The Brilliance of Nicolas Cage
he was and it did. because it stunk. But I blame that more on joel schumaker. mainly because that guy doesn't get nearly enough shit dumped on him as he deserves.
I don't dislike Cage, but he does deserve to be typecast. I liked 8mm, but I saw it around the same time as Atomos. That was around the time I discovered Faces of Death.

Leave Schumacher alone. The guy made Lost Boys and Flatliners!
One of those movies is more then enough to make up for two shitty Batman flicks.

the only reason I don't wish joel schumaker had never been born is because he made DC Cab.
As it is, I just wish someone had assassinated him in 1992 or something.
+ 1. Raising Arizona is so wonderful
"For most of this century, scientists have worshiped the hardware of the brain and the software of the mind; the messy powers of the heart were left to the poets."
As it is, I just wish someone had assassinated him in 1992 or something.
I liked Falling Down (with Michael Douglas) a lot.

Vampire's Kiss, Moonstruck, Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Adaptation, Face/Off, Matchstick Men, and recently Bad Lieutenant: New Orleans. I don't care how classic the original was, Nic Cage was cracked out and batshit crazy in the new one and it was fucking awesome.
He has made some damn good films.

He has made some damn good films.
Sure he's been in some damn good films but I'm sure he didn't make them.
I had to be a smartass

Has no one seen Adaptation? He was nominated for an Oscar, you know.

I saw it. it was okay but I was underwhelmed overall.
now you wanna talk about good ones he's done, howzabout that Amos & Andrew!

No idea why I said made

I liked him in The Weatherman and Adaptation. He was so good in the latter that I actually forgot he was in it. Rather than getting a giant image of Nick Cage when I think of the movie, like I do when I think of all his other movies, I actually think of orchids.

well, of all the good films he has been in, a lot of what made them good was him. So, in a sense, he made them good! voila'!

I still am not convinced that Nic Cage could make a film good. I can accept that he is perfect for specific roles I just can't get pass the horrors of the past few years that is Nic Cage. Pretty much every time I see a new trailer with him cast I want to Bangkok and not in a good sense.
Con Air. Classic.
I think he's been in a ton of great movies. Maybe he isn't the best actor in the world, but he sure has been a part of some fine things. Adaptation, Matchstick Men, Lord of War, Weather Man, Raising Arizona, The Rock, Kick Ass. Come on.
I know I've seen it. I know Nic Cage is in it. But I honestly don't remember a thing about Snake Eyes. I think it takes place in Vegas.
I like that movie. I just finally saw it all the way through recently.
ha i love how they link you to the worst actor of his generation article Wow!
oh God. not a Ghost Rider 2....
and is the video in the worst actor of his generation piece gone or is it just not showing up for me for some reason?
yeah i don't know it didn't show up for me either. it must really be bad haha.
Yeah, but this one is being done by the guys who did the Crank films, so there's a chance it could be good.

Cage isn't going to be in it then?
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

That's good for if you want your film to look pretty good and have some kick-ass fight and action scenes. Which is what the Crank films were. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED both Crank films, but story is not the centerpiece for them.
Ghost Rider should have some kind of storytelling in it. I don't know why, when they made the first film, they didn't just use the story from the GR relaunch back in 92. That had a great story that gave you a cool origin and some real motivation behind all the characters and a well-defined purpose for the Ghost Rider PLUS it had all the kick-ass fight and action scenes you could want.
Even though he's kinda old now, I could still buy Nic Cage as Dan Ketch. Oh well.
Nicholas Cage: Man of a Million Hairstyles

Nicolas Cage sucks.
If I can't be beautiful, I want to be invisible
You, madame, are in the entirely wrong thread.
I watched the end of Astro Boy today. It was hard to enjoy since I could only picture Cage's retard face while the CGI character was speaking. Also Nathan Lane was hard to miss...it was rather annoying.

Nicolas Cage is kind of the same person in every single film. Except for Raising Arizona - which I must admit is very good.
But um, it also bothers me that his name is missing an 'H' I feel like it should be 'Nicholas' and not 'Nicolas'.
Did I all ready pop in here and mention how much I hate Nicholas Cage? Cause I really really do.

I'm not cranky, I'm just feeling extra sardonic tonight.

I was watching the Rifftrax version of The Wicker Man last night and started wondering, "Do you think when the director and producers finish making a film like that and are starting to edit it together, that they get that pit in the stomach feeling of 'Oh Shit this is terrible, what have we done? How are we gonna polish this turd up enough with a trailer so that we can make at least a couple bucks off it?' or do you think when they're watching it come together they're so completely deluded and think it's a masterpiece of film-making just because they're the ones who made it?
As for Adaptation, it's been noted (on IMDB and other places) that Cage went against his better judgement and let Jonze direct him fully, only doing hwat he was told, not doing what he wanted. In other words, NEVER LET THIS MAN IMPROVISE EVER.
FUBU and KFC have anounced their move to combine forces and fullyn focus on targeting more 'ethnic' audiences. In other news, McDonalds, Starbucks and Wal-Mart have combined to become The United Corporate of America. Moving on...

I reject the notion that Valley Girl falls on the Rubbish side of the chart.

I'd save Windtalkers and Kiss of Death from the rubbish zone and also put Face/Off higher.

I'd move 8mm up.
That chart illustrates exactly why I don't know what to think of Nic.

Wild at heart and Raising Arizona were his best.

The brilliance is that Dog the Bounty Hunter bailed him out of jail.
I can't wait for the episode where they go after him.
This is one of my all time favorites...
holy hell, i'd forgotten about this. the scene where the thrashes the ambulance deserves some kind of reward/award
