Mullholland Drive
Hi, I'm new here, does anyone have a clue what this movie is about? I know it's not new but I just saw it and have no clue what just happened. Anybody know?
Great movie, one of my fav's. The lesbian scene is nice.
Its really to deep for me to go into so...Check out this website, ie the theories: http://mapage.noos.fr/mulholland_drive/home.html
After reading around, things start to make a little sense.
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.
thanks for the link and your opinions. It was an interesting movie but nowhere near as disturbing as I heard it was. Any of you seen Bully by Larry Clark? That was crazier than that movie Kids
Yes, ive seen Bully. It was based on a real life event that happned in a town near me.
It was good, it seemed pretty realistic. cuz the way they all paniced and ran their mouth off about the murder, is how real kids would act. Ive never see Kids though.
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.
you've never seen Kids? jesus tap-dancin' christ you everyone should see that movie if not buy it.
Im DL 'Kids' right now...
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.
good job I have it downloaded as well, maybe we can discuss it after you watch it......enjoy
Naomi Watts gets me wet.
i respect your honesty, but i detest what you're being honest about.
Just finished watching Kids, that movie was fucked up.
Telly, the guy with HIV, he played in Bully, as the gang leader. At least it looked like him.
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.
i cannot believe we are holding a larry clark movie in higher regard than a david lynch movie right now. sure you can find things "more disturbing" than mulholland drive...and if that's what you are looking for, cool. but does that mean it's "better" by all other criteria too?
i'll tell you. FUCK NO IT DOESN'T. david lynch owns, reading this was a terrible thing to wake up to.
It's Lynch. It's not about anything.
*shakes head and just walks away.*
maybe i'll come back later and give my thoughts on mulholland, right now, i have to take a moment and collect myself.
I gotta say, I've seen Mullholland Drive a couple times and I just... well... I don't know. For whatever reason, i think of twin peaks.
I'm not saying larry clark is better than david lynch. mullholland drive is the only lynch film I've seen , and it was interesting but not spectacular by any means
oh yea and Leo Fitzpatrick (Telly) is the gangster guy in Bully
kids was fucked up... has anyones parents seen this movie?
i'm sure somebodies parents did and if their children were young enough they probably led a very sheltered life after their parents saw it

It's Lynch. It's not about anything. It's two and a half hour' of dialogue used as an excuse to justifty an 'artsy' lesbo scene, which is intolerable because one girls tits are so fake they look like rocks and the other girl, the naturally beautiful one, never shows anything anyway.
If you want Lynch, go see Lost Highway, at least it had that cool 'camera driving through lanes on a highway at night' intro and exit.
*wipes sweat off the forehead*
that was one hell of an 'artsy' lesbo seen, though.
Lost Highway was retarded...the only good movie with bill pullman in it was 'spaceballs'
go see Blue Velvet and Eraserhead
what exactly is eraserhead about? I've heard of it but nobody seems to want to tell me what it's about...anyone?

wow very interesting, gotta see this movie
Mulholland Dr. tells the story a failed actress who's lesbian lover leaves her and she later has her murdered. However, what it's about is cinema itself. The Club Silencio scene explains this: Everything is a recording. End of explanation.
And Lost Highway is about sexual dysfunction, but I don't feel like going into that right now.
all i know is mullholland drive let me down, worth one watch but never again
Back to getting off topic... If you guys thought Kids was bad check out Ken Park, Larry's most recent movie. It's about a million times worse than either Kids or Bully. In my country (New Zealand) its not allowed to be viewed outside of film fests and universities. Even though its extremely sexually explicit, it kinda sucks. Kids & Bully are better.
all i know is mullholland drive let me down, worth one watch but never again
this entire thread makes me want to cry.
you need to at least see it twice. don't pass it off as crap just because you didn't understand it. there is method to his madness, trust me. it's there...
michael, perhaps you think of twin peaks because DAVID LYNCH DIRECTED BOTH????
okay, i am requesting this thread's name be changed to "larry clark movies" instead of "mulholland drive" because that's all you goons seem to want to talk about anyway. and then i'll know to just stay away, because larry clark is a talentless perv, whereas david lynch is a genius.
i have no interest in watching it again 2 and a half hours of artsy crap with fake breasts
go back to your larry clark thread...have fun.
stay out of here. i dont give a fuck if you started this thread or not.
good night.
whoa down boy, it's just my opinion, i started this thread to figure out what the movie was about, i got all my answers and they add up to stupid movie
so far, no one here besides alex has even attempted to tell you what it is about. you dont know what it is about. you never will because for some ungodly reason you've already closed yourself off to any interpretation...NOW BEAT IT MUTHAFUCKA!
Don't get small_fire started on David Lynch...she'll rock you all night, as it were. She lives for this film school stuff.
I'm not saying that's good or bad.
andy
my love for david lynch started before i was even a film student ANDY.
YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME? YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT ART???
p.s. go to the guess the movie thing and tell me who that guy is. ha.
wow what a bitch
Almost every movie I see these days is so formulaic and over-forshadowed that I know everything that will happen before it does.
It's mind-numbing. Lynch is a motherfucking oasis.
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.
And who is really against gratuitous lesbian scenes ?

You know whats even worse than this movie which made no notion of sense?
THE DVD.
This is the only DVD I've ever seen that doesn't have chapters....

none of lynch's dvds have chapters...he thinks books and films are two different mediums and that films are better seen as complete things rather than broken up into sections that were not intended...he has a more eloquent statement in the straight story dvd (i think its straight story anyway...)
and yeah, its fucking annoying, but i kinda see his point
hey small fire i know we had it out over mulholland drive but i'll give lynch another chance, name a movie of his that is just gotta be watched and i'll rent it
watch mulholland drive again.
then watch eraserhead
he did eraserhead? hmm i'll have to download eraserhead i can find it at the rental store
Then see The Elephant Man, The Straight Story, and Dune.
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.
