I don't have a ten-inch dick. Brock does.

Anyways, the only thing I've really learned from this thread is that Brock likes to provoke and that apparently most of the people on this thread enjoy being provoked.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Brock posting graphic descriptions of his busy sex life, or pictures of his car. If that's what makes him happy, and keeps a couple of you in thrall, then his time is not wasted. Neither is ours, if we don't bother to read them.

By constantly attacking Brock, who I presume knows and enjoys knowing that he's being obnoxious, you're only fanning the flames. Forget about it. He has proved himself wrong many times, but unfortunately he's also shown himself to be accurate about a few crucial things. This place IS all about Brock now, just as he said it was. You may not like it but that's what you get for playing along.

So at least there, I have to salute him. You're an asshole but you're relentless. I don't like you, and as time goes by it seems an increasing number of us (the newer Culties in particular) are starting to dislike you too, but you're right: It doesn't matter. It is moronic to argue with you, because you will be proved right about us.

Le me be pompous. Since you're apparently a fan of philosophy, you may enjoy this analogy: When Kierkegaard rebelled against Hegelianism, he had to fight hard not to use a dialectical method in his own work, or he'd be furthering the Hegelian cause. He used pseudonyms, played with narrative conventions, invented incredibly contrived scenarios in which to claim his "manuscripts" to have been "found", and made sure not to be too firm or honest in his pseudonymous declarations, to avoid adding blindly to the dialectical machine. Perhaps he failed. It seems almost impossible to avoid any kind of dialectic.

You're like Hegel, but less clever. I admire your consistency, and have warmed to what I think is your tragic (and possibly fictitious) arrogance. You've certainly stirred things up, and although I wish you hadn't resorted to the not-so-infrequent use of bullying, I think you've helped many of us "weaklings" see that we have formed reasonably strong relationships around here.

I've got a suggestion to make, and you will clearly feel free to dismiss it, but I'll make it anyway: Continue, as you mostly have since your return, not to post in threads you have no interest in. Many of us who are less acquainted with you would probably have benefited from a more innocuous introduction. You can be as astoundingly full of yourself as your heart demands it, but quit making people feel like shit. You may not like what has become of the Cult, but I do, as, I think, do most of us. Keep writing about your silly sexual escapades --- and this is something I have done as well, so it'd be stupid for me to request an end to it --- but remember that not everyone is as blasé as Morey or as comfortable with people as you seem to be. That shit you said about Barca Boy, BigShrimpn and Meatthinker was unfair, and everybody knows it, and had I been made a moderator, I'd have sent you a number of PMs until you quit it.

But I'm no mod, and I'm not one of the ancients, and when I started a thread a few weeks ago specifically requesting that this sort of abuse stop, the reception was lukewarm if not frigid. I acknowledge your presence, Brock, and even your intelligence. But I won't post in your threads if I sense an ego trip coming.

Live and let live, right.
I never said I had a ten-inch dick. Barca Boy said he had a ten-inch dick. Then corellion said some guy named Phil had a ten-inch dick. Get your facts straight before you talk out of your ass…

Provocation is not inherently evil. You guys just make it seem that way because you want it to be evil to use your brains. I provoke because if I didn’t, nothing interesting would ever be said in this place, therefore I don’t mind being ya’ll’s whipping boy…

You can’t name one time when I proved myself wrong. That’s the difference between me and you. It’s easy to slander somebody with no proof. I don’t mind if you want to make shit up though. It just adds to my persona in some way and good or bad press is the same…

I don’t think you speak for all culties, new or old… and neither do I… I think you speak for the ones who are clique-ey…

I can’t bully anybody around here, or didn’t you remember that you guys are so much smarter than me? That’s what you guys keep saying, so I assume it must be true because, like you people, I believe everything I read or whatever… such nonsense…

I can’t make people feel like shit unless they think that way. I didn’t create them or the way they think. I will continue to defend myself and if that means insulting someone who insults me first, then so be it. I wouldn’t exist if you people didn’t acknowledge me constantly by putting me down before I even say a word…

