Who likes them? Whats your favorite song from then and why?
I Like God Given, the message is so powerful.

i know i would love to see that
huge nin fan, pretty hate machine, broken and downward spiral are beautiful albums, and the fragile was a great effort, since then i think he kinda lost it, you can tell his voice is worn out and he doesn't put the time into his music anymore to make it real clever, there's a few decent songs on year zero, favorite song way to hard to choose, i like the becoming, that's what i get, gave up, last,
the wretched, no you don't.
saw him in 94' one of the best concerts ever! he came through in sept. i couldn't make it but if he comes through again, i'm there.

My favorite nin song is Heresy. I was just getting into my teens when The Downward Spiral came out and was having the whole "does God exist" debate with myself. This song specifically helped me with figuring out what I believed in and helped put a lot of my questions into perspective. I got to see them on the tour for The Fragile and it was/is one of the best shows I have ever seen. I would see them again in a heartbeat.

March of Pigs is pretty great. I also like Piggy. Weird how I like both songs that have the word Pig in it. Must be because I work for the police. Police

Been a big NIN fan for going on 20 years (yuck I'm getting old)... Some of my favorites are "Terrible Lie", "Eraser", "The Great Destroyer", "Gave Up", "Somewhat Damaged"

They aren't playing with Jane's in Chicago, and tickets went fast so I'm debating exactly how much I want to pay to see NIN again. I've seen every tour since The Fragile came out, so I don't want to ruin the streak.

haha, i only like a few Nine Inch Nails songs. Hurt, especially. I prefer theirs to Johnny Cash' cover, which, i think, puts me in the minority. Especially for people who aren't NIN fans.

He hasn't even tried in several years, so I haven't been listening.

Downward Spiral was perty good.

tuffy: He hasn't even tried in several years, so I haven't been listening.

exactly. he struggled with alcohol problems which i know all to well, but, it's like the booze killed his creativity.
but as much as he lost it, his early work changed my life and he will always be a music genius to me. and an inspiration to the music i try to create now.
in case you peps haven't seen it, this is good stuff, and playing guitar is marilyn manson (brian warner) no makeup. interesting side note: downward spiral was recorded in the sharon tate house where the manson murders happened and this video is filmed there.

I think it was the sobering up that killed the creativity, personally. He really seems to be doing it "by-the-numbers" last few albums. Like he sat down saying to himself, "I need to record a track that sounds like a Nine Inch Nails song."

oh ya, when some people go sober they lose that part of them to, as i said year zero has got some good electronics on it, but the slip and with teeth actaully don't sound like, i wanna do a song that sounds like nin, he's just like let's throw drums and guitar in there and maybe a little electronics, i'm tired.

I've been listening a lot to NIN recently. It's good to listen to it when I'm just pissed off (Yeah, typical crap. Bang some NIN and get over it). I can't say which album is my favorite. Here's a small list of my favorite song by T. Rez:

-We're In This Together
-Ruiner
-Somewhat Damaged
-Sunspots
-Only
-Head Like a Hole
-Down In It
-Into The Void

Maybe I forgot something. Oh yeah, kudos to Zoth for quoting Into The Void.

T. Rez?

Good lord but I do believe that killed any last vestige of interest I had in the band.

I wouldn't say his creativity is dead. Sure, his new stuff isn't as good, but it's not bad by any means. "The Great Destroyer" and "Captial G" from Year Zero are amazing songs; two of my favroite NIN.

I'm also a fan of "Every Day is Exactly the Same" (giving me a pleasant surprise during the movie "Wanted"), "Head Like a Hole," "The Hand that Feeds," and "Perfect Drug."

Also, agreed that Johnny Cash owns "Hurt"

you can bet your right testicle that i like them. i've followed everything, and i have to say, i cannot name one specific song. but the album that completely blows my mind with every listen would most definitely be "The Fragile."

all the instruments used in the production of this record is absolutely fascinating.

don't mind me creaming all over this. everything is layered.

and if you have any idea how great "Somewhat Damaged" is, you would know how incredible is is as all the instruments clash together in an epic noise battle.

I was so cute with my hate, anger black nails and big boots,I had a leather jacket with NIN on the back they called me the nin girl.I still know all the lyrics from Pretty Hate and Downward Spiral, finding NIN was the highlight of my early teen years.

Songs:

I only just got into them, so the only albums I've got are Year Zero and The Slip. Though I've been meaning to pick up With Teeth, as Bite the hand that feeds is one of my favourite songs. Any recomendations?

I like with teeth.. But I would reccommend the downward spiral or the fragile before it. Everyone of their albums is essential.

The slip is actully free for download on there website. Along with the first 9 tracks of ghost and some EP they did with Janes addiction.

I am not too huge a fan of broken though...... I would get TDS and Pretty hate machine.

Totally awesome fucking set list. Opened with 'Somewhat Damaged'. Also played some other awesome stuff they don't often play live including 'Heresy' and 'I'm Afraid of Americans'.

I am going to see them this friday and I am so excited!!

How many songs were on there set list, Kirk? I know the songs they will play when I go will be different but about how many songs do they perform?

In Chicago, they did nearly a 2 hour set, but Chicago is the only date without Jane's Addiction so I suspect he wanted to play a little longer here to make up for it. They didn't even bother with an encore, just played up until the point where they can't play any later due to union fees and city curfews.

This is the full set list. Looks like we got 4-5 songs more than they are playing on most other stops. They are playing a different set for each stop, which is great.

Somewhat Damaged
Terrible Lie
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Piggy (regular)
Metal
The Becoming
I'm Afraid of Americans
Burn
Gave Up
La Mer
The Fragile
Gone, Still
The Way Out is Through
Wish
Survivalism
Mr. Self Destruct
Suck
The Day the World Went Away
Hurt
The Hand that Feeds
Head like a Hole

All in all, a fucking fantastic tour. If this is really the last NIN tour, it was well worth it.

Be sure to bring your camera or even video camera. They have a very lax policy for recording the performances on this tour. I took 2 short video clips with my digital camera. Had I known how good the quality was going to come out, I would have recorded a few full songs.

Nine Inch Nails have been a huge influence on me. The new stuff isn't great, but generic NIN is still a step above most.

I caught the recent NINJA tour the other week as well. Got a few Fragile instrumentals and The Becoming but compared to what he was playing at the shows, it was way heavy on recent stuff. So kind of got the shaft I felt like, but again, generic NIN is still miles ahead of most else of what is out there, especially live.

Jane's Addiction and Street Sweeper Social Club were also outstanding. [Nothing's Shocking is another seminal album for me].

I was always partial to The Fragile. I always found that to be his "The Wall". The Downward Spiral was a extremely solid effort, but I always found more joy in listening to The Fragile.

I like most of his work. I've listened to most of his music when nothing else gets me through whatever's going on in my head. I can always find a song or two that gets me going in the right direction. One song in particular though always gets me:

A couple of others always cheer me up:
We're in this together
Deep
Right where it belongs
The Good Soldier
Burn
Terrible Lie
Down in it
Mr. Self Destruct
