"This CD is... amazing..."
I'm out buying some shit at Best Buy and the guy in front of me is buying the Evanescence CD and the cashier chick says "This CD is... amazing. I listen to it twice a day."
I weep for the world.

I can't believe people don't see past their blatant attempt to look tortured. They're like Linkin Park with a chick singer.
they're like spice girls minus 4 add prefabricated band add popular music choice of the time add second popluar choice of music of the time minus any creative idea equals evanescence.
Well put. I hope their tour bus crashes.
I think every self respecting person hopes that.
Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism.
I smiled when they guy from Drowning Pool bit the big one.
Then again, I might be wrong.
He's dead??!!
You know, when I first heard that song, for months I thought the chorus was "let the bicycle go, let the bicycle go." I thought it was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard.
Later, when I found out it was "let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor" I wasn't any happier.
And it's the harshest thing you can say but I'm happy he's dead.
Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism.
it would have been better if it really was "let the bicycle go"
i would have listened to it then...
Well.
All I'm gonna say is... it's a little bit sick that you're saying you hope this person dies because they make this kind of music, and you're glad this person died, etcetera.
I mean, she's a pretty talented singer, band notwithstanding, so I've been indifferent. If the girl can sing, the girl can sing and I won't discourage bands from having members that can actually sing.
And for the Drowning Pools guy, I know he was a horrible musician, and died of a drug overdose, but still, I wouldn't be one to say that I'm glad he died... maybe it's just me.
eh.
I dunno if I'm glad, but it's funny as hell.
Let the bodies hit the floor, indeed.
She can't sing. She can sing high notes, but she can't sing.
Oh yeah, when the chorus hits when the "real" singing is supposed to start the voice is all enhanced with synth.
Anyway, I was more relieved that I wouldn't have to worry about any new material from them than relieved that the guy was dead. I would have been just as satisfied had some freak accident occured between a scorpion and his vocal chords, leaving him unable to sing.
Speaking of Evanescence, they're watching it in the other room. God dammit.
Then again, I might be wrong.
I just realized a great Matrix analogy. We are the unplugged and all those mindless drones are still plugged into their narrowminded fantasy worlds.
I have not known anyone that was like us but then changed over to become a society drone. Almost as if they cannot get back. AS if we cannot go back. Like in the Matrix We took the red(?) pill and there is no turning back.

I'm just all about that fat cat.
Okay, first of all, maestro976 gets my vote for best avatar. Jenneeefur Looopezz, I like Tacos and Burritos! Hahahahahaha! Fuckin Classic!
Free tickets or not Plastic, the Vines still suck and you went to go see them, so you kinda suck now too ; )
Good point twosmokin, I can really see that. However, just to throw this in, like in the Matrix, everything serves a purpose. I like listening to that Drowning Pool song when I lift weights or when I'm grappling at my academy.
Suck me beautiful...
I once listened to Nine Inch Nails "Further Down The Spiral" while lifting weights. It was like 54 minutes in hell.

Yeah pretty much. I had never heard them before the concert so it was confirmed once I went that they're bad. Excuses, I know, but trust me that the opening act, The Music, was far worse, and they deserve their own special place in hell.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA!
people get pissed off about evanescense but will justify tatu.
I do believe she nailed us.
Didn't nail me. I think the Evanescence chick is hot. Not that that's going to make me listen to her music, but hey, I always happen to see that album cover.. And I can't say that it's disappointing.
I would love to stick my penis inside of that evanescence chick, but as for the tatu girls, they make me soft in the pants. I saw a picture of them w/o makeup and I also found out that they really aren't lesbians. F that BS
Who cares if they aren't lesbians? Your chances are increased... not severely, but they're increased. And that's HOT.
Disx, best avatar ever.
music has sucked since 1996

Yeah, I've felt that way a lot. Unfortunately, my favorite albums have all been released since then, shining spots in a sea of homogenous poop.
I think music's about to make a come back. This happens once a decade. Look at the early 90s, the early 80s, the early 70s. It's a cycle. And soon Hardcore/ emo will become the next new pop the way grunge metal like Nirvana and early Soundgarden got distilled into Creed.
In the early 80s, disco was destroyed by the alleigance of punk rock and new wave which eventually led to crap like Mexican Radio and late Billy Idol and Poison.
And in th early 70s, Pink Floyd plugged in the gitars of a shitload of dirty fucking hippies and showed them how to use a mixing studio.

I was just about to post that.
they're *BOTH* trying to damn hard.

evanescence is okay. live she's horrible to watch, you watch her face and you'd think she was screaming/singing at the top of her lungs....and she's practically whispering.
But whatever.
i reiterate: music has sucked since about 1996. with the exception of NIN's "the fragile" which came out in '99.
it's amazing the fucking shit i'm willing to swallow now. back when music was still halfway decent, i thought green day was a sellout pop-punk band. now they're like punk legends to some of these little shits who wouldn't know black flag or op ivy or even the sex pistols if they jumped up and bit them in the ass.
i couldn't STAND korn back in the day. now, after years and years of constant tripe, i put in "follow the leader" and was like, "eh, this is pretty good."
blah.

