Your Movie
k we have all been hyped up about a movie, i know for a fact ebcause of how much most members ont he board love their movies. but one of the greatest parts of the movies, is the waiting. the hype built up, the what seems like endless amounts of time until the day your movie is finally released or is finally available for viewing. well tell us which movies did this for you.
i rmemeber the Jurassic Park movies really hyped me up and just drove me nuts until they were finally released, but not as much as House of 1000 Corpses. i rmemeber waiting sooooo friggin long for that movie, and it being the underdog it was not a lot of info and pictures were released before the flick. leaving endless plot possibilities and ideas for me to think up, based on the few bits of information and stills that were released.i havnt been so excited or hyped up about a film, as i was for House of 1000 Corpses
For me it was Murder by Numbers
ha ha, now was it a good thing?
i remember at first being a bit let down by House of 1000 Corpses, cause i built it up so much in my mind, but after viewing it over and over, lowerrin my bias of it, ir ealised what an awesome fucking true horror movie it was
now im hyped up about the DVD release on August 12, lets just hope i dnt havta wait any longer
Fellowship of the Ring
same as unbeliever
Hearts in Atlantis, mostly because I read it and I love seeing movies of books i've read...it was decent too.
Sleepy Hollow. it looked so awesome, I couldn't wait to see the whole thing.
There was another one that I was really excited to see a few years ago and I can't think of it at all.
I hate that.
And of course, house of 1000 corpses. Anyone see the figures they're coming out with for that? I've only seen Captain Spaulding so far, and I'm too lazy to find a link right now.
The Two Towers. But I try to keep from hyping films. It will usually ruin it.

Well, then you should read Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. A film version is due out this November. It is about a British captain of a schooner and his adventures on the open sea during the Napolenic wars.

yes, that too and ROTK
LOTR and Reloaded for sure.
But going back alot further......"Independence Day"
I was an effects junkie when that puppy came out.
I remember it was literally booked out for about a week after it opened.
"Nightmare before Christmas" was another biggy.
And "the Abyss" was huge (It was actually already out, but judging by the effects in it I thought it hadn't come out)
Hmmm...I suppose the Matrix: Reloaded. Chasing Amy and Dogma and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back when I was really into Kevin Smith. I usually go into films wanting to enjoy them and come out pleased, such as with Terminator 3. I know so many people probably just went in going "this movie is going to suck", and sure enough they ruined it for themselves. I fucking loved it. Loved The Matrix. I love lots of movies! And I don't like sucky movies so....
YOU FUCKED THE WORST, NOW FIGHT THE BEST!

i remmeber i was soooooooooo hyped for spawn the movie. that was a huge fucking let down
Very true, Spawn could have been amazing.
I'd love to see an animated version in the style of the ill fated Hell Spawn series. That'd be a real head fuck!
the animated movies sucked too lol
I grew up on Star Wars, so Episode 1 was mega-hyped up and seemed to take forever to arrive.
What a fucking let-down that movie was.

It is funny because with Fellowship I had absolutely no hype for the film at all. I thought it was going to be a stupid, fan-boy film with little merit unless you were a fan. Then I checked the IMDB the first week and was shocked to see the film had a 9.1 rating. The highest of any film at the time. I decided then that I should probably see this. One of my better decisions. And now a year and a half later I am a fan boy.
Harry Potter and Spiderman. And no, I am not kidding. But Fellowship was a huge one for me too, my best friend and I did the stand-in-line-for-hours-with-scary people thing to see this movie opening night.
There is hope, but not for us.
What was a bigger let down, Episode 1 or Episode 6? Given the order of filming:
* Star Wars IV (Wow!)
* Star Wars V (Oh My Fucking God!)
* Star Wars VI (What's with all the fucking teddy bears? Defeating the freaking Empire?!?!?)
years go by...
* Star Wars I (Yeah, yeah, he's cute. Someday he'll be evil. Then he'll turn good in the end. Blah blah blah. Maybe that fucking whore of a CGI monkey puppet rubber monstrosity gets killed in the next episode...)
* Star Wars II (Haven't bothered to see it.)
* Star Wars III (Not sure I even give a flying baby shit any more. Thank you, George Lucas, for creating, then killing, a childhood dream, you rat fuck. You should get cancer.)
The one I couldn't think of was Queen of the Damned. I was so excited to see that movie, but still didn't have very high expectations for how well it was going to be done.
It's really exciting for me to find out what people are going to do with a book I've read. To actually see the characters from someone else's mind and see how much it matches my imagination.
I didn't want to see Queen of the Damned (Hell, I didn't want to see the first one). At least Interview was done well, Queen looked like a TV Movie Of The Week.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought Queen of the Damned looked like a movie of the week.
The first film I ever really eagerly anticipated was probably Braveheart. My girlfriend at the time and I were watching Rob Roy, and when we left the theatre I said, "Eh, that was pretty good, but Braveheart (there was a trailer for it) looks like it's gonna be a lot better."
"I don't think so," she said.
Well, several months later we're leaving the theatre again and she said, "You were right; that was better." Not only was I surprised she remembered I said that, but it was one of the few times she ever admitted I was right.

Why this bit of dreck didn't go STV, I'll never understand. Oh, wait, millions of people hang on Ms. Rice's every word.

Queen did look, and was crap
Heh, yeah I know. It was disappointing, even though I wasn't expecting much. Even though Anne rice isn't the best writer, I loved the characters in the vampire books, which is why I was so excited to see it.
I was really disapointed with the Matrix Reloaded too. I walked out the cinema, really confused- since my friend had forced me to seeit with her, despite her watching it the day before too.
When I watch a good movie, I think about it for the next week; and with that, I'd forgotten about it in the time it took to get from the cinema exit to the short walk to my friend's house.
Other big let downs which I was looking forward to watching -
Star Wars Episode II
Apocalypse Now (I suppose it was alright.)
Rounders
American Psycho- The editing was really lousy. Bateman was well cast, and I thought that Chloe Sevigny was good as Jean, but this is not a patch on the book ('as always..blah blah')
Pecker- What was Edward Furlong thinking?
Matrix Reloaded...only one word needed here: sucked. Everything that was original and fresh about the first one was basically just rehashed over and over and over again here, with too many drawn out speeches.
Star Wars Attack of the Clones...the only movie that could make me appreciate the first one more. This movie was so bad it almost made me forget everything I loved about the original 3.
South Park The Movie: Didn't know what to expect out of a motion picture, but I got everything I could hope for and more. Funny ass shit.
Pearl Harbor. When I used to go to the movies a lot, I remember seeing the trailor for that thing like a year before it came out. Then when it finally did, and the movie began, it felt like it took another year for the damn movie to begin. What could have been a great event shown on film turned out to be just another "Please God Make It Stop" emotion.
I find Josh Hartnett an incredibly wooden/un-emotional actor.

The Matrix Reloaded. I was wayyyyy too hyped about it, man.
