When I'm not at work or sleeping, or singing Cher songs at karaoke night, I'm watching this movie over and over and over...

go was good but i didnt think it went deep enough into the real ecstasy scene, neither did groove for that matter but i think groove was the better movie

i agree, how stella got her groove back was good. of course there wasnt nearly enough emphasis on stella's groove, instead of only foucssing on how she got it back.

i liked Go thought it was awesome, not much of a drug movie per say, more of a people on drugs movie

getting back on the subject:

I really liked SPUN despite the fact that I can't think of too many people that actually liked it. I thought it was great though I have a tendency to think excrament smeared on celluloid (Plan 9, Astro-Zombies) is great as well so I don't know. The Editing I thought got a little bit annoying after awhile.

i was disappointed in spun because i thought it was going to be a serious movie and not so much a dark comedy. some of it was pretty good, but the cinematography was a little too ripped off of Aronofsky for my taste. (extreme close-ups of pupils, them laying on the floor with their heads together when they're coming down). I did gain a bit of respect for brittany murphy though.

i loved Requiem for a Dream, but didnt think this movie ripped it off in any way shape or form. there were lotsa cuts but that was to help the viewer sorta see the process of the drug and their mind

i have to agree with knoxville on that one, the movie is supposed to make you feel strung-out and geeked up, which i think it does quite well , but all in all in wasn't that great a movie

but also, it did have the russian guy from armageddon, so that gives it a couple points and knocks it up the ladder a few steps

that dude isn't Russian, he's Swedish.
his name is Peter Stormare; he was in Fargo too.

yeah, i got confused too; i didn't know which dude was the russian guy in Armegeddon, because that movie sucked and the only reason i watched the whole thing was because it was in the theater.

i did all i could to repress the memories of it, and i guess i succeeded, cause i couldn't remember who "the russian dude" was. i like that guy, though, he should do more movies. he's a stage actor, though, mostly, broadway and such i guess....

i haven't been either.
i know all this because i just watched the "special edition" Fargo DVD, and it talked about him in there.
i have no desire to go see Broadway........

Spun was pretty good, though like every other drug movie (Traffic and Requiem for a Dream, namely), it sells out to the "drugs are bad, mmkay?" philosophy. It'd be one thing if the message was, "this is how bad it can get," but it's usually more along the lines of "this is how bad it is." All part of the War on Some Drugs, and as enjoyable as it is, it sells itself short as masturbation for the sanctimonious. My take, anyway.
