What's the last movie you rented?
"Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter"
Great Great Film...
to poorly quote the first line of the film, it is something like, "Where have all the lesbians gone?"
i got The Wrestler. plan on it being the first movie i watch in the new year.
it's a good thing i waited till after midnight to watch this or it would have knocked The Fall out of the best movie i saw in 08 out of it's place. As is, it's a helluva mark for a movie to top for the rest of the year.
Leave it to Aronofsky to have a stripper quoting scripture to draw an inference between Christ and a professional wrestler!
The constant following behind right behind them with the camera kind of got on my nerves but it really gave the movie it's own feel. And I kinda wanted more resolution at the end but i don't know of any other way he could have ended it better.

Twas lovely.

Harold and Maude is shipping today from Netflix. Next I'll rent Pat and Mike. Then Fanny and Alexander. Can you think of any other titles like this? Franny and Zooey doesn't count--unless they make a film adaptation of it.
Maybe it's a stretch, but Zelly and Me? Very good, it has David Lynch in it, too.
That might just be in a related category. It would go with Marley and Me, though. What others?
Well, Frankie and Johnny fits, but I don't like it. You might.
a clockwork orange= great older film, almost as good as the book.
hard candy-really suspenseful, ellen page was brilliant in it.
wristcutters:a love story- more than i expected, a surprisingly captivating film.
grindhouse:death proof: classic Tarantino
Serenity
The TV show it concluded, Firefly, should have lasted longer.
The Dark Knight, Sicko and a kiwi film, Second Hand Wedding, which I havn't watched yet.
The Dark Knight was great, I didn't go see it at the movies, I wish I had.
Got Lock stock and two smoking barrells this weekend and it was pretty awesome
I just netflixed The Fall again - Garrick didn't see it on the first viewing so I got it again so he could see the effects. I was really impressed. I don't often watch movies more than once.
Good coffee is like drinking Rock and Roll.
I am going to netflix that, now.
Burn After Reading - meh.

Der Amerikanische Freund (The American Friend) - 1976.
with Dennis Hopper and Bruno Ganz.
Ganz was brilliant. As was the photography.
À ma soeur! (Fat Girl) 2001.
Mind fuck.
once upon a time, i was 'walkingcontradiction' on this forum.
I have a hard time finding anything good in rental form nowadays and if I don't think I'll love it, I don't get it. So the last one was probably "Die fetten Jahren sind vorbei (The Edukaters)". Amazing movie.
You and I are underdosed and we're ready to fall
Raised to be stupid, taught to be nothing at all
WHERE did you find that?!

My local library.
I always find amazing movies there that are a bit more alternative and that the rental places don't have (Roman Polanski's "Repulsion", "Ilsa, she-wolf of The SS" Run Lola Run, The elephant Man, etc.)

I just added The Fall to my list thanks to your recommendation, Shana.
My last rental was Be Kind Rewind. UGH. It's made me implement a no Jack Black rule - I'm sure he used to be funny but all of his recent movies are seriously bad.
I really really really want to see the Fall and the Fountain but my local dvd store only stocks Hollywood Blockbusters, Im going to order both next time Im in the city.
My sister just rented Funny Games. I heard about it at school in my english class by one girl claiming that i looked like one of the killers. So i thought id see what i looked like to others and its actually someone i dont mind being like.
ok-- i just rented (in the last week)

george carlin
an evening with kevin smith 2

nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it.
"Saw V"
Which one, Michael Pitt or the other one? That movie was so bad, it was nearly unwatchable. It didn't help that the DVD kept skipping over the few parts where stuff actually happened.

I didn't rent, but I uh...got a copy of that vampire movie from the other thread (Let the Right One In). It was pretty good. I'd say sadly haunting and very suspenseful. And just gory enough. It was subtitled in English, which is so much better than those horrid dubs.
I watched 30 Days of Night again recently, knowing it was suck ass of course. I still like the comics much better.
