musical serenity
just puttin' out a feeler, does anyone else out there find something fun and relaxing about Lemon Jelly's music?
Someone else likes 'a warm place'! My day is made...
Other relaxo-music albums include Taxidermy by Queen Adreena and Roseland NYC Live by Portishead. I say includes because they're sitting right in front of me and I couldn't be arsed thinking of any others. 'She don't use jelly' by Flaming Lips is one of the most peace/unbalanced chuckle-inducing songs ever.
As for the actual topic of the post....uh, I don't know, never heard em.
Bah.
dude, how could you NOT like a warm place?
telafon tel aviv is another trance-inducer.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
various cuts from Aphex Twin ( the more Ambient Works based stuff ), UNKLE, some Saint Etienne remixes and lots of Underworld esp. cuts from the 2nd Toughest of the Infants. and Tool's 'Disposition' which leads into 'Reflection' its truly excellent.
re: NIN, a warm place. great track. so whored out in its use in Natural Born Killers.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
i just want to send out a very warm and heartfelt sentiment to you all for being of no help at all. which i guess should tell me something about L.J. no one's heard of them. oh well, i did download a couple new NIN songs based on this thread.
Johnny Cash's cover of "hurt" is a effin' masterpiece.
Anyone else feel scared when they listen to 'fitter happier'?
Actually, partly because them's some fine lyrics, but mostly just because I can:
Fitter, happier, more productive.
Comfortable.
Not drinking too much.
Regular exercise at the gym (3 days a week).
Getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries.
At ease.
Eating well (no more microwave dinners and saturated fats).
A patient better driver, a safer car (baby smiling in back seat).
Sleeping well (no bad dreams).
No paranoia.
Careful to all animals (never washing spiders down the plughole).
Keep in contact with old friends (enjoy a drink now and then).
Will frequently check credit at (moral) bank (hole in the wall).
Favors for favors, fond but not in love.
Charity standing orders.
On Sundays ring road supermarket (no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants).
Car wash (also on Sundays).
No longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows,
nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate,
nothing so childish - at a better pace,
slower and more calculated,
no chance of escape.
Now self-employed, concerned (but powerless),
an empowered and informed member of society (pragmatism not idealism).
Will not cry in public,
less chance of illness,
tires that grip in the wet (shot of baby strapped in back seat).
A good memory,
still cries at a good film,
still kisses with saliva.
No longer empty and frantic like a cat tied to a stick,
that's driven into frozen winter shit (the ability to laugh at weakness).
Calm, fitter, healthier, and more productive.
A pig, in a cage, on antibiotics.
Bah.
i'm sorry trypdwyre. i didn't realize i hijacked the thread.
chosen, who's that song by?

kind of. trypdwyre was asking about a specific band, but i think he gave up on that when the rest of us neglected to answer about that.
also relaxing to listen to for me is afro celt sound system.

I love relaxing to Miles Davis. But a song that puts me into a trance like state where i feel like I'm falling into the music (sorry if that sounds lame) is track number four on the new unreleased Radiohead album. Don't know what that song is called, and there are other songs that make me feel that way but i can't think of any right now.
You know im going to lose
Gamblings for fools
But thats the way i like it
I dont want to live forever
Nine Inch Nails - Leaving Hope. The strange non-harmonics part a minute into it gives me shivers every time I listen to it. The louder the better.
Gary Jules - Mad World. Bonus points, because of the horridness of the Tears for Fears version this was based on.
Radiohead - Motion Picture Soundtrack... now that soothes the nerves.
And countless others I have in my 3,000 strong playlist.
Coldplay - The Scientist
Serenity.
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.

Thank you valchrist for at least attempting to check out this band, which of course was what this board was for....

"a warm place" by Nine Inch Nails puts me into a trance if I play it so loud that the bass rattles the windowpanes.
