The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
There has probably been a discussion on this film before but I just wanted to give my two cents and ask for other opinions.
Just as a side note. I have not read beyond the first book in the trilogy and have yet to see the Swedish version.
I was blown away. Not since No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood have I not been able to take my eyes off of the screen for a second. Lisbeth was captured perfectly by Rooney Mara and the tone seemed perfect to me. One of my favorite Fincher movies by far!
I like Crepes.
I haven't seen it yet, but I did like the Swedish version and thought it would be hard to recreate the mood/depth that they did the first time around. I've been looking forward to this coming out. Plus I want this soundtrack badly.

I think Confused wants to do the other two movies but it depends on how financially successful this one is considering it cost 100 million to produce.
Btw the soundtrack is amazing!
I like Crepes.
Lol *Fincher....autocorrect sucks.

Yup I've heard Trent Reznor did the soundtrack, and it sounds like it has some of his latest project with his wife on it.

I didn't know he was doing a project with his wife...interesting. Any idea how she influences his material or adds to it?
I like Crepes.
I've heard a couple songs, it's not bad. It's like a lot of Reznor's music just w/his wife singing. I believe the group is called "How to destroy Angels."

I Downloaded it a couple of days ago from the website and so far it's pretty amazing. His wife adds a nice touch...I had no idea that was her though lol.
I like Crepes.
I don't get why they had to remake them. The Swedish ones were great.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ah.
Of course.
*rolls eyes*
Silly me.
So I was pretty annoyed that they did a remake, but I watched the trailer and it kind of intrigued me actually. I might end up watching it, but I won't go see it at the movies.
In my opinion, the cinema is the best way to experience this kind of film. It's hard to explain but this movie was made for the big screen. The opening credits are especially amazing.
I like Crepes.
I agree about the credits. Fincher is second maybe only to Gaspar Noe in that category.
Did anyone else think that this movie had the perfect use of Enya?
I like Crepes.
Just saw it! I liked it and some of the twists Fincher did w/the story was really good. Can't decide which version I like better..

Haven't read the books, nor have I seen the Swedish movies. I just saw this remake, and I found it enjoyable and interesting, but... I just don't get the hype over this story. Is it just the interesting titular character? I guess it's the same thing that attracted people to the Hannibal movies, which were equally enjoyable and intriguing, but I don't have a single one of them in my 250 movie collection.
In my opinion, this was a nice but unnecessary film, is what I'm saying.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
I know what you're saying. Silence of the Lambs I can almost do the whole movie line for line. I've seen the other Hannibal Lector movies, but can't remember a thing about them. Just zeros in my brain.
This is why we can't have nice things.
The Millennium trilogy seems to have a really simple storyline to begin with. I was never intrigued to read beyond the first one. It may sound weird but I was more captivated by Fincher's Lisbeth than anything else.
I like Crepes.
Just saw it and I really like that James Bond-ish opening title sequence.

I've heard a lot of good things so far, also heard Rooney steals the show. Is there any talk of Fincher doing the second or third book?
