Your favorite band. Quick!!!!
I listen to 'em but they are not my favorite. Probably barely part of my top fifty.
To each his own. I just really got into them. I've always listened to them, but after all of the mind-altering substances as of late, they somehow make alot of sense to me. I get excited about hearing them.
Kunek. (Radiohead post-rock style with a cello)
I've been listening to the Decemberists more over the last year or two than any other band, so they're my current favorite by default. But i got to listening to some old Jimmy Eat World (Clarity) the other day and I forgot just how goddamn amazing they are, and it makes me sad that their name is so stupid because no one will take them serious; so prior to the Decemberists, I'd say J.E.W. was my favorite band. And then the new Pumpkins album was released which got me to listen to their older stuff for nostalgic reasons, and I realized just how good they were in their prime, and it reminded me why I was obsessed with them in high school, and how they were my favorite band for about five or six years. So there - between these three bands you have a comprehensive list of my favorite band for the last decade or so.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
not like, californication though.
i mean like uplift mofo party plan.
old school red hots is some crazy shit.
Oh yeah. Have you heard Under Pressure done by My Chemical Romance and The Used together? It's awesome. I don't know if you can get it anywhere besides iTunes though.
i love bowie.
and queen.
and mcr.
the used are ok.
but sometimes, you just shouldn't toy with a classic.
Floyd, by far, over everything else. All their stuff pre-Roger Waters departure. The Dear Hunter also kicks a. Only one LP out, but its amazing.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
The Cure
Slayer
MC 900 Ft Jesus

blink-182, be-otches! Boxcar Racer, +44 is alright. AVA is the gayness.
Hmm... Yeah, System of a Down is awesome, but I like their older stuff better. Steal this Album being my favorite. (Which I stole, incidentally)
Love Puddle of Mudd, can't wait for the next album. Maybe that makes me a gay kid who listens to re-hashed post-grunge, but whatever. Good stuff. *meow*
*listening to P.O.D.*
The Cat Empire, hands down, best music ever, best concert ever.
Into The Shins right now.
Molotov
Asian Kung-fu Generation!!
There are so many that I like....
But I guess, if I have to narrow the choice down, it would be a tie between Cradle of Filth and Coheed and Cambria.

All i have are these Action Bills.
I want to get into both of those bands. What CD's do you recommend?
Mmmm... As far as The Smiths, if you're gonna check out one album, I'd suggest The Queen Is Dead. However, you can probably find The Best of The Smiths Vol. 1 & 2 a lot easier and cheaper. Those two give a pretty great overview of their entire career.
In terms of The Cure, that's trickier. If you want bleak and non-commercial, then the Pornography record is the way to go. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is good if you want poppier songs and more stylistic changes, and Disintegration is one of the best overall records. The Head on the Door is also definitely worth checking out. Also, their early "greatest-hits" record Standing On A Beach, Staring At The Sea is amazing. You really can't go wrong with any of 'em.

So tonight I'll sit and pick apart your pictures
And overanalyze your words
But the truth is that I've never fallen so hard
It's taking everything in me
Just to forget your sweater so far
I had the notion that you'd make me forget the world
But your undecisive mind shows me that
You are "just another girl"
I had the feeling that those looks you gave me were real
What if I ripped your heart apart at the seams
Maybe then you'd know how I feel

I tend to like a lot of solo artists....
For Real is a great song. Some of my other favorites are For the Captain/Another Radio Song, Westfall, It Ends With a Fall, and Omie Wise.
I'm listening to more and more folk- and alt. country-influenced solo artists lately.
Gary Numan.

I've got a song by this chick Jaymay called Sea Green, See Blue that is fantastic but I can't seem to find the rest of the album anywhere.
