Sound of Musical Numbers
What are your favorite musical number scenes on tv or movies?
One of my all time favorites, I guess it's not really a legit musical number but close enough.

I love the rape scene in Clockwork Orange where Alex sings Singin' in the Rain.
It's not the greatest scene but I love the song
Yes. It's one of the most horrid scenes ever but I love it. He's singing this joyful musical number while beating the owner to a pulp and raping the wife. It's just a great scene in a fucked up way.
Adelvice from Sound of Music is wifey's favorite.

don't get me started in here. I could go on and on and on. one of my favorites is:
haha, it's sort of a joke, but I still love it. they are really brilliant. I'll come populate this thread later. You'll be sick of me! as if you aren't already

Haha that's totally Awesome!
And who do you think I made this thread for Levi?
oh brent. It's edelweiss. Think german!
thanks jaz. But the last thing the cult needs is just another thread where one or two people can just populate it with things only they care about. see lady gaga thread, or anything else i've ever made!
I hope this takes off, but based on my experience, not many care about musicals here.

well that's why I incorporated tv. There are plenty of shows people watch nowadays that have musical numbers. It could even be an Andy Samberg skit from SNL or one of those Family Guy musical numbers. I know there's more culties out there that like musical numbers, don't give up on me LEVI!!!
On that note here is the musical number I would always sing when thinking of you Levi! Don't ask why
I just love this.
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
I want to watch Wicked soo bad!
Edit: Aww you changed the video Mckay! Can you repost it? In a new post if you'd like.
Les Miserables is a good one too.
I didn't like that video of it, been searching for another. In the mean time:

Did you ever do musical numbers while you were acting?
Here, this one's better Jaz. Man, Idina is sure a theatre actress, check out her eyes!
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
Oh God, I hate doing musical numbers. Granted I just did crappy local musical theatre for school age kids when I lived in Florida, but it was so fucking nerve wracking!
PRESSURE TO PERFORM!!!
I did two. I was Harry the Horse in Guys and Dolls and Igor in Frankenstein. Neither production was terribly good.
Should see me play Shakespeare though.

love this cover. the old man is fucking badass. great voice. and obviously th kid has a gret voice too.
and these two from Across the Universe:
actually, just everything from that movie. except bono singing one of my favourite songs. bastard. the lead guy in this film reminded me of Ewan McGregor's voice in Moulin Rouge. suprisingly incredible in a subtle, natural kind of way. i love how his voice rack a bit in the beginning of 'all you need is love'. speaking of which:
and this was kickass:
and one more from recently that i loved because of it's suprise factor. and it's just kind of dorky and cool. i could imagine Levi doing this after graduating his art hstory degree or something:
Ahaha.
Elephant Love Medley, Moulin Rouge:
El Tango De Roxanne, Moulin Rouge (Amazing song, ack <3):
EDIT_
I took too long with my post.
Those are all great Matty. What was the first video from? That last one had me smiling and I can totally picture Levi working the shit out of that number.haha
I just can't wait to be king!

You know you love it.

El Tango De Roxanne, Moulin Rouge (Amazing song, ack <3):
Shit, I forgot this one. Seriously it's like the best musical number ever. The whole thing gives me chills and is completely sexy.
shit, Imke, i can't believe we picked the two same videos from Moulin Rouge. ha. good taste much?
and, the first one is from I'm Not There, the Bob Dylan Biopic.
this is one of my all time favourite songs. i fucking love the shit out of this movie:
i've always wanted to do like a slower, down 'n' dirty jazzy blues cover of this song.

I love Jungle Book. I would imitate a lot of Mogli's gestures and especially when he walks with the elephants.
I would love to hear a down and dirty version of this song. It's Jazzy and swingin' as it is but a bluesier version would probably sound awesome.
see, now i'm gonna have to work this shit out and post it in the Oh Hi thread. only thing is, my voice sounds a lot better when i imagine it in my head. so, the final product may not be smashing.
I'd love to do the vocals for that. I need a damn webcam or new camera so I can start posting vids.
you should do it either way Matt. you better pm of the debut! haha
Beauty and the Beast. Yes, in Dutch. We had mostly Dutch versions of the Disney movies and I absolutely adore them. (I really can't get into the American versions once I've seen the Dutch ones)
The Little Mermaid.
I like the Beauty and the Beast one it's almost sounds the same.
The Little Mermaid version makes me sad because Sebastian should sound Jamaican
Still pretty cool and of course a couple of my favorites.
I'm not sure what accent our Sebastian has, but I love his voice, I think it's beautiful.
Yeah, Sebastian is supposed to have like a silly Jamaican accent so it sets a different vibe for the character and the way that song is sung in English. I would think it's more comical in English.
Let's not forget about this one too.
Man, I've seen that movie 9 times.
No way to forget, it's been posted 3 times now.
hahaha. everyone loves the some El Tango De Roxanne, and nobody seems to read the thread first.
Jesus, I should of called it the Moulin Rouge Thread! haha I do like that movie though for the music they used. Which brings me to another Baz Luhrmann film:
Romeo+Juliet I love the soundtrack but this is one of my favorite songs on the film

I had another one but my mind went blank...
I remembered! Talented Mr. Ripley
I love this song.

Makes me sad.
You all have good ones. Moulin Rouge breaks my heart. I love That Thing You Do. I will post more when I have like, three hours to get them all in here.

One of the best villian songs ever.
Aside from Les Mis (which I LOVE) I don't like musicals that take themselves too seriously.
That's why THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is the best!
The characters/cast, music, lyrics are all excellent. Okay, the story takes a bit of a dip at the end, but it's really just such an all-rounder.

I can't choose my favourite song, that's far too difficult, but just close your eyes and listen (because I couldn't find the clip...)
All of Chicago. I can't believe it was only mentioned once! (Thank you, Mike!)
And Singin' in the Rain, of course. I love every scene in this movie.
And Singin' in the Rain, of course. I love every scene in this movie.
Me too. I came in here to post Make 'Em Laugh.
This is just incredibly acted, sung and shot (and incredibly funny):
Even though Fred Astaire was a little too old to be playing opposite Audrey Hepburn by this point, there are still some lovely moments in Funny Face:
and Kay Thompson's turn as the Diana Vreeland-esque fashion magazine editor is one of my favourite numbers too:
and there's always:
The Music Man Can Not be topped for both quality and quantity!
I don't mean to get stuck on Audrey Hepburn movies but Jaz I love you for posting On the Street Where You Live! Always been one of my favourites.
there are some other great songs from My Fair Lady too.. I Could Have Danced All Night, Wouldn't it be Lovely, etc. I saw a stage production a couple of years ago with Richard E Grant as Professor Higgins. Magical.
one of my favourite Disney moments, and Disney movies:
That's why THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is the best!
did you know tht Mick Jagger auditioned for Tim Curry's role?
i think that he would have been incredible as the dr frank n furter, but his acting is a bit to be desired, so probably made the best choice at the end of the day. he just would have been perfect strutting around in fishnets and lipstick.

Don't apologize! I love those scenes too! Funny Face is my favorite movie of hers, and My Fair Lady has far better musical numbers than the one I posted. I especially enjoy Just You Wait Henry Higgins! haha It's great.
I really want to see a stage production soon of well most any stage production. I missed out on the Lion King because I chose to go on vacation with my friends instead. I kind of regret it. I really want to see Wicked though. I've heard nothing but great things, not to mention my big black metal head friend went to go see it and loved it so that says a lot.
Post more in here Bec!

That would have been amazing Matty, but you have to love Tim Curry.

Wow. i love that scene too. that's when they break into the guy's house right? love that movie.
