SLC punk
I am not Big into the whole Punk thing but this movie is one of my fav's. Its about to punk kids in Slat Lake City in 1985 and the main Character (Steveo) just graduated from college and rebals not to be in the system. There is so many twist in this movie and through out the who movie Steveo explains what it really means to be a punk. They fight rednecks and party through out the whole Movie. I recommend this one to anyone who hasnt seen it.
when all was said and done i am just another, goddamn, trendy ass POSER.
so being punk means you fight rednecks and party? whoa, was i off...
i hate SLC punk.
but they have lots of vespas in it...which i enjoy.
This film didn't come out in the UK. It fucks me off.
I liked it, but certain time dilation effects made it seem over 4 hours long and twice as funny the first time I watched it. Still got a kick out of it on successive viewings, tho.
It's actually a highly underrated film. And I love how if a punk goes into the movie expecting to see a movie glorifying punks, by the end, they'll be shown the truth about punks.
That punks are just hyprocrites. Watch the movie, you'll understand.
Yeah, it's a fun movie.
Small_fire, I was just suming up what some scenes in the movie were. Sorry if you missunderstood that part. Bane thats funny you wouldnt see this movie just cause Matthew Lillard play a couple bad ones. This movie actusually shows that he is a good actor he played his part right in SLC punk.

My God, that is the coolest phrase ever.
Matthew Lillard was the only good part about Scream, man.
I rented SLC Punk last night, consequently. I gotta watch it still.

I liked it. It was cool, and hip! Just kidding. Umm... I really did like it, but I was 9 when I saw it, so maybe it just seemed cool. Like Care Bears.

this movie rocks
We're the culture that cried wolf.
Lillard was pretty good in The Curve (after it was on showtime in the hotel for about the 4th time, I finally watched it and it wasn't too bad).
so XChuck what you like 12 now?
Na i really dont care but I dont think you really can say SLC punk and CareBears in the same sentenec.
I am pretty sure this movie wont fade out like the CareBears.

2 things
1. I love SLC punk, it is a great movie about life, and I love that it is about the fact that everyone must rebel, but everyone also must give up.
2. Carebears haven't faded out tida, ask anyone.

I'm 13. And I didn't say SLC Punk and Care Bears in the same sentence. But I was saying, was that when I was little Care Bears were cool, and I also saw SLC Punk around the same time, so all I'm saying is that I might not like it now, but I did at the time.
you useta watch carebears and movies like slc punk at the same time?
LOL. Yeah... as I have said before, I have very odd parents.
...gasp!
Thirteen!
Do you even have pubes, yet, Mikey?!

Amazingly, yes I do. I entered puberty at nine. Anywho, SLC Punk is a pretty cool movie!
I didnt even Think Carbears was your time XChuck. You had to be like 3 when they started fading out and yes i do think they faded out but they are just trying to bring then out again.

I don't know about them fading out, but my parents had a bunch of old Care Bears tapes around the house, so I watched them.
O aiight that summed it up thanx.

So, SLC punk. I'm in the process of downloading it right now, but is this about punks or straight-edge punks, cause there can be a world of difference? Is it supposed to be something like the birth of the straight edge movement, or just about some kids and their troubles as punks?
Well, Heroin Bob is pretty straight-edge (he's a chemistry major and he's way anti-drugs cos of it), but they all drink I guess. So not really sXe... They're 80s punks and they're pretty cool and it's funny and Steveo does acid so he's not sXe at all I guess... Hmmm, more?
I watched it this weekend and, to tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed.
It was cool and all, but...
Before my time, maybe.

XChuck very hard to believe you hit puberty at 9...
This movie basicaly shows the beging of the punk movement so they arent really straight-edge.

I don't want to turn this into a pube debate, but it's not incredibly uncommon for kids to hit puberty at such an early age. I've seen it happen. Well, not in the creepy sort of way, but I just remember growing up with kids who were behemoths and had voices that squeaked in fourth grade. Seriously. Stop looking at me like that. I swear, I was in grade school with 'em. No, I'm serious. I am in no way a pedophile. Honest.
i just finished watchign this movie and i cant really stand it, the end was awesomely done but i really hate the whole "lets fuck the government and make all things go crazy" views on the world, just live life and dont worry so much
Well ya i feel the same way about just living your life and not worrying about stupid shit. But you do realize it was a great movie?

and that's just good policy, ladies and gents.
but i'm with SF...i haaa-aaaated this movie when it came out. sorry tida. oh, and it *did* fade out like care bears, except it never had its proverbial 15 minutes.
no i was really REALLY let down by it, it was good but a lot of the characters i oculdnt stand and thought were annoying
moe.ron Its cool I understand not everyone would like this movie. Thank you for stating that carebears did fade out...

When i first saw the movie when it came out, i was like 17 with a mohawk that i'd had for a couple of years, needless to say i devoted my life to punk rock, and the ending pissed me off because it seemed to label punk rock as some pesky movement that was just some offshoot of being young. But now that i am 20 I am starting to realize that maybe the ending is a more accurate depiction of the punk movement than i previously thought. Or maybe i am just saying that cuz i was obviously one of the oldest people at the last show i went to.

Now, Tida, I have nothing against you, and you seem quite pleasant, but I have to protest. I just want to say that just because one, or two, or even three, people agree with you, doesn't mean your right. And maybe where you live Care Bears has faded out, but for most people, it's still around and at large.
Ok, I just watched it recently, and I have to add my name to the list of somewhat disappointed people. I mean, some things were done really well. I really liked the whole personal experience of it, the way Steve-o was talking to me, introducing me to his crowd, showing me the ropes. I can't quite think of what I didn't like right now as, for some stupid reason, my memory sometimes fails when I've been up for nearly 24 hours. Anyway, if I can remember the things I thought could've been done better and I think they're important enough to post, I'll do so. But later.

LOL. XChuck, I mean for me Carebears has faded out. I am 19 and the last time I remember their being a new carebears series was when I was about 7. Just because they have started selling Carebears in HotTOPIC(cause you know Carebears were goth back in the day...) doesnt mean they came back and I have yet to see Carebears on DVD, personaly I dont even care about the whole thing. I just find it really funny it went this far and I will not go on about this any longer just cause it is dumb.

I would like to suggest that Tida renames this thread " Tida Tends Her Garden"