There's plenty of good music coming out. Most of it just isn't on the radio. *shrug*
korn is not good, but they aren't horrible either. they get a lot of unfair criticism because they did change their sound alot and they are the posterboys for mtv rock/metal
well, i only listen to the radio to find out about music, so what would i know.

Negatory, OK Computer came out in 1997.
Then again, I might be wrong.
i'm going to agree with this to a point. i think disx has said it better...
but i'm going to say it my own way.
"popular" and "alternative" music has sucked for a long time, possibly even before '96. it's amazing how i can open my cd case, and the only things i will pick out of it will be the older cds, or music that never really got played on the radio, like Rusted Root, or things you can only find on "oldies" or "classic rock" stations like hendrix, clapton etc.
i'm sick enough of this new prefab. stuff they're shitting out left and right. like american idol. yea, they can sing, but that doesn't make their music good. at least back in the days of prefab music, elvis and everyone else who had their music written for them, it looked authentic, and the music itself was something good, instead of just slapping a person with a good voice on a stage with some shitty background noise.
It doesn't seem like there are very many good bands I'm ever really excited about. Most of the stuff I *really* like is pretty old...well, not "old" like 70's old...but around the 1994-97 time.
=o\
I find it amusing that a good lot of people says only the "Classics" are good, when the "Classics" are basically a very large collection of every band that didn't suck. Of course they're good, you heard of them, right? But you weren't there at the time, also listening to all the shite disco coming out, and the sappy ballads, so on and so forth.
20 years from now, our decade will be summed up in 5 bands just like every other decade is...
Define good music, anyway. It's all relative.
Good music: Red Army Choir Favorites for $5.99. This CD is... amazing.
Then again, I might be wrong.
Sorry to be stuck on this 1996 thing, but........
Tool - Lateralus
Datsuns -
NIN - Fragile
AudioSlave -
Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms (is that how its spelt???)
Pearl Jam - No code, Yield, Riot Act, at least 10 of the live albums
Placebo - Without you Im nothing,
Ben Harper - Live from Mars, Diamonds on the inside
Chemical Brothers - Brothers Gonna work it out (mix)
Beck - Midnight Vulchars
At the Drive in -
Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
Bands where EVERY album has been Good since 1996
-RadioHead
-White Stripes
-Concord Dawn
-Roni Size
-God Speed
And theres probably hundreds of others!!
The same people that are saying todays music is shit are probably the same people who in 1996 were saying music hasnt been good since 1992.
Cheer up. And do a little searching. If you sift through enough shit you'll find good music. You just have to make the effort.
The Dude that went to the Vines is a total conformist (he was so proud untill people started taking the piss).
So all of the "High Fidelity" elitists out there please leave that poor girl alone. Sure, that whole nu metal vibe is shit but how many people have actually sat down and listened to the entire album with an open mind before condeming it. When I heard the first single all I heard was potential (she could be the next Tori Amos). The first part of the song was ok and the chick is pretty hot.......
I won't hate a song for being in a genre... I mean, I dislike Linkin Park, but 'Faint' is a spiffy song. Not deep in any way, but it's got an energy to it.
When I heard Evanescence, the first thing I thought was, well, I don't like the music, but Kudos to her for being a female rock vocalist who can actually sing (Celine Dion, she is not. But thank GOD she's not pulling some Kitty shit by growling and sounding like she swalled 2 pints of sulphuric acid. I fucking hate that sound)
I think that she more than deserves kudos for being an example of how actual vocal talent (Again, it's all in perspective. She's a good-not-great singer, but in comparison with everyone else around her she's somewhat Godlike) can work within rock music.
Same with 'The Roots'... can't say as I like their music, but I do like the fact that an all black band has actually gotten somewhere. I've always hated the fact that there are no black musicians anymore who aren't rappers or R&B artists...
anyways, yeah.
ok, i should have known better than to make a generalization without qualifying it. i did not mean to impugn every individual album that came out after 1996. what i meant by it was that i feel like 1996 was the year that music directed at me and my (our) generation passed. i mean back then i knew Mtv was commercial and such, but they still put shit on there you wouldn't see now--like, oh, say, MUSIC VIDEOS. i fell in love with nine inch nails in 1994. how? by seeing their video late at night on Mtv. Mtv sucks donkey balls now that carson daly's up there sucking everyone's cock for five hours every afternoon, but backwhen they actually played MUSIC (in that era) it was a pretty good resource, especially for a sheltered suburban teen like myself. fuck, they even played better videos on beavis and butthead than they do now. they played rancid, for chrissakes. they even used to play marilyn manson videos. when's the last time you saw one of them?
what i mean is that 1996/1997 is about when the britney thing hit, right around when hot-pink plastic barbie doll teen pop BARF took over the charts. and yes, when i say the charts, i am referring to POPULAR music. i know that's anaethma to most people here, and obviously not every single note produced since then has sucked, but 1996 is the last time, as i've said, i felt that even the most popular things were respectable--alice in chains, STP, korn, metallica, nine inch nails, marilyn manson, the offspring, etc., etc. i know you can quibble with all those bands i've named, and no doubt someone will be along shortly to call me a stupid poseur, but come on. which would YOU rather be forced to listen to?
