TV Talk
Watched my first episode of Dr Who. Why do people like this again? It's so corny.
Was it the first episode? Because that one is a bit much. Season 1 is the worst season because the Doctor isn't great. There are two episodes in that season that I cannot watch again because they are so bad. And as the show goes on the effects get better as the budget gets bigger.
But other than that, you need to embrace the corny or get past it. It's kind of part of the magic. In season 5 they dropped almost all of the corny and it's still amazing but it's just not the same. It's like a different show.

Omar is my favorite. Mcnulty was second. Then Snoop. I hated Method Man.

Si. It was the first episode. From 2005. I figure it has a huge following, I'll give it a try.
1st episode was 1963. Accept no substitutes.

Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlin.
It's like a tv chalupa. Overstuffed with cheesey goodness.

Omar was sooooo great. I agree with Mcnulty (so naughty!) and Snoop (took us a while to realise she was a girl!) too.

I'm bummed at how he went out, and that they took out his nice blind friend too.
I think the School Kid/Education Season was my favourite.
I actually watched that one for the first time today. Not much happened.

Can you still see the zips on all the monster costumes?
The monsters are REAL.

Exterminate!

I believe the Tardis is REAL. But I'm really not sure about those monsters.
I want a Dalek so bad. Or at least Dalek salt and pepper shakers.
Thanks Justin (and everyone else) for your suggestions.
Totally agree. I used to absolutely love watching Doctor Who growing up (there were a lot of BBC re-runs) and I remember getting the comic now and then but since they brought the show back in 2005 I've felt nothing for it. I really hate all the new Doctors.
Psst....Dexter fans:

WHAT! I can see you not liking Matt Smith, but how can you hate David Tennant?

Because he's utterly annoying and the most overexposed actor in BBC productions?

Yeah they didn't have to do the blind guy, that was sad. I want to start it over but it seems daunting.
I've been watching Battlestar Galactica (2003, 2004-). I love it! Who knew it was so well written. Why didn't any of you tell me?
Oh my god, that show is fucking brilliant. It's a shame more people don't know about it. They hear the title and automatically assume it will be the nerdiest, cheesiest sci-fi show ever. But it's incredibly well written, and it has a pretty good production value. My mom even likes it.

It was recommended to me by this girl like 4-5 years ago. She followed it with - "yeah I'm a nerd." So I never gave it a shot because I'm very picky about sci-fi. But after watching the 2 episode miniseries (basically the intro to the show), I was hooked. It's incredibly well written with all the mythology, the language, the cross references to Earth and who we really are. It's amazing.
And just like Prison Break, Pete, it starts strong, ends weak.
No it doesn't.

Yeah (SPOILERS), when they get finally to Earth and suddenly have super powers, what the fuck was up with that?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if I missed something big.

One thing! And she wasn't even definitely that.
That was the only thing that bothered me about the ending, though. They didn't even try to explain her.

I'll be the judge of if it ends weak! haha
Either way, I'm enjoying the show as of now.
Steve thinking this show is great might just get me to try out Dr. Who.

Bizarro authors, sci-fi shows, what's happening to me?
I'm sure I did at some point. I wanted everyone to know the wonderfulness that is Battlestar Galactica while I was watching it on Netflix last year. Definitely not just for sci-fi geeks/nerds. Don't fall for Caprica though. JUST DON'T!

i knew someone had made a thread
Well this just proves that I only discuss things when it's convenient for me.
I pictured you saying that like a prom queen/head cheerleader type girl.
Uncanny! Did you also picture the cute pink outfit that I'm wearing too?
I did and I ran to the bathroom cuz I wasn't sure what was happening

Is your name Debbie? I bet it's Debbie.

If the pink outfit thing was open question, then yes, all the time.
Okay not all the time. But right now.
Funny thing is - IRL I wear black t-shirts or button downs and jeans. I'm plain. haha
The new Skins was really good. Series 5 was kind of meh but now that 6 started, it's like seeing old friends again. The show is just a big character study i guess? I'm like "Don't go out with that fool Luke, go out with Nick instead!" or "Aw, look, she's gaining weight after that whole eating-disorder thing" like they're real people.
The US Skins?
Because the British one kinda sucks and I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother with it anymore. It went downhill after Generation 1 anyway.
God No. The US Skins didn't even finish the first season, it was so bad. I love the British one. It's kitschy.
Who's Luke then? The "dangerous" guy?
You should also check out Slide. It's somewhat in the same vein as Skins, only they're older and Australian. It's just one season and I'm sure it's online somewhere.
Yeah you nailed Luke. Dangerous pretty boy and the naive girl is falling for him.
He's not that pretty in my opinion. And why the hell does Matty have to disappear? He didn't even have his own episode in season 5 and now he's gone.
Matty is a goon, he's secretly a lunatic and worse than Freddy. But remember, he was 'hiding' when he first appeared last season.
I liked Freddy! And yes, you're right. Maybe we get to know more this season. I don't want it to be all Mini going lesbo over Franky.
You like the weirder, philosophical ones, huh.
I loved Effy. I am not a reliable fan.
Effy's my favorite from the whole show. They handled her character really well.

I used to watch the original betty la Fea which I really enjoyed. I also love Ugly Betty because ironically its way more over the top than the original novela.
I never saw Ugly Betty but I remember Betty La Fea being awesome. Then I saw a bit of it about a year ago and everything just felt weird and off. Then I realized it was the fact that she wasn't being played by America Ferrera (Betty in the newer Ugly Betty). Again, I'd never seen the new show but just years of seeing the promos did that.
Anyway, Colombian novelas kick Mexican novelas' collective asses.
