Wow Rolling Stone must be fucking retarded...
Check out their top 100 guitarists of all time. Guess who's in the top twenty. Along with Jimi Hendrix [at number one], Jimmy Page, BB King and Eric Clapton, we have fucking Jack White, Johnny Ramone and Kurt Cobain. Jack White and Kurt Cobain. Johnny Ramone. Better than David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen. Better than 80% of the list. What the fuck.
Check it out here, and see how many amazing guitarists they left out.
what the fucking fuck.
They might as well have fucking put Michelle Branch on the list.
Where were Al Di Meola? Paco De Lucia? Omar Rodriquez-Lopez? John McLaughlin?
I guess Tre fucking Anastascio is better than them.
Lest I forget. Dave Navarro. Slash.
Joan Jett is better than them, right?
bending to the masses...tsk tsk tsk...
may they burn in the eternal fires of hell.
Because Rolling Stone has always been the epitome of "cool." Fuck them and thier fucking lists.

Wait, you people still pay attention to Rolling Stone!?
*snickers at thread*
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.
don't go all elitist on us Mister
Jack White in the top 20........? What the hell has he ever done for music to advance or revolutionize it? He's certainly not skilled, and he's not groundbreaking, so I don't see why he's on the list at all let alone in the top 20. As for the list, they're missing Chuck Schuldiner, Jon Levasseur, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman, Joey Santiago, David Immergluck, and many others. It's obviously the biggest piece of shit sales gimmick they could come up with.
YOU FUCKED THE WORST, NOW FIGHT THE BEST!

they've obviously just compled the list with guitarists from the most popular bands not the actual greatest guitarists
Hoo ray for Kerry King
Another LitBlog
At least they included Adam Jones and Tom Morello. That was a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny, tinytiny plus.

Begin rant:
That was the first name I looked for.
And yeah, Jimi should be #1, although nobody remembers him anymore. Just yesterday I listened to a tremendous live version of 'gypsy eyes': blew-the-fucking-doors-off-my-house.
But seriously, how can Jack-motherfucking-White outrank (by thirty spaces, no less) a guy with over ninety -yeah, thats nine-zero albums in his discography!?!?!?!
RS even had to mention what band some of these guys are in to clue you in!!!
Plus, I don't care what anybody thinks, but Kurt Cobain was in no way a great guitarist. I like all their albums, sure, but when you ask me for a list of great guitarists, there's no fuckin' way Cobain will be on it.
Cobain said the Pixies were his greatest inspiration, so why isn't Joey Santiago or Black Francis on there?
I didn't know that Joan Jett even played guitar....
Since this can't be all bad, I gotta give props to RS for even remembering the Minutemen. They kicked Ass!
End Rant.
Robert Johnson surprised me. Not only was he on the list, but he was fifth.
I guess selling his soul was worth it after all...I mean, uh. Oops.
PS: "37. Bod Diddley" Heh.
There is hope, but not for us.
i never read / watch any of those lists, in mags or on TV. they never fail to piss me off.
if it bothers you that much, make your own list. it'll make you feel better.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
hahahaha
i only glanced at the list but i'm sure i didn't see dick dale on it.
i thought he wasnt on it at first as well, but that would be complete blasphemy, so i looked again, and indeed he is on it.. he was 31, which is far too low for the master.
too high;
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
17 Jack White of the White Stripes ..k..wtf
too low;
15 Carlos Santana
21 George Harrison
31 Dick Dale
83 Neil Young
where is;
James Taylor?
Django Reinhardt?
Steve Vai?
with a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know.
leo, you're right, rolling stone magazine is fucking retarded. please stop buying/reading it! if people stop buying it, they'll stop making it!
p.s. MTV is starting a music mag soon...
When the people who work at rolling stone get to the gates of heaven, Zappa will judge them. They will be cast back down to the fiery inferno that is michelle branch.
