TV Talk
as bad as a movie as Cable Guy was. I got to admit, they got me.
When I was watching that thing, sitting there just groaning at how bad it was, I kept thinking "I'm going to go ahead and sit through this whole thing, just to see what all happens with the whole ben stiller hollywood twins killing subplot." And then it ended the way it did and I could only respect the movie, nodding my head thinking "Okay, you won this round, Stiller! But we will meet again!"
And yet, before watching an episode of WKUK tonight on IFC they ran a commercial for Dexter season 4 premiering this coming Sunday night. Whatsupwithdat?!?
I think they've shown the first episode to test audiences or something because it's on various torrent sites.
!
No one say anything about Numb3rs tonight if you saw it. Or if you do, for the love of God, put Spoiler tags around it.
I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet and I want to find out on my own if she agreed to marry him or not, so until I get it viewed I don't wanna know nothing about nothing, like when guys try not to listen to the news or anything for fear of spoiling a ball game they recorded to watch later.
Season Premiere of SNL is on tonight with Megan Fox hosting, which means it'll most likely suck. I'll probably still watch it though because I do so love me some Fred Armisen. Funnily enough, I hate that Will Forte for the same reason I like Fred. They both seem to really be trying to work with experimental comedy and come up with new ideas. It's just all of Will Forte's seem to fall flat, whereas Fred's are usually great.
Plus, maybe they'll have a good Digital Short.
This Sunday starts off the new season for Dexter and Californication.
Both shows I enjoy to watch on Showtime.
aside from that.
I'm really enjoying that new HBO series BORED TO DEATH. The one with Jason Schwartzmann, Zach Galifanikis, And Ted Danson. Jason is typical Jason fodder with his role but Zach and Danson both are funny and Danson is going to be the one that steals the show with his portrayal of Jason's boss.
Nate Fringe is good. Its a show you do need to sit through the entire season though. They tend to always do a slow build up with the overall story. I they tend to you hanging on a lot important pieces you want to know more about. Like Peter's past and what not.
Supernatural is a decent show that is a guilty pleasure of mine. Its mostly the brother dynamic of the show and the relationship between the brothers that is interesting. Its a pretty sly funny action occult series. Worth watching. Only show worth a damn on the CW.
Its always sunny in Philadelphia. New season is great.
How I met Your Mother. another good start to a season.
I don't know about any of this years new series out so far. Haven't really seen anything to wow me.
But shows you could be watching or trying out.
Has anyone seen any of the commercial for this new show The League? About some dudes in a fantasy football league.
It looks pretty good, but it would really standout if they were somehow able to film alongside the real football season and incorporate things that really happen on the field into the show. But they've probably already filmed the entire season and they'll be talking about goofy shit that the people that are in fantasy football are going to be all "What the F?" over, and if they can't make those fans like the show it's gonna tank!
the league looks pretty funny, yeah. and i saw dexter streamed on a website. i saw a status update somewhere that said it was leaked online. showtime probably leaked it on purpose to get a buzz going before it premieres.
thinking back, I think last year, the first three episodes were leaked online. Because I made some thread with all kinds of crazy spoilers pissing people off about it.
I think jane made the thread and I dropped fake spoiler bombs on it.
The first episode of Dexter usually is put out pretty early by Showtime. I remember getting a free disc of the season premieres of Dexter, Weeds, and the Tudors at Best Buy at about the same time Dexter was premiering on TV. I think you can also watch it on their website. They basically use the first episode as an extended trailer to hook you for the rest of the season. Worked on me!
There is hope, but not for us.
i finally caught the season premiere of californication last night. it felt kind of forced to me and it stumbled a lot with the jokes and stuff. but i can kind of see where the season is going, it was still an ok episode. and i remember last season's premiere was kind of lame but it turned out to be a really good season. kathleen turner was awful though, i hope she's not like that through the whole season. but yeah, i love this show.
glee is on my dvr now. i changed it there last night out of curiosity and the first thing i see is the school nurse giving kids pseudoephedrine and telling them it's good for them or something. it was retarded funny, i wish i could remember some of the lines from it.
I've caught a couple episodes of Community and think it's pretty funny.

Fuck Community! They canceled My Name is Earl for that shit!
Yeah, I think Community is pretty good. My Name Is Earl has been going down the drain for like 2 seasons.

"Am I cruel? Probably. Is she an idiot? Yes." -jane s.
You like that show too?!
Geez, Nate!
You jackanapes wouldn't know funny if it fell out of the sky, landed on your face and started to wiggle!
Maan, great episode of Peep Show last night. Some great lines:
Jez: "I'm having fun!"
Mark: "Me too! Well, I'm not, but it's like I am!"
!
Haha, I want to check out Peep Show, you guys make it sound awesome.
Anyone else catch the season premeire of 30 Rock? It had some funny moments but overall it kind of didn't hang together as an episode for me. I suppose it's because they were trying to shoehorn in plotlines to develop for the rest of the season.
There is hope, but not for us.
Thought I'd continue the Dexter discussion over here.
Something I didn't realise until I read about it in a review of the episode is that it could have been 'The Vacation Killer' or someone pretending to be him.
!
that makes more sense. i wish i was smarter.
my friend brought up something else last night. it's a little far-fetched but you never know these days. anyway, maybe it was the cop who killed her dad's secret lover back in the day because deb was investigating that at the beginning of the season, remember? i don't know, it made sense last night. that would explain why they haven't touched on that affair story anymore this season because they want to trick us.
I'm not sure I understand, wasn't their dad's secret lover Dexter's mother? Then she got killed in front of him by some drug dealers (or something), and then Dexter killed him in series two. My suspicion is that Dexter's adopted father might actually be his real father, depends on how long the affair was going on for.

