Nothings resolved
So I was thinking recently, when a story goes and someone is looking for greater meaning and a purpose in life and he seems to change and learn a lesson, but in the end ends up square one with no real knowledge he can apply again, with not much more than killing time before he dies and a cautionary take that noone who haenst been through this already will ever listen to, I've been getting more into to recently into that, anyway, just a thought, anyone else into story's like those?
I sorta get what he's saying, but still...
Si vis pacem, para bellum
Sooooooo high.
Also, Kafka?
Stories like the book/movie Candy? (by Luke Davies I think)
Is that what you're talking about?
Nothing's resolved*
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."

A Clockwork Orange? Oh who cares. Your grammar spells like shit.
This is Pepper's son Gabriel, and I think you guys are just swell! Keep up the good work!
Sup Gabriel!

Haha. Yay for Gabriel!
YES. They love me.
Yeah. Dammit. That is what I get for leaving this open.
Officially in bed now. At least he had decent grammar when he decided to say hi to you all.
Hahaha Gabriel is awesome.
He probably would have gotten away with it for longer but he felt the need to come tell me "Your Cult friends love me more than they love you!".
Just attach a troll face to his statements and there you go.
I am actually relived to see this topic is as far as he got before he was overwhelmed with glee over his prank enough to come let me in on it.
Tell Gabriel that its not true. We love you more

I was on my phone and saw that. Almost told him to go to bed. But then I thought, what if he says it back? Will I have to? I don't want to.
He's funny though. How old is he?
He just turned 15 on the 8th.
He has a couple of buddies over for the evening so he is feeling clever.
You should have told him to go to bed!!!!!
You all have my permission to tell Gabriel to go to bed.
Ha!

I would cult when I was pretty much his age though! It would make me such a hypocrite. I will next time but with no real authority or enthusiasm.
But there is a big difference between you culting and my kid culting. He has read a couple of Chucks books, but if he started posting here I would have to behave all professional and motherly here... *whines* and this is my place!!!! So he needs to go to bed.
Go to bed Gabriel! Cuz I said sooo! And because your mom told me I could say so!
How was that?
A nice mother/son activity. Going culting together.
Movie, no resolution.
Book, resolution.
Rent After Hours (1985) or Brazil (uh, also 1985). Both funny in that nightmarish stressful way that makes one truly appreciate those quieter moments in The Great Milenko.
Come to think of it, 1985 was a shitty year where everything ran in a circle, back to status quo; nothing was learned and nobody cared. Try Top Gun (1986), instead.
Talk about your resolution! The chemistry between Maverick and Charlie was undeniable! And the Goose/Iceman undercurrent still has them talking...
Ah, yes.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Just fyi, that post was the result of mixing wine and hash during the day, I think I was geting at that I've really been into movies and books were the character goes through a personal change or learns a leason, but in the end its pretty too late to fix, or the inevitable happens, he still dies, he still is poor, he still doesn't get the girl. Examples the come to mind are American History X, or the night of the living dead, the messed up way Clerks was supposed to end (he still ends up working there until he dies). If noone knows where I'm going with this I completely understand.
But with clerks 2 he realizes that his meaningless job has spurred some of the best times of his life.
In the original end of Clerks, he's murdered in a robbery, screen goes black, film ends, credits roll.
Cheery.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I like you tuffy
I think I see the problem here.
“The man of knowledge must be able not only to love his enemies but also to hate his friends.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
Yea, that was the problem, that's what happens when my roommate leaves and my cars broke, and I just sit at home by myself for 2 days drinking wine and watching Netflix
Fancy lady.

You're one to talk.
You're NOT one to talk.

Fucking what?
