Snatch.
Great movie, eh? I thought it deserved a thread. Just because it's that fucking great.
Mother Superior: "Would sir care for a starter? Some garlic bread perhaps?"
Renton: "No, thank you. I'll proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please."
There's just never enough room for all the quotes that seem necessary.
Glad we covered that.
Me too!
yup.

"It was at a funny angle!"
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.
yeah six feet under is awesome.
but i liked lock stock and two smoking barrels better than snatch.
half the time in snatch , i couldnt hear what they were saying.
Can anyone explain why they like this movie so much? All I ever hear is endless gushing over it; can anyone back it up with a reason other than "it's cool" or "it's fuckin' awesome?"
andy
I just think it's funny and stylish. Sure, there may not be much depth to it, but ah well. It's a fun movie. Good music, too.
well said disx.
The dialogue makes the difference.
Some 35 years ago the French equivalent of "Lock, Stock..." and "Snatch" were made, and they still are cult movies ("Les Tontons Flingueurs" and " Les Barbouzes"). Why ? Because of the dialogue. While usually gangster films are full of F words repeated over and over again, these 2 films introduced lots of expressions full of imagination and evocating power. The guys don't just insult each other : they do it with art.

I liked Snatch better when it was called Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels.
"Excuse me sir, Did you wash your hands after you took that big heaping dump. You know that sign, that sign says ALL employees MUST wash their hands after using the restroom, What part of that do you not understand?"- Malcom X
"Would you care to lick my sweaty baulz after they have been dipped in the finest venerial juices and sauteed in my own ass-sweat, madam?"- Winston Churchill

Crap. They might be stylistically and thematically similiar, and well the story is kinda similar as well in some ways I suppose... erm.. but its totally different. bugger.
anyway, Snatch was supposed to be seen as a sequel in some ways.
Its dead funny and looks great too with some lovely little visual ideas, and the story wraps up brilliantly, just like lock stock, I love how both films tie things up so well.
Oops, my bad

Brick Top is worse than Hannibal Lecter.

nahh, he doesnt eat people, i reckon he's a wussy boy having the pigs doing all the dirty jobs, although I expect he gets through too many bodies to have them all served up for supper each nite.
originaly he was going to be a pedophile, but then someone had the idea that in many cases even more hated than pedophiles are people who are cruel to animals, Ritchie said it sort of backfired.