Any Brits here watch The Thick Of It last night? I love that show so much!
!
The 'HU IZ DA FAR-VA OF HEVVA'S BAYBEE' storyline on Eastenders is beyond disgusting. Darren? SRSLY? Is that even legal?
See:

Heather.

Darren.
Ugh.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
Some great Malcolm Tucker quotes from The Thick Of It the other night:
MT: I've got more on my plate than a spinster at a wedding. That isn't a reference to your daughter by the way.
then later
MT: Forget him, he's a total abortion. That isn't a reference to your daughter by the way.
!
So, pretty interesting episode of Mad Men the other night, the one we've been waiting for this season. I thought they did it quite well.
!
Did you see the Halloween episode? THey're really hitting their stride now, I'm enjoying it.
And sadly, Earl turned from something good into something horrible around the midpoint of season 2. Then they did that whole coma thing with the sitcom-within-a-sitcom, and it was over.
I'm really surprised that TBS hasn't jumped all over picking up My Name is Earl. They seem to be really going for putting on they're own programming lately and with that, you've already got a built in audience. Even if they only pick it up for a couple seasons, that's still that many more shows that they'd have the rights to and wouldn't have to pay syndication for. Oh well.
TBS only does original content that is horribly unfunny.

another chance for them to step up their game. but they passed it up. they'll always be bush-league!
Man, awesome last episode of Mad Men, really tied the series together. I think I liked the third one better than the second season.
!
i'm not gonna ruin anything about dexter last night but that show consistently blindsides me. i was like 'why would _________ shoot deb and lundy? that makes no sense.' and then in the last 2 seconds of the episode they threw in a plot-twist and my jaw literally dropped. i had no idea.
i know what you mean.
Yeah, Thanks Giving at the Trinity household was pretty intense, wasn't it?
"I don't care what you've done with her, what you're going to do with her...just don't tell her father, ok?"

the best part was when he dragged trinity into the kitchen. well the best part was the end but the second best part was when he dragged him into the kitchen.
Yeah I was really happy when he dragged Trinity, at first it didn't look like Dexter was going to do anything. He just seemed to sit there while Trinity and his son got into it, then all of a sudden he ripped his belt off and I go way too excited.

So I'm watching Robin Williams new HBO special. Who woulda thought he could still be funny after all these years? he's still got some gems in there.
Dug up my DVD set of Kids in the Hall. That show is still funny and will forever be funny.

Holy crap, Brothers&Sisters is killing me! Whyyy end last night's episode like that, gah. Cliffhangers are poopy.
EDIT_
Another shock just now. I had no idea Matthew Rhys ["who?"] ISN'T American.
Him as Kevin on the show:
Him being his Welsh self:
My head hasn't accepted the Welsh accent yet.
the people at showtime need to stop spoiling dexter with their promos. i know there's only one episode left, but still. i'm just not gonna watch the promos anymore.
Yeah I normally miss all the promos because they're not included when I download the show, but because I have to wait until the next day before I see the show I sometimes run across spoilers anyway. I'm excited to see how they wrap up this season, I'm hoping that Trinity gets away, or at least doesn't die. They've ended every season so far in almost the exact same way, someone finds out about Dexter so he kills them. It would be nice if that didn't happen this time around, and I think Trinity is such a great character he ought to be kept in the show.
Oh, and I'm glad Dollhouse is back. Those were some pretty good episodes on Friday night, now I wanna see how much of Epitaph One they can explain before the end of the season in about six episodes time.
so i got this thing in my email from nielsen asking me if i wanted to share my opinion about californication so i decided to take the survey. well it turned out to take about 45 minutes to finish and the questions were really specific and detailed about all the characters from season 3 and a bunch of other stuff. so anyway, if californication is really good next season, you'll have me to thank.
I thought the Nielson things were just a gauge. I didn't think they had any say over what actually gets produced.
well the email was from showtime but the survey had neilsen all over it so i don't know. i was hoping for something cool at the end like a t-shirt or something because it took so long but no dice.
I started watching the first season of Big Love and it's great! Hooray!
What's that about, Imke? I've been seeing it on my on demand and just didn't know if it was worth a go or not...
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Centers around a polygamist and his relationship with the three wives, all whom he is married to.
- IMDB
I've always kind of wanted to watch it, but I would forget about it again.
huh, I bet the mormons are having a field day with that one...sounds intriguing.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Anybody watching The Pacific? Second part's on tonight.
I got to see the first two episodes last weekish...the cast came and screened them with us on base.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."

The Cable Guy also grew up on regular networking. duhhhhhhhh!!!
I wasn't referring to the programming but more so your obsession with TV and your response just added to my theory.
