the underground scene

well the unfortunate thing for you is that I do not take pride in having knowledge in something as petty and insignificant as heavy metal or even music in general. It is a hobby and something I do in my free time. To me there are a heck of a lot more important things in life than what I listen too and my knowledge about them. If you want to devote your studies and life to metal knowledge, more power to you. However, I find it sad that you feel the need to equate my ignorance with my "lack" of knowledge of the categories or aptitude of certain bands. As I hinted at before, it is unimportant in the grand scheme of things. So go on, keep criticizing people about their lack of knowledge of the intricacies of metal. However, at the end of the day you are being nitpicky over something that insignificant and unimportant.

Now to get more specific: I never said anything about your knowledge of what grindcore is. I did say that I, personally, did not separate bands in to these ultra-specific categories. To me, it is unimportant. If you feel the need to do so then have fun. I commend you on your "ability to see because you simply possess more knowledge." I apologize for my "brutal tinge of ignorance." There is nothing more brutal than someone who doesn't know all that is metal. You are the one that began your comments with disdain for me. You called me an ignoramus because I had mentioned Limp Bizkit.

You're taking the term ignorance too personally. Look it up in the dictionary, it holds a lot less weight than you're making it seem. You speak about metal and apply labels to it. You've done it in this thread. If YOU are the one who starts labeling, then I see no wrong in correcting your incorrect statements. If it's not important, you wouldn't have bothered with it in the first place.

But it means one thing to you and another thing to someone else. Again, if you are the one who begins to speak on the matter, you can always count on someone else voicing a counter opinion. It probably means as much to me as it does you. I simply pointed out the fact that grindcore has been around a long time, and it has less to do with metal than people think sometimes. Believe it or not, some people would probably get offended over such things.

You claim this was a joke. However, I don't know if you caught this, but it just made you look foolish. To me, and to others. I wasn't the only person who commented on the statement, and your joke lacked any real humor or clarification as to lead one to believe that it was, in fact, a joke. You stuck your foot in your mouth. You made a statement that was absurdly stupid, and no one thought it was a joke except you, to this very day. In all serioiusness this time, that kind of attitude is straight up close minded and narrow. If you think that commercial gets so many sales beacuse it's GOOD, then you obviously have a skewed perception of quality in music.

Many are [in my opinion the best of artists are commercial], but I mean we all know what kind of shit is getting circulated on MTV and most radio stations right now. I said A LOT of music stays underground because it isn't good. NOT ALL, but A LOT. I like very little of the underground that I've been exposed to. A few hardcore bands, and that's about it.

I didn't commit myself to an absolute because 1) that's ignorant and 2) I knew you were going to come down here and try to jack off on my post. Sorry to rain on your parade.
