I'm very jealous.
Noel is my favourite celebrity. Surprisingly short. But yeah, both him and Liam have said some silly things in the past. However, I think Noel's comment about Phil Collins was priceless.
i just found out that longwave is playing with the doves and it's at a venue i can get in for free. it's eaither that show or the firey furnaces show because both are on the same night...hmm...
I got free tickets for Franz Ferdinand. I'll check them out.

September will be a good month for me. two things i will be attending;
bumbershoot in Seattle; this will be cool because I get to visit my friend as well.
CMJ Music Marathon in NYC; this will be cool for too many reasons.
performers, panels and films (which is insane because there will be no time to see any films).
Bought my tickets for Death Cab yesterday.
Seeing them on October 7th.
The Academy Is
Spitalfield
and Hidden in Plain View last night.

Seattle was a good trip. Idiot Pilot, Pretty Girl Make Graves, Iggy, and several others were all very cool to watch.
will spend most of today flying in. little disappointed in the ticketing of the Arcade Fire in Central Park. It will be like lotto. but no worries because there will be MANY others to see.
Going down to Chicago October 12th and seeing Death Cab.
I just got back from seeing Mindless Self Indulgence in Manchester and The Offspring in London with Amy. I'm sure we'll both be writing more about it over the next few days but right now I feel like getting very drunk in front of the TV and sleeping in my own bed (in a room with not one, but two windows!).
!
Seeing U2 Tuesday.
i saw them a few years ago in barcelona. it was fantastic.
So I've heard. I'm going with some people straight out of Ireland so it should be cool. I am going for free which is even cooler.

 OH YEAH!

Watch out when they ask for the RoadHead bro.
you´re welcome
Would you hate me if I were to say I am getting backstage also?
Watch out when they ask for the RoadHead bro.
They happen to be females.
They happen to be females. ;)
You been down in their pants already?
You been down in their pants already?
As if I would say (not yet).
hate is such a harsh word. maybe i would dislike you.
Then I am not going to say so, we have had too many good talks and I would hate to ruin that.

Well then, good luck mowing the lawn after the show.
hey, how was it?
It was a really good time. Prior to the concert we went to a bar to see if we could possibly find a couple of girls who were interested in accompanying me and a friend to the concert as the two girls who were going to go with us bailed on us because one ot them had a sick kid and the other didn't want to go without the other. So we meet a coupld of girls at the bar (one was a waitress whom I have since gone out with) but they can't go because they are working and the other had to be up early for a flight or something. We ended up selling the tickets (which were general admission) and take a school bus that happened to be shuttleing people from the bar to the concert. For $5 we got a quick ride and got to drink on the way. We got there in time to miss Dashboard Confessional who opened up for them. We pushed sort of halfway up to the stage but didn't want to get too much closer as people were starting to squish each other and I wasn't up for getting sweated and spit on.
All in all a great show. They sounded really good and they came out for two encores. I would go see them again.
I would go see them again.
yeah, i would go to see them any time again. as i said, i saw them in Barcelona a few years ago. it was late summer and an open air in a park and it was simply beautiful.
but the tickets had been sooo expensive. i think we paid about 70 euros and that was about five years ago. so i guess they are up to 80 euros now, at least.
Yeah, the tickets we had were going for $50 apiece, for general admission anyways. Other went upwards to $250. But,being that I have some connections and my friends have thier connections, I didn't have to pay. So on top of the show being a great show, it was free too.

Haha, at times it can feel very VIP-ish. Other times all it is is me getting a beer for free.

Yeah, but the bottom line is you ladies get way more free drinks than I even care to know.
Getting chummy with bartenders has its advantages.

Dunno for sure if this counts, just got back from the Renaissance Festival, where I took in the Jolly Rogers (I always do). Regrettably, the one CD I need of theirs to complete my collection is sold out. It's from a few years back, and actually I bought it, but it's a two CD set and one of my children mutillated disc 2. Fortunately, I've been friends with one those singing pirates since seventh grade, and he's promised to burn me a copy of the disc I'm missing.
Heh, a pirate is going to pirate his own material for me.
As far as the next six months goes, I'd love to catch Ani DiFranco, but she never seems to come in driving distance when I have concert ticket money.
Concerts I'll probably go to depending on finances:
Wayne Shorter on 10/15 (iffy, it's soon and it's $45, but it's Wayne Shorter, so if I can mug a couple of people, I'll be there). I passed a chance to see Joe Henderson before he died for the want of $30, and I can hardly stand it.
Might check out Sara Gazarek on 10/17, but not if it means missing Jo Ann Daugherty on 10/22; both are playing The Blue Room, so a $10 admission, and it's a smoke-free room with a bar, which is awesome. On the down side, low covers tend to mean audiences who lack a grasp of the basic etiquette of live jazz (talk over the music, don't acknowledge solos, etc). The only place I've been that's overcome this is NYC, where the clubs are nonsmoking by law, but when you pay a $30 door with a $20 drink minimum per set, you're not going to attract people who just couldn't find Denny's.
Steve Turre at the Folly 10/28, almost sure to catch that. Further out, Bill Frisell is coming with Lee Konitz in 2/06, and I will not miss that. Regina Carter is coming in March and Chick Corea in April. Given the Folly's series this year, I may try to scrape up a season ticket. I'm not sure what they're running this year, but with four concerts of six that I definitely want to catch, it might at least break even over buying a show at a time.
My general radar is up for the usual suspects: I rarely if ever miss a chance to hear Pat Martino; Steve Cardenas usually gets a gig around here at least once a year when he's coming back to visit family; Gerald Spaits and Bob Bowman have a bass quartet going with Craig Atkins and James Albright. Given how busy Spaits and Bowman are in particular, the quartet doesn't perform frequently, but I keep meaning to catch it. It's got to be amazing, they're all incredible musicians and four basses is the chamber music equivalent of a hard rock concert.
On the lighter side, if I can catch The Reverend Horton Heat or Mary Gauthier, I won't pass it up. Well, depends on money again. I could have caught Pat Benatar at a casino not long ago, but they wanted $50 for that. I couldn't believe it. It's one thing to catch Steppenwolf free because they happen to be playing Worlds of Fun the day you're there, it's another to spend big money to see a has-been in a casino. Sorry Pat, I'd still do you but not for $50.
When we call soccer 'football' the terrorists have won.
Wouldn't exactly call it a concert. But tomorrow night Henry Rollins spoken word.
Wouldn't exactly call it a concert. But tomorrow night Henry Rollins spoken word.
Heh, when he was touring with Black Flag in the 80s, I saw him get in a fistfight with a fan. A fan who I later worked with who told me about how he'd kicked Rollins' ass, but I'd seen it, called him on it. It was a draw. Neither guy really won, they just brawled until they were panting and got pulled apart.

Thats pretty cool, meeting this guy and you call him out on his hyped story. Classic.
were supposed to go to this HIM concert this month
i dunno never heard of them or him but i got a cd of theirs off a buddy and i plan on given it a listen

It fits the lore, as if I made it up. I have a similar incident in my novel which I hope is 'fair use' where the grandson of a Wobblie cobbles his grandpa's radical history with the Morrissey/Smith's lyric 'Shoplifters of the World.' I have it in the ms, that the rumor gets back to Nelson (my character) that the comic book was seen by Morrissey and he hated it. But he liked hating it.
Seems in character for Morrissey, as does my former co-worker's fisticuffs with Henry Rollins prior to Black Flag playing 'The Foolkiller' (a folk theater taken over by punks in the 80s only to be demolished to make room for another 'branch bank.'
