Simple... they believe that by stating how cool a film "will" be that they too will be cool... the coolness coming from certain so-called "cool" director making certain "sure-to-be-cool" film... it's like mainstream "cool" people all agree that Quentin Tarantino is a "cool" director because the news media and everyone and their grandmothers say that "Pulp Fiction" is the "best movie ever" and "hella cool", so all the uncool people who want to be "cool" believe that by embracing so-called "cool" phenomenon that is "Pulp Fiction", that they too will be deemed "cool". The opinion itself has little to do with the film as they have not seen the film ["kill bill"], but more to do with popular perception and popular opinion. No one knows whether said film sucks ass or not... but it "must be cool" because it has "the coolest director in the history of directors" at its helm. Meanwhile it probably doesn't matter much but these same people who say it is the coolest film ever are basically obsessed fan-boys or whatever is "cool" at the time. Generally this is true, but not always. Hell, I am a fan-boy at times too. Who isn't? Although i won't give an opinion on a film i haven't seen, and really to say "suck my dick" if you don't think certain un-seen film is "cool", is a bit homoerotic. And I don't know how cool it is to confuse "sucking dick" with "kill bill" or to relate the two to each other, because then popular conception might say that people who think "kill bill is cool" are a bunch of cocksuckers... and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

I've never seen Pulp Fiction or anything else he has ever directed. I enjoy the kung fu, and the trailer looked good.

I don't buy it. Everyone has seen Pulp Fiction and knows about Quentin Tarantino's rep... and the kung-fu is no better than kung-fu already done... and a lot of trailer's look good and end up being nothing more than a "best of" reel of the only good parts in the film...

Do you really need an example, knoxville? Are you telling me that you have never seen a trailer that gave away the entire plot of the movie? Are you telling me that you have never seen a trailer that made a film look good, then when you saw the flick, it sucked? Trailer's are false advertising. Some trailers even have scenes in them that aren't even in the movie as they got cut. trailer's mean little, and often they give too much away spoiler-style. I'm not going to give you an example, as I don't think you are a complete idiot. In fact I can only think of a few trailers that don't give away the entire film, and I won't give examples of those either as you have never seen them, and even if you had seen them, you still wouldn't realize it, and even if you realized it, you still wouldn't get it and I'd be stuck here explaining it to you all day, and I'm not up for that noise this morning...