Who are you to say that my writing sucks and yours is somehow better because it’s not about me? You call what I write “silly” as if it is somehow less silly than the things you write. Fuck that. You are no better than I. You just think you are. That’s the way most people think, so I can’t fault you for that. I can fault you for feeling like you must conform to what everyone else does. That just shows that you are trying to impress people by doing what they do and how they do it. I don’t believe for a second that you people always agree. You just bite your tongue and put on a fake smile for the sake of “being happy” all the time. More nonsense…

You’re not a mod, and if you were, I’d argue with you the same. Mods aren’t always right, just like you’re not always right and I’m not always right. If your shit didn’t stink so much, you wouldn’t have to resort to harassing me with lies that you made up…

I don’t think people should abuse each other. You guys force me to be a big meanie sometimes because you are constantly insulting me first. You say my writing sucks. You say I’m mean. You say I’m worthless… on and on. I probably suffer the most abuse of anybody ever in the history of The Cult. You guys probably failed history…
You're losing it dude. The Cult is full of unhappy, miserable people. They just don't come to my thread. And after reading Phil's articulate, well thought out post followed by your Ironman-esque rambling, I feel ashamed about responding. Later dude. Hope you get your head straight.

EDIT: I've brought this up several times but you only respond to what you want to respond to. Which kinda makes you out to be a pussy. I didn't insult you, kiddo, or attack you. I said you seemed happier when you were single. If you think that's an attack, be happy that you don't run into any of us in real life. PAYCE!!!
How can I lose what you say I never had?

Phil is articulate and well-thought out in his insults of me for no reason... most definitely. It's okay for the happy people to insult but not for the people who aren't always happy like a bunch of prozac-popping mongoloids. I existed way before Ironman. I was always writing posts like this. I only respond to what I want to which makes me a pussy, like you? That is precisely why you have created a clique-ish thread where you don't respond to the "bad people" like myself, except that you do respond to me over and over to hurl insults which are completely unwarranted. You can't be a saint when you're a sinner like the rest of us. You can't be a martyr if you die for a cause not worth dying for. I like the physical threat at the end. I'd snap your fucking pinkie off and poke out your eye with it before skullfucking you, Vanilla Ice! Look at that fucking retardo pic of you with your hat on backwards acting black again for fuck sake. You don't even realize how black you think you are. Talk about an identity crisis! "PAYCE"? Again with the black stuff... yeah, later homey...

You did insult me. I don't have the time or inclination to go and look through all of your insult posts to me to find the original one right now. I wouldn't even know where to begin. You insulting me in so many threads. My writing being too long. My posts being stupid. My stories being shit, etc... why should I have to address that? You and the rest of your little gang of mopes doesn't feel it necessary to address why you have singled me out for harassment and lied about shit I said and slandered my sparkly-clean posts here on The Cult. If anything, you people are making this an unhappy place. I just started a thread about a movie and you guys started shit from there...
I'm waiting for Brock to swoop in and make a fat joke now.
I am not about to say something about fat people just because you showed up and wanted some candy. jane s. PLUS see's candie DOES NOT EQUAL fat joke, in my book of fat jokes. and wanting candy does not make a person fat... see... er, rather, see's, It's THE EATING of said candy that makes you fat... not you like "you" persay, since I know how people can be all sensitive to whether they are fat or not, especially females, but like a general kind of "you" where I could be talking about any of the fat people that it could pertain to, so in no way was I singling you out for being fat, which you're not, and see's candies did not make you fat either, because you are not fat to begin with, and I don't even know if you are a big eater of see's candies to begin with, and even if you were, they still wouldn't have made you fat, because no matter how much you might think I think you are fat, I don't think you are fat, and I do like see's candies, and it's okay to be fat if you want to... again, I mean you like in the plural general sense of the word "you", not in the jane s. sort of "you" way... NOT FAT, NO WAY NO HOW...
The theatre I went to was packed of people that were there to see that film. There was only four films showing since it is an arty theatre. I got a free poster they had in the lobby for Eastern Promises since they had a big stack of them. I know nothing about the film except the trailer I watched where Viggo is driving a taxi and talking with a russian accent. I haven't seen it, but Cronenberg has not been himself for years. Best ever Cronenberg was, of course, DEAD RINGERS...
At first I had the same reaction, he hasn't been himself and in essence he isn't, not the Cronenberg we knew from before. His ideas these days are more about the changing of personalities through character, instead of the body. I didn't really like the look of A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, but in hindsight I can see where he was coming from. I guess he's changing himself. At least he's still more interesting than some other directors from his time who seemed to have stopped being interesting after they'd made a few films.

