I just saw the movie last night. For those who have seen it: What did you think?
I guess I didn't look into it enough before I went to see it, but I was expecting more of the fantasy aspect. There really wasn't all that much in the fantasy world. That being said, I thought it was an amazing film. The visual aspect was eerily beautiful. The story was dark but excellent. And I liked the fact that the fairy tale was more Grimms' Brothers and less Disney.
Highly recommended, and for those who haven't seen it, it does have subtitles. My friend was unaware and annoyed.

Yeah, I saw it.
I figured the theme was something along the lines that once you grow up, you lose the creative, fantasy part of your mind.
I also checked the IMDB message boards and another possible symbol was that the girl (the name escapes me, I saw it awhile ago) was a Jesus figure.
