I've just ordered American Splender and Cruel Intentions on DVD. I've never seen American Splender but I'd imagine that I would like it.

last week I bought American History X, Plesentvile, Operation Condor: Armour of God II and the Herzog/Kinski Boxset...

I'm addicted to films and, for the last few years I have aimed to buy at least one movie a week on average... anyone else equally mad about film?

Whats the last flick you bought on DVD/video? what film did you like enough to own for the rest of your life?

Bully by Larry clark. It was in the sale. I've recently give up on my DVD collection due to the fact my girlfriend and I are in serious talks about moving to another country. I feel sick at the thought of all that money gone down the drain though, only then to begin from scratch rebuilding my collection. But England sucks at the mo, so fuck it.

The last film that I almost bought was Amelie, but I realised that I couldn't really afford it. The last one that I actually bought I think was X2 for my mom at Christmas.

Damn.

The last DVD I bought was "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."

Because all I need in life is that movie, some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Last movie I bought: "Disturbed", starring Malcolm Mc Dowell. It's the kind of movie that considers 'turning the camera sideways' a special effect.

Next DVD I'm planning on buying is "Death to Smoochie".

I almost bought that Tenacious D 5 mins ago. Is it good? Is it worth the 16$ price tag?

I bought "The Elegant Universe" Nova DvD from PBS and I think that was the last dvd. But the last films bought were Boyz n The Hood and The Last Temptation of Christ.

I liked 'The Believer' but for some reason I feel that people who really love these Rascist-themed films miss the point. I remember hearing wannabe nazi's loving on American History X and totally missing the point of the film.

[QUOTE=mugwump]Just bought Pink Floyd: Live From Pompei Director's cut on DVD.

Dude, I love me some Pink Floyd. I especially like The Wall DVD. It's real neat when I'm on acid. I can even stand it when I'm not on drugs. Also Dark Side of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz is cool, but I've seen that Pompeii disc and it fucking sucks. I'm not trying to pee on your head and tell you it's raining here, I'm just curious why you like it. What's so great about it? It's a bunch of their weaker songs and the footage is awful. I mean, it is Pink Floyd and all, but they have much better Pink Floyd releases out there, much better live stuff even. Pompeii is like the worst you can get, like one of those bootleg Hendrix at Berkely videos that the Hendrix clan keeps selling to milk the dead cash cow that was Jimi...

I'm a wannabe nazi, but I think I got the gist of the film. I think the film said basically that being a skinhead is cool and stuff and that they get to break shit and have rough sex and cool tattoos and drink beer and mosh to punk rawk and be, like, totally awesome. Romper Stomper was the same way, and American History X too...

Yeah, I liiked Bully too. It reminded me of that 80's flick River's Edge, except with more cool teenage gratuitous sex with actors who are older than they appear... Nick Stahl is so hot...

[QUOTE=Ghost Mutt]I didn't like Magnolia, I thought it was boring...

Sorry you didn't like Magnolia-I enjoyed it.

It's hard to explain Naked Lunch, I recommend that you read the book first.

"Amazon.com essential video
You are now entering Interzone, William S. Burroughs's phantasmagorical land of junk, paranoia, and crawly things. Best travel advice: "Exterminate all rational thought." In David Cronenberg's superbly shot, unnerving warp on the Burroughs novel, the novelist himself becomes a main character (played in an implacable monotone by Peter Weller), with elements from Burroughs' life--including the shooting of his wife during a "William Tell" game, and bohemian friends Kerouac and Ginsberg--added to frame the book's wild visions. This is, ironically, a somewhat rational approach to an unfilmable book (and it makes a hair-curling double bill with Barton Fink, another look at writerly madness, with both films sharing Judy Davis). Cronenberg is a natural for oozing mugwumps and typewriters that turn into giant bugs, of course. But in the end, this is really his own vision of the artistic process, rather than Burroughs's hallucinatory descent into hell."

I like Pompeii becuase its the culmination of their early work, along with footage of them working on Dark side.

The Converge DVD, I dunno, got it too, 'cause I love converge, but it's basicly alot of bad ancient material and the camera is just shaking all over the place, interesting for the hardcore converge fans, but otherwise not all that exciting to watch I think. But like it says in the beginning of the DVD, VERY PUNK RAWK.

And it's got sweet packaging, very nice artwork.

I guess you can lead a happy life without seeing titanic, but I really enjoyed Donnie Darko, but not because its cool and trendy to like it now but because its great. Its full of humour and hijinx...

I do recomend seeing it, even though you might be disapointed, its worth the risk.