My personal favourite(s) of his has to be THE FLY and to a certain extent VIDEODROME. VIDEODROME for me feels like the quintessential Cronenberg, but THE FLY hits me just right, a "small" in the best sense of the word, a chamber piece almost, but it's a fucking love story disguised as a horror movie. That last scene where Geena Davis' character has to unload that shotgun on Brundle-Fly just kills me. And the fade out to black as the sparks are flying and the smoke passes over the floor. Kills me.
Great thread.

The movie looks great, Brock. I did like the Sunrise/Sunset movies. I don't think I've ever seen Indian Runner either, I'll put that on the list too. Also think the new Viggo movie looks good.

And Brock, not everyone here hates you. Mr. Brown had your back too, that was a shocker. And for you Alex, the long-awaited Mr. Cassun capital C.

I don't know what part I loved more - Mr. Brown ignoring the back and forth while trying to actually stay on topic about films, or the whole Jewish Horses and Candy part.

Always entertaining.
I was really interested in the film and the ONE NIGHT IN PARIS just completely went over my head since I actually thought it was some French film I remembered from years ago, that I had completely forgotten about till I thought it was the one Spike mentioned. It was like a big bar foom loud ass discussion and I'm underneath going "Wait that film, what was that- WAIT WAIT, JUST-fuck-DUDES HELLO!"
Yeah, I gotta agree... Mr. Brown is most definitely one of the coolest Cultest's around these a-hear parts. Even if he never spoke a word, his avatar makes him awesome. It just adds that much more awesomosity that he is such an educated film buff!
I'd never thought I'd get kudos from Brock. Cheers.

I will say this though about the whole beef issue. Brock is an aquired taste actually.. I mean, I didn't get it at first either, went over my head, but the man has valid points most of the time and I have read many of his posts with much interest. It's just he wears his heart on his sleeve and just says what he thinks instead of sugarcoating it. I don't always agree with everything he says, but hell, I never always agree with anyone. Not here, not in the otuside world. You always get what you ask for with him in a sense, Not agreeing with someone is not always a fight.

I did research and got some info on the films I knew you mentioned and the ones I didn’t recognize that you mentioned. I mean, I’ve never seen videodrome or if I did I forget if I liked it or not which means I may as well not have seen it, I guess… so since many people are lazy, I did the research for them, so they don’t have a chance to let the movies you suggested slide by without at least taking a peak if they like your opinion on films, like I do…

We just finished watching harold & Maude and she went to sleep. I am still up. She loved the movie, as I knew she would, because how could anybody NOT love Harold & Maude, ya know? So what next... I'm thinking the next movie in her education will be... not french because I've shown her a bunch of french films already... maybe Rosemary's Baby, she'd definitely love the witch aspect and she likes horror so far. Either Rosemary's Baby or... I've shown her a bunch of Woody Allen which she likes a lot and American Psycho which we discussed a bunch and I really want to show her Bad Lieutenant or Taxi Driver, but I need for her to be in the right mood for something like that, so maybe Rosemary's Baby or Dario argento's Suspiria... I think she'd dig Suspiria... I dunno. I have these shelves in my room now that she put in there with al of my movies on them and the closet is filled too and basically I just walk around and look at them all and pick one based on how I feel at that moment. If I want a comedy or not. Today, I was gonna show her Crumb, but I think she just needed some romance and good music, so Harold & Maude was perfect... she loved Boogie Nights, by the way... and I can't say I blame her. Maybe Last Tango In Paris or some old Paul Newman... can you believe she doesn't know who paul Newman is but she has his salad dressing in her fridge? Wierd...

