NIN Appreciation thread.

ok this thread has two purposes:
1. to talk about your love of NIN. if you don't love NIN, start your own thread about phish or whatever sucky band you like.
2. to talk about the possible correlations between trent's and chuck's work, as well as correlations between the appreciation of said work.
post. NOW!

Insomno, you rule.
Not much to add here except that a Trent soundtrack to a film of a CP book would be interesting - something like his work on Quake, ideally. I'd play the shit out of that. I'm thinking that IM would be a good match, though not (probably) Choke or Survivor. M Manson (produced by Trent, why not since we're fantasizing here?) would be more of a soundtrack to Survivor, imo. I haven't come up yet with a Lullaby soundtrack in my head, so...
Haha, I was thinking the same thing Deca. (In regards to what Kitty said that you quoted.)
I still haven't read IM or Lullaby. =\
One of his books needs to have a movie made about it and the soundtrack done entirely by THE PAPER CHASE. (IE: Best Band EVER in the UNIVERSE.)
Oh yeah, and like, go NIN.. or something.
My brother looks like Trent Reznor. Except my brother is unattractive, and, according to many girls and some guys, Trent Reznor is very atractive.
I spent my lunchtime today listening to The Fragile (left). I'd forgotten how emotive it is. It's pure genius. Particularly the title song, Somewhat Damaged and We're In This Together. I missed them when they played a concert here a few years back. Goddammit.
Bah.

one day trent reznor came up to my house and stole my car and used it to go to chick-fil-a then he came back dropped off the car and taunted me with his tasty chicken foods. >_<
One day I wake up and I won't remember a goddamn thing...sorry nothing personal.

disx if that'd been me, i'd have insisted on being carjacked.
i didn't mean to insult phish in particular. i happen to like some phish songs. but i didn't want people to come on here just to be like, "NIN sucks! hur hur hurrrrrrrr!!" and be lamers like that. cause that's just useless.

Yey.
My favorite NIN song is ah... hrm. I don't know. Great Below and Piggy are up there, though.
BUUUUUUUUURN!
Natural Born Killers soundtrack (in the words of kl0pper)= TEH COOLIOEST YO YEA!!!!
And The Fragile= Generation X's version of The Wall.
I played the CD for my dad and he made fun of Trent, saying the guy probably listens to Pink Floyd non stop. Which he probably does lol.
But he still rocks my socks. If Trent recorded an actual full-album-cover of The Wall in his own interpretation/way, that would be so fucking cool.
But we could only wish.
i'd rather hear trent's own music. "The Great Below" is prob. my favorite song ever, although I think that the "Still" disc is a fucking masterpiece.

I love all of the stuff he does on the piano. And I love watching "The Great Below" on the "And All That Could Have Been" DVD.
He seriously needs to do more stuff on the piano. The "And All That Could Have Been" version of "Frail" is just...amazing...stunning...so damn good.
excuse me. i just thought about trent playing piano too long, and now i have to go change my panties.

that's why pretty hate machine is the best. he got a job as a janitor in a studio and recorded the raw album while he was supposed to be working at night.
SIN is the best... and burn is pretty high up there too. (pointing out sigs? check mine, then check the books of blood, then check the lyrics to sin. trent is a big barker fan, obviously).

i like hearing trent's stuff when he collaborates with bowie. they make such a great team. "the man who sold the world" cover. hell i like hearing all sorts of covers done by trent, because he doesn't just add another beat like most covers do, he actually makes something out of the song.

nope, just the only o0ne he ever did without a band. i thought that's what you meant by "trent's own music", as opposed to trent & his band's music.
chris vrenna has a lot of say in his stuff after the first album.

not really...it's still pretty much a dictatorship. it's trent's baby. the only place the band members really have input is in remixes and in live staging of the songs.

things are rustling around nin.com...don't know what's going to happen since i can't get back on their fuckin message boards. but whatever. when they open up the site again we should all take a field trip over there just for a change of scene.
in the meantime read this article about the downward spiral and this one by the inimitable meathead (who also has a message board, hmmm, maybe i shoudl check that one out too) about the new website.
if he has another tour i will be there, wetting myself in the front row. oh jesus, i can't wait.

Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism.
I did, yeah.
yep. yep indeedy. i don't know which i'm more jealous of...chuck cause he met trent...or trent cause he met chuck...
wait, *I've* met chuck and not trent, so i guess i'm jealous of chuck. so yeah.
meeting trent is like my holy grail. of course, loser that i am, i'd probably piss my pants, drool on myself, and pass out, not necessarily in that order.

I know insomnomaniac personally, and this is all true.
And I think we'd all have to change our panties if Trent and Leonard Cohen walked into a bar, sat down at the piano, and busted out into an industrial/goth-tinged rendition of "Famous Blue Raincoat."
And I don't even *wear* panties.
This is because I am a man.

there's a DD thread around here somewhere...
yeah i definitely remember trent saying something once like, there would've been five more albums by now if it weren't for doom. but i really can't say anything cause i'd probably have written at least one book by now if it weren't for this website and nin.com.

If it were not for this website, I would be done with revisions and sending it to agents.
