The Watergate Soundtrack
I have to write a paper about historical Nixon in comparison to the Nixon in Watchmen. Any suggestions on what particular songs, albums, artists, genre of music I should listen to while writing such a piece?

That sounds perfect. I shall see if I can find anything on that. HST may also shed some light on what it is I need to write.
thanks tietz
in the late 80's, G Gordon Liddy released an album of Jefferson Airplane covers.
it's probably out of print by now though.
is his penis deformed or something? harharharharhar
A friend of mine used to live in Nixa, MO.
how about some Elvis songs?

Brad and Janet were listening to Nixon's resignation speech when their car broke down near Frankenfurter's place. One might argue that it was placed there to show how meaningless he had become to ordinary Americans, like Brad and Janet.
Oh, and if you're a fan of Haunted, Mr. Nixon was from Whittier, CA, I think.
Yes Nixon was from my hometown which is a quaker town. I used to work at the free masons temple(?) every tuesday for lions club meetings.
Also my dumbass fell asleep instead of completing any homework. No bueno.
Creedence.
Is.
Mandatory.
This is why we can't have nice things.
man, whatever happened to those guys?
Creedence?
In the late 70's, I lived up the street from John Fogerty. This was at a time when he was "retired" from music because his former manager owned the rights to all of John's songs and he would get sued into oblivion if he performed. His house was very regular and his dogs were always in heat. John eventually went on to have a career revival in the 80's. His brother, Tom Fogerty, is long-dead. No idea about the other two.

CCR were a really fucking good band.

Yes, now I need to hear I heard it through the grapevine among other songs they performed.

no. now you need to hear every song they performed.
speaking of which, is CCR in that greatest hits albums you should own thread? After you get done with this assignment we can make this the Great bands that should be listed in the greatest hits albums you should own thread.

I wonder if he'd still get sued if he did the whole give away his music online and just ask for donations thing. Probably.
anyways, how about that Nixon, huh? He was crazy!
My favorite part of the Big Lebowski is when the dude first gets his car back and he's jamming CCR and banging on the ceiling and smoking a joint and he tries to flick it out the window but the window doesn't go down (remember?) so the joint lands in his lap and he freaks out and pours beer on it and crashes into the dumpster.
Anyway, CCR is a good choice.

they totally stole that scene from Planes Trains and Automobiles.
Same with the scene where they're tossing Danny's ashes. Straight ripped off of Mel Brook's Life Stinks.
that's the only two things I didn't like about Lebowski,
Check out Lambchop's "Nixon".
Brilliant album. Not directly about Nixon, but they use him as a weird backdrop to the songs. There's even a Nixon biography list in the CD sleeve notes. The cover art has the word Nixon sat in a farm pool like its poisoning the water.
(Sleevenotes. Remember them?)
Also, John Fogarty rocked the bejingles out of Glastonbury Festival a couple of years back. He was great.
"Decision Points," George W. Bush's first post-presidential book, hits stores on Nov. 9. On Page 47 of this week's issue,
is he releasing his autobiography in magazine installments?
Yeah, and they weren't a band for really long either. shorter than the Beatles, i think. their first album came out in '68 and their last in '72. somehow they packed like 7 albums into 5 years. I think they released 3 in one year. But yeah, great fucking band.

There is a song by Paul Oakenfold with Hunter S Thompson talking about Nixon. It's actually a cool song, i forget what it's called. I don't know much about 70s music, sorry. That's what i would jam.