She don't know Paul Newman? Whoah, that's pretty intense. Mirka had actually reccomended I try watching HAROLD AND MAUDE after I had fallen asleep after the first ten minutes. I was tired that day. But when I started it again, definitely a keeper.

LAST TANGO IN PARIS is a definite favorite. Perfect chamber piece. (I'm seeing chamber pieces everywhere). Does she need easing into a certain film, like some people wouldn't be able to start off with ERASERHEAD, but need a BLUE VELVET to get into that certain world of Lynch.

Don't know if I ever reccomended it to you, but you sound like you'd be able to love Donald Cammell's work. WHITE OF THE EYE, or WILD SIDE (the longer cut is way better than the edited down by the distributor cut). WHITE OF THE EYE has an insane soundtrack by I think ex-Pink Floyd'ers, with SUSPIRIA-esque nods, but it's Cammell's fucked up vision that makes it truly unique. David Keith is excellent. WILD SIDE has one of the creepiest Chris Walken performances.

Thanks for the reply, interesting, give me a minute to get to it. First though, I just figured out what is next... SESSION 9. I just thought of it and how it really creeped me out seriously. Popped in my head like stuff does sometimes and I just have to get it out. It's a hynotic creepy. Like background noise creepy... my review and a trailer below. Great cast. Great acting. Great scenery. Great everything. Creepy as shit if you watch it alone in the dark...

Peanut butter. Two little so-familiar words sum up this sordidly atmospheric psychological/horror thriller. Combining a real-life lunatic asylum (Danvers Hospital... established 1855... condemned 1984… infamous for developing the frontal lobotomy procedure) with inspired casting and great acting, this is a true film gourmet’s entree...

Reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining in that the asylum itself is truly a ‘sixth character’ that drives the other five talented actors into a realm unlike any other. The Scottish-born 1998 Cannes film festival best actor winner (for My Name is Joe) Peter Mullan (who plays the leader of the five men assigned to clean asbestos from the asylum in this film, and is a foul-mouthed, brilliant actor) summed it up in an interview when he said that it wasn’t difficult to be performing for real in old hospital – it was creepy...

Similar at points to other great films like Dario Argento’s colourfully yet ominously-lit Susperia and David Fincher’s subdued yet extremely creepy Se7en, this film is nothing short of a classic. Parts of what we see onscreen are reminiscent of flashbacks from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (spiders, the skyline, a cemetery, and the overgrown outsides), The Blair Witch Project (underground tunnel scenes and the first victim’s demise), and Stir of Echoes (plastics, flashbacks and really depressing victimization) as ghosts from the past wreak vengeance upon the weak and woe-begotten few...

Starring Mullan (The Claim, Orphans), David Caruso (Kiss of Death, Jade), Josh Lucas (American Psycho, A Beautiful Mind), Brendan Sexton III (Boys Don’t Cry, Hurricane Streets), Paul Guilfoyle (One Tough Cop, Wall Street), and Steve Gevedon (Smoke and co-writer of Session 9), this film even has a great small cameo from the ever-so talented indie-flick maverick Larry Fessenden who wrote, starred and directed in 1997’s pseudo-vampire film Habit. Essentially, think of the great remake of House on Haunted Hill by William Malone (1999) instead of William Castle (1958), except this time it has even greater actors... and a much better director... and those two had some of the best ever...

