Music talk
I like this band Chappo, almost all of their songs so far are really good.
My feet and knees start hurting, but when I'm really loving the music, I don't really care. We have a really nice venue here, which looks like a big circus tent from the inside. They have seats and whenever we go there, I basically just make sure to get a seat (unless I'm in love with the band playing). It's comfy, and you always have a good view!
This is it:
But then minus the chairs on the floor.
That venue looks awesome, Imke.

PS: I got Scott Walker's "Scott" from the library. Are all his albums this corny?
Haha.. well, the early stuff can be quite corny, yes. He gets darker as the albums go on. 3 and 4 are when he started to write his own stuff, along with covering Jacques Brel material which is pretty weird, lyrically, a lot of the time. His more recent albums like The Drift are a completely different animal, quite experimental.
What were you expecting to hear from a Scott Walker record?
I want to see a show in that circus tent place!
I'll have to check the link out at home.
ok, so the show was pretty decent, I had fun.
He's definitely a little on the heavy side now and his voice isn't what it used to be. they were clever about covering it up by having a little 40-60 second break between every song to bring in a different piece of scenery and letting him change his outfit and have a breather. The staging was awesome, like i said there was basically a different piece of scenery for every song, and the set list was a few songs off the new album and a kind of greatest hits of older stuff and bringing back old set pieces, like the DRUGS sign, the political type podium and the MObscene signs. not to mention there was not one, but THREE glitter/paper/snow explosion things, which was pretty fun!
The biggest thing for me is that the band isn't what it used to be. Twiggy was there, and he's good of course, but the bassist and drummer just weren't particularly dynamic. This was particularly noticeable when Rob Zombie started, his band was a lot fuller sounding and generally more engaging. And I'm not even particularly a huge Rob Zombie fan. But that guy is around the same age as Manson and has about 3 times the energy. He was running and jumping around non stop.. they had some cool video screens with old horror movie clips and things, it was quite fun. John5 and Ginger Fish on guitar and drums were awesome.. Ginger played a drum solo which was pretty epic.
Overall I definitely had a good night, if you get a chance to check out the tour you'd probably have a good time.
That sounds sooooooo good.
I saw Manson at Big Day Out in 1999.
I know what you mean about the sore feet thing. At Muse a few years back I could hardly enjoy the concert my feet started to ache and I couldn't see the stage.
Awesome. I don't know the answer.
It's like asking Muse, "Rock music or electronic bass?"
Then they slap you for asking such a ridiculous question and refuse to autograph your vinyl copy of the Juno soundtrack.

The answer is definitely Spanish guitar.
What were you expecting to hear from a Scott Walker record?
I dunno, had no idea what to expect, except I remembered that Jarvis Cocker liked him so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Then they slap you for asking such a ridiculous question and refuse to autograph your vinyl copy of the Juno soundtrack.
wha?
not like rock music and electronic bass are mutually exclusive. at least not these days.
Exactly.

This morning Lucy and I danced around to Kiss Off by Violent Femmes. She laughed when I sang/shouted "EVERYTHING EVERYTHING EVERYTHINGEVERYTHING!"
I like Voilent Femmes.
Violent Femmes have been lily's favorite band for a couple of years.
I just came back from a concert that a Dutch band gave here, and I had so much fun! They were really great, and deserved much more of a response than they actually got from the Norwegian audience. The band that warmed up for them was a local one, and people were going nuts for them, even though they really sucked balls. So that really bummed me out, but I went up to the Dutch band afterwards and told them that they were awesome and should definitely come back again soon.
RIP Terry Callier... this has always been one of my favourite songs. Very underrated artist. Check out the album 'What Color Is Love' if you're interested.
I heard this weird old french song the other day and I can't remember any of the lyrics and I didn't ask who the artist was so now there is the mystery song that I need to find out what it's called and who it's by.
male or female vocals?
female and i want to say there was part just with male vocals. Sounded like it was from the late 1800's.
We need more than that.

That's all I got.
Jaz, that reminds me of this:
hehe hm hm him
oh man, that episode is gold
Yeah, it's one of my favorites.
Found out something interesting this past weekend, and I'm gonna start playing Shakira at every party I go to, while the chorus from this song plays in my head.

Hilarious !

welp, no Misfits show for me tonight. Boooo, stupid hurricaine.
Boo! That sucks. Hopefully they reschedule.
yeah, it's supposed to be on December 16. I hate wait!
Early Christmas present? And Halloween Trick?
Band of Horses was excellent. They played for about two hours and we were really close to the stage. They only played one new song and the rest of the set was all of their older stuff because they haven't played Houston since 2006. So good.
The opening act was called Skating Polly and it was these two young girls wailing and screaming, which was odd. They weren't very good. Then i read an article the next day and it turns out one girl is 16 and the other one is only 13. Suddenly they didn't seem so bad.
2 hours! That's quite long.
I listened to A Perfect Circle again today. I've missed the music, and I wish I could see them live. Aaargh!
Symphony of the Goddesses tomorrow! Excited!

I'm pretty sure that "Tegan and Sara" and "The Ting Tings" are the same band.

I've been listening to Muse during my work commute. The Absolution and Origin of Symmetry albums. It reminds me of good and naughty times.
i like their supermassive blackhole song because it's a great song to strip to, so i heard.
I saw Muse live back in 2009 with Silversun Pickups. It was fucking amazing.

Me too! Along with a dozen other great bands at ACL. But that was in 2010.

This song is the bee's knees. Listen to it. Several times. Loud.

I listened to it and I like that song. What else do you listen to?
"Rock" music.

YES!

New Soundgarden album, King Animal.
is that good? I haven't listened yet.. I don't have high expectations though, so it will probably surprise me. Cornell still has pretty good pipes at least.
Yes, good old Soundgarden style. I liked it.
In the car I've been listening to the Dandy Warhols album, Welcome to the Monkey House.
Good sing-a-long songs.

Haha, amazing! Could definitely be either!
