
Dave Brubeck April 29th
Darkstar Orchestray May 5th
All for free.

Yes, i've heard that. But I love her so much I wouldn't mind too much.
And I quite like her new album. It's not my favourite but yes it does have a different sound.

Oh yes, and I am going to see Robbie Williams at Wembley in September (for a friend's birthday.) Should be funny.
It's not music, but it's a gig. Just bought two tickets to Gunther von Hagens BodyWorlds. It otter be a hoot.

no gigs near me for a good amount of time. my best option is to fly to Seattle [or somehow convince the band/artist to come here]. but I'll probably be hitting up some festivals in September like I did last year.
i got 2 tickets to the strokes next month. that's about it. nobody else interesting is coming through just yet.
i've never been to a concert.
i've never been to a concert.:(
have you lived in a bubble on mars until just recently?
have you lived in a bubble on mars until just recently?
no! i just don't have friends to go to concerts with.
Go alone sheesh.

I agree. I go to more concerts alone than with people.
Part of it is 80% of what I go see is because I usher at the local theater and get to see what comes through it for free.
And I prefer to listen to the music, it's not a "social" thing to me, I go because I want to listen, not because I want to get drunk on cheap flat beer and get hit on...

I dislike going to show's on my own. It just feels like I have no support. If I don't have friends with me or personally know the band, I don't feel secure. I'm probably suffering from a severe psychological complex. Luckily, I can always find someone who wants to go along.
It's weird though, you matters who you go with. Some of my friends squeeze up to the front, right at the stage and start jumping up and down and shouting, they wear clothes that make them look hardcore. Clothes the would never wear anywhere else.
Other friends stand in the back of the warehouse or whatever. Just stand there and watch the band. Observe how they play and maybe, MAYBE, bob their heads. Just a little. It could be mistaken as a temporary loss of balance.
I prefer the latter group, much more enjoyable and memorable. Also, not drinking may have something to do with it.
Look out Snow.
Apparently Chan Marshall has wigged out even more than usual and canceled her entire The Greatest tour
I kinda feel really sad for her.

Gonna check out Pete Philly and Perquisite tomorrow and the afterparty where the main DJ of MAD SEXY will be behind the decks, making the honeys and Brown dance their ass off.

Don't forget bond money.

don't jynx me..
Just sayin'.

i touched her swedish boob! twice! and then i kissed her hand. it was the defining moment of my life. she squeezed my hand and held it until the end of 'living in america'. my life is complete..
Sweet. Did you play it off as an "in the moment" accident?

i didn't touch her boob while i kissed her hand. i touched it before she leaned close enough for me to grab her hand. i think it was an obvious grope. well..more of a gentle carress. twice.
I'm sure she's used to it... well as used to it a girl can get with random strangers grabbing her breasts.

Went to a Metric concert at the Fillmore couple weeks ago and holy crap it was awesome. And man, that girl wears some short shorts...also has a rockin voice.
Fuck not with Rocketman
Sigur Ros in 9 days but I lost my ID and dont have a drivers licence and IDs take two weeks to get back so I might be refused by a bouncer even though I'm 22 and payed $60 for the ticket AAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHH!
Wish me luck

couldn't a college ID maybe work. I don't really know. Best of luck.
couldn't a college ID maybe work. I don't really know. Best of luck.
Nah. Licenced venues here require either Passport, Driver's Licence, or a special '18+' card and thats it. Nothing else.
2/3 of the time I dont get carded and I'm growing a beard for it, so we'll see.

What show did you go to?
If it was Houston on the 15th?, wish I would've known. I was there, could've said hello.

So... self-promotion: If you live in the Bay Area you should come and check out my stand up. There's always good shows happening with some really great comics.... good times... and, I'll buy you a beer.

Hey that looks fun Nate. Don't let me catch your ass at home this weekend.
I'm going to see the Melvins and Big Business sometime next week. If the Melvins just stand there and make beeping noises and feedback I will riot, no kidding.

Sometimes you just need a new thread to reinvogorate this kind of topic...
Over the next couple of months I've got tickets to see:
King Creosote @ The Scala
The Concretes @ The Scala
Belle and Sebastian @ Hammersmith Apollo
and The Flaming Lips @ The RAH
The Lips are playing at the Royal Albert Hall. That's the one that makes me go all a quiver when I think about it...