This is a film about mistreatment, misdiagnosis and miscommunication – not to mention medieval practices of torture masked as mental patient treatment. Most of it’s subliminal, but we all know the sort of haphazard regard give to those suffering from confusion and delusion. Enough films have shown mental problems (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Shine to name two good ones), and I certainly appreciate the candid disillusionment this film shows. It doesn’t rub our faces in it, instead showcasing our own very real fears and deranged thoughts – in other words, there’s not much violence on screen, as most of it is imagined. That means your mind is your own worst enemy if fright overwhelms you...

I love the minimalist approach to the score and the music; it’s mostly just one piano key played upon more than once. The generator supplying electricity to the facility reminds me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the occasional mullet-haired rock music anthem from Sextonis welcomed as well. The final epiphany comes in the form of a very ‘Donald Sutherland in Don’t Look Now’ way, as we realize the truth much too late. This movie is well worth watching, and a film I have filed among my personal all-time greats, and now the older nympho chick must see it too...

I actually showed her David Lynch's WILD AT HEART and she absolutely loved it beyond belief. She said it was the best Nicholas Cage she had ever seen, and I know she has seen at least one other Nicholas Cage film because we watched LEAVING LAS VEGAS a few months back when we got really drunk and had a fight. At least I was really drunk. Good times... I think I need to get drunk everytime I watch LEAVING LAS VEGAS. Like I have to be on amphetamines to watch HURLY BURLY. Or I have to inject candy corn intravenously into my veins before I watch the SCREAM series, even though I used to have the biggest crush on Neve Campbell for some reason, like maybe I was drunk back then more or on more drugs and not thinking clearly...

Tango in Paris is awesome, but I already showed her this French film called L’ENNUI fairly recently and it is very similar with the sex and the room and stuff. Very claustrophobic, very little outside sets or perhaps what you mean by chamber pieces…

http://imdb.com/title/tt0168740/ < L’ENNUI trailer is available through this site link for trailers, I’ve watched it three times since I bought it. That’s saying a lot…

I actually bought WHITE OF THE EYE on VHS tape at Hollywood video a couple years ago when they were liquidating their “library” section of older movies for like $2.99 I believe. I have a shitload of VHS. Old criterion VHS tapes still in original packaging, I have a fetish for shit like that. She says I could make some money selling them, and I know they are worth a bunch, plus some of my laserdiscs and dvds, but I dunno. Money is just something I can always get more of. Art however… David Keith is a pretty cool actor, I guess. I remember liking the film but not terribly loving it… maybe I should rewatch it to see how I feel about it now. Did you know that David Keith started out acting on tv’s Happy Days? I always find myself telling the older nympho chick all about the actors and stuff like who was in what and how we just saw them in the last movie we saw and how this movie was older and they were younger, like, when I went to see 2 DAYS IN PARIS, the had a trailer for the remake of Sleuth and she agreed, after we spoke, that we should watch the original which I also have on special edition vhs. My vhs tapes, as low quality as some of them are, look oh so good on any one of her huge widescreen Vizio tv’s she has mounted on the walls of every room on movable brackets like in a hospital room… when you put it right in the wall it is flat and looks like a big painting with screen savers and stuff, but when it’s on, it’s the best tv ever, and I mean that, like, I have been livingoff of a 27-inch for years and I feel like I’m movin’ on up to the east side or something… I remember WILDSIDE I don’t have… I saw it on Showtime years ago. The one with the Chinese chick in it and the other girl and Walken. I can’t believe she doesn’t know who Walken is. I plan on showing her Dead Zone soon too. I have them all lined up. I was freaked when we saw Annie Hall and Walken was doing the part about wanting to drive straight into oncoming traffic in his deadpan weird statement-as-question sort of pronunciation and I was all excited and told the older nympho chick who it was in case she didn’t notice and she was all WHO IS CHRISTOPHER WALKEN? And I was all OKAY, STOP THE FUCKING MOVIE, WE NEED TO TALK!

Apparently she doesn't know who Walken is because she has a master's degree and I don't. She worked hard in school and I watched movies or something. We had a little fight, but it ended up good...
