Traditionally Animated Films Appreciation Thread
There was a period from the late 80's to the late 90's that was just filled with awesome animated films like these:

Whoa, this was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY back when I didn't mind Robin WIlliams.

Ferngully was my undisputed favourite growing up.
Although, the lazy eye in an American Tail: Goes West, is classic.
The 80's and 90's?
Bah.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
My favorite, just ahead of Fern Gully

Bah.
Exactly. Outside of Japan animation was dead.

The Iron Giant is probably the best recent hand-drawn feature.
I'm assuming by "traditional animation" you are excluding stop-motion works. Or are you just excluding CGI? Regardless of your feelings on Burton (I refuse to join the backlashing), I think one has to acknowledge The Nightmare Before Christmas for what it is.
IGN.com has a couple interesting (and wildly different) lists of their 25 best animated features of all-time, though they don't discriminate between CGI, stop-motion, and hand-drawn. One goes with Beauty and the Beast (mostly hand-drawn, some CGI background work), while the other picks Toy Story 2.
Depends, I guess, on what you are looking for. Artistry? Story-telling? Over-all "success" (obviously other than box office) as a film?
Favorites of mine include Disney's Snow White (for sheer beauty), 101 Dalmations (created a totally new style of art), Alice in Wonderland (characters and backgrounds).
Also, people forget Akira. I can't claim it with authority though as I only saw it once, and that on a metric fuckload of LSD.

Alice in Wonderland is definitely my favourite in terms of the total animation experience. Snow White, The Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty would be up there for me too. Also I really like Hercules, one of the very last traditionally animated films Disney did in the late 90's. The art direction is superb.

No.

'99. Barely made the cut!

I love Disney's Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast. Dumbo ALWAYS makes me cry...
On a lighter note:
I personally like Lilo & Stitch for using watercolor for their background.
It was one of the first things I noticed when I watched it and I loved that aspect of the movie.
As far as traditional animated films...I'm an animation junkie. I have most of the Disney movies from Snow White all the way to Mulan.
I also have Land Before Time and Fievel Goes West which are some of my favorites as well. Many people aren't too fond of Bambi but I have to say it's overall one of my favorites. I love the music and the animation.
God, Disney made my childhood. Snow White is my absolute favourite.
Bambi used to make me so sad when I was a kid
I was retarded for not appreciating this at a younger age.

I've never seen Bambi, Dumbo, Sleeping Beauty, nor Alice in Wonderland. It's pretty crazy, I know.
If we're talking about ANY animated classic, my personal favorites that I watched over and over and over and over and over... and over as a child were Lion King, Jungle Book, The Fox and the Hound, and these gems that nobody's bothered putting up a video for...
(I still whistle this song from time to time)

i can't believe belleville rendezvous has been overlooked... and Paprika?? and why does this thread not include any claymation or suchlike??
I suppose the words 'Traditionally Animated' are what you're looking for in response.

I can't describe the love I feel for Wall-E.
Jaz, I love that you mentioned Fievel Goes West, I had that movie as well! Beauty and the Beast is the ultimate Disney movie for me.
The Secret of Nimh made a big impression on me as well when I was little. I just thought it was beautiful and sad and creepy.

You know what famous animated film I DON'T like?
Beauty and the Beast, because they rendered the entire movie pointless with that ending.

Beauty & The Beast contained CGI, btw.
I don't remember how the ending differs from, say, the Cocteau version.

How about Light Years, from 1998. Anyone ever heard of that one? It's a Sci Fi movie, completely animated -Glenn Close does a voice.
