The last film you bought:
Day of the Dead is the third one. Night of the Living Dead is No. 1, followed by Dawn of the Dead. I think Day is the grossest of the three, although funny, too, like when the zombies are tearing that one guy's head off and his vocal chords get stretched and his scream gets progressively higher.
What movie genre do you prefer?

that's a tough question... i like serial killer t-shirt type movies like casino and the fight club and i like action movies done right like tarantino and rodriguez. and anything charlie kaufman does. that man is my clone.
EDIT: and i'm a sucker for documentaries.
Aw, geez. This is the second time I have to agree with you today. I love Charlie Kaufman's stuff, too, although I haven't seen that Human Nature/Behavior movie or whatever it's called, but I'm dying to see Eternal Sunshine. Are you his clone physically or mentally? I've never heard of a movie referred to as a "serial killer T-shirt type," either. Kinda cool.
Speaking of docs, I'm also waiting to see Capturing the Friedmans. Have you seen it?

i've heard of capturing the friedmans but i didn't know it's a documentary, so now i'll make more of an effort to rent it. and charlie in adaptation is me, brainwise. i have yet to write something because i want it to be 100% original and i hate that the rule is that your characters have to have some sort of conflict or undergo changes or become enlightened. why? you can make it interesting without doing all that.
Rent it, definitely. From what I've heard, it's a harrowing and heartbreaking movie. Um, if you're waiting to write something that's 100-percent original, you'll be waiting a long time. I'm not saying anything against your talent, just that almost everything is some variation of something else. But yeah, you don't have to follow those rules. So you don't write at all because you're waiting for that magic day? If so, I don't get that mentality.
Shows you how captivating Monica Bellucci was in that film. I mean, they must of said her name about fifty times and it's on the fucking cover, and still I didn't take it in! Just those hips and tits.
I like how near the end all the town chicks spit on her and debase her and cut her hair off and call her a slut. You just don't see that sort of thing these days... meanwhile all the town guys are like totally into her...

I like action movies too, but man... I don't see the hubbub about rodriguez. El Mariachi was cool. The hollywood Banderas version sucked. The once upon a time in Mexico was lame with some good parts from Depp. I fast-forwarded through the whole thing. Lessee.. rodriguez... I sorta liked that Clooney film with Cheech in it going "Get yer pussy! Hot pussy! Chicken pussy! Hairy pussy! Come to the titty twister!" but even that got old. And that Faculty movie was stupid. What's sogreat about rodriguez? If you want to like a trendy director because he's cool, pick someone like Antoine Fuqua. He's much cooler and does much better films...
Well, I've yet to watch it. But I bought it for the obvious bad 80s vibe, and to see Kief as a vampire. Went something like this:
Me: "Hey, lookit this. Some bad 80s vampire movie."
Best Friend: "...Is that who I think it is?"
Me: *blinks* "Yes. Buy."
I too used to think Kiefer was cool. Then he became Mr. Television. Way overexposed. He's a perfect example of the mainstreaming of something that was once good. Charlie Sheen is that way now too. And fucking Martin sheen. I never seen that presidential tv show, but I could never see him in a film again without that ruining it for me...

Actually, I have no cause to rag on you for procrastinating, since I'm quite an ace at that myself. I highly recommend you get yourself a little notebook, though, so you can jot down ideas when they come to you. Even write 'em down on a napkin or something, if you have to.

I'm gonna have to butt in and talk about my problem in this exact area. I wanna write. I have stuff to write, but no context or plot or story ideas. At all. Something needs to *happen*, and I haven't got any idea there.
I wanna do a twisted romance-revenge-unsure-how-I-feel-about-this-damn-woman thing...
But I still need a basic story.
It's killing me trying to think one up...
Also, I'm loving SnowWhite's signature stuff. I'm currently in love with the two 'Pulp's.

£20 each! I got the Three Colours trilogy for £8 each on DvD.
I bought Rocky III and The Story of O this weekend...

