Rentals
Talk about whatever movies you've rented recently or plan on renting or think others should rent. Right now I'm heading out to get La Regle du Jeu (Renoir), Lost Highway (Lynch) and Vertigo (Hitchcock).
Discuss.
I'm so sad this thread isn't about my main man Rents
.
Last movies I rented were I think Nurse Betty and Your Friends & Neighbors and that was in May. I need to go to hollywood video when my friend is working and try to get some free rentals out of him---- 2.50 is a bit much to rent a movie for me.
"Excuse me sir, Did you wash your hands after you took that big heaping dump. You know that sign, that sign says ALL employees MUST wash their hands after using the restroom, What part of that do you not understand?"- Malcom X
"Would you care to lick my sweaty baulz after they have been dipped in the finest venerial juices and sauteed in my own ass-sweat, madam?"- Winston Churchill
I need to rent Resevoir Dogs. It's sad, I've never seen it.
A while ago, I went through this phase where each week I would rent a different MArx Brothers film. A Night at the Opera was my favourite, I think. Either that or Duck Soup.
Mother Superior: "Would sir care for a starter? Some garlic bread perhaps?"
Renton: "No, thank you. I'll proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please."
There's just never enough room for all the quotes that seem necessary.
At my local Blockbuster, they only have Lost Highway on VHS. Great movie, and not even on DVD yet. Fuck that. VHS sucks. Lynch needs to release it on DVD. I know I'd buy it.
And you must agree with me, as it's my birthday.
skip renting it, just buy the mofo, it's a good movie.
Lost Highway was out so I got Straw Dogs instead, now I understand all the fuss about Sam Peckinpah.
Everyone-FUCKING EVERYONE- should rent Fando y Lis (Jodorowsky). And I want to rent Irreversible, and, if it's out yet, I want to rent Spider.

Am I really missing out? People keep telling me about it... I didn't think it wouldbe THAT good...

Fando Y Lis sucks, I love Jodo but hate that movie, it seems to just go on and on and never really goes anywhere. Santa Sangre on the other hand is a BEE-YOOT-EEE-FULL flick.
I want to see Irreversible but I was a little bit dissapointed over the fact that it never got in to any theaters around here.

Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death
Bill Maher, Shannon Tweed, Adrienne Barbeau
And it's waayyyyy worse than it sounds.
There are no mistakes.

Really? Hmm... I loved Fando y Lis immensly. Oh well.
Here's an amazing mishmash of what I've watched in the last few days.
Fitzcarraldo
La Dolce Vita
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Bad Taste
My Dinner with Andre

Irreversible is overrated. Parts of it are well done, but it's mostly just film student pap. Rent Spider instead.
Things that have come out in the last few months that I enjoyed: Punch-Drunk Love, Adaptation, Solaris, Spider, The Good Thief, Bloody Sunday.
An amazing movie called Russian Ark will be released in September. It's 3 centuries of Russian history told in a one single, fluid take. The longest take in the history of movies.

Solaris was an amazingly underrated and underappreciated film with an amazing score. Very good cinematography, excellent film.
We're talking about the remake right? I haven't seen it or the original but I did see Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev which was amazing if not quite the ordeal to sit through for the first half hour.

Its been on DVD for at least the last couple of years.
I think its about time Lynch bit the bullet and did a commentary. The cryptic bastard.
Latest Movies Rented
- Analyse that
- Vampire Hunters
- Bully
(I watch alot of shit)
A solid rental is Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai.
Not everyone likes it, though... it's kind of bad in some ways, but I really like it.
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.
Ghost Dog is awesome. Might I suggest some other films in the Jim Jarmusch catalog: Down by Law, Stranger Than Paradise, Dead Man, and Mystery Train.

Night on Earth is cute too.
I rented All the Real Girls and The Kid Stays in the Picture this weekend. The Kid's an all right documentary, but I highly recommend catching All the Real Girls if you can, it's really a fantastic movie, with a great soundtrack as well.

Why rent when you have the internet?
when all was said and done i am just another, goddamn, trendy ass POSER.