Both great films...
Rocky III to me, is the best of the series. It's got Mr. T being a loud-mouth bad-ass talkin' 'bout "pain" and "pitying the fool". It's got the whole geriatric tugging at the heartstrings Mick-dying thing. It's got Stallone outrunning Carl Weathers, who's black and I just don't see how Rocky outruns him. It's got Stallone beating the crap outta Mr. T after getting his ass handed tohim on a plate by the, again, afro-centric Clubber Lane. I dunno. I never saw all the wierd shit before. Rocky is white and has no soul, although he's supposed to be an "Italian Stallion" which makes him like part-negro if you count how the sicilians were fucked by the spaniards and the afro-conquistadors. It's all very strange but fun... not to mention Rocky losing his "hunger" and then getting back his "eye of the tiger"...
Story of O is cool because it's like soft-core porn that is artsy, like Penthouse's Caligula, and it has Udo Kier in it. I read the book years ago and the film is pretty true to it. It's a lot like Romeo and Juliet except with chains and whips and lots of doggie-style sex. The chick loves her man so she fucks other men because he wants her to, in essence, she's a complete slut and uses him as a reason to fuck other men. Then her man tires of her and decides he has the hots for her model lesbo-friend who doesn't like him, so he gives her to his brother, who brans her like cattle with his initials and gets her to fuck his friends and do wierd shit with his black maid. I dunno. I enjoyed it. It made me have wierd dreams last night...
http://www.lawlessscarab.com/graphics/custom/narrowSOring_01.jpg
This is the ring in the movie. It identifies the slutty chick to other people who know about the slut training she underwent in some forest castle. see, the beginning of story of o, she is taken to a castle where they "train" her to be a sadistic sex freak nympho. Really, they should do this to all women...

White is sort of a comedy, but it's cool in a wierd obsession sort-of-way. It's about this foreign dude, like polish or something and he marries this french chick, played by Julie Delpy, and he's absolutely obsessed with her, but for some reason, he can't make his dick hard to have sex with her, thus their marriage is null and void because they never consumate it. So... she leaves him, he meets some wierd dude... I'm trying not to give the shit away... he goes back to poland or wherever the hell, I forget, and he devises a scheme to win her back, or rather to get revenge against her AND to make him hers forever. Sure it has funny parts, but as a whole, it's really fucked-up and neurotic. Especially the ending. I'd classify it as dark humor I suppose... sort of like The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover... sort-of... in that the humor is not meant to be stupid, it just sort of comes and goes within the drama. There is actually a really cool scene near the beginning of white that had me 'feeling' the film, like it hit home, and that was when after she leaves her husband, he is drunk and sad and he calls her to hear her say "hello" since he never says anything, and she guesses it is him and she describes tohim how she is fucking a real man since he can't get it up and she proceeds to have an orgasm while he listens to her with this other man having sex, and it's infinitely sad... I almost cried even...
Blue for me was the best, because it is so depressing and Binoche fits the sadness well...
Red, was well... wierd, and to me the worst of the bunch. In fact, the only thing that ties the films together are some old lady who is having trouble recycling her glass bottle in all the films, and the end of red where the survivors of a boat crash are all the people from the three films... I mean, I guess it's all tied together because they are all about people and love and obsession and sadness and on and on, but really I took them as three very different films. I don't even think as a collection they are all that good. I would probably not even suggest red at all, and really only blue and maybe white if you are really bored...

I didn't forget the tits... I just though the best stuff was near the beginning where the fat lawyer chases her around her house before fucking her in her husband's absence. It was sweet that he came back for her in the end, but I dunno. Belucci has made better tit movies, rather movies with her tits showcased...

ROTK
I want to pick up Gladiator sometime soon.
THe last movie I bought was the 5 1/2 hour version of Das Boot. Awesome flick...non-hollywood war movie....
Tommy Crown Affair
I prefer Brosnan away from the Bond roles
he's always risking his ass for a country, a girl, someone else,
whereas in Thomas Crown Affair/Tailor of Panama, he risks his ass for himself
coupling, the bbc series. fucking hilarious.
Raimi's cut of Army of Darkness.
And since there seemed to be so much worship here of Boondock Saints and because I could never find it to rent, I just bought it and it's actually not bad. Willem Dafoe's performance is pretty much worth the price.
