Movies You Hate

GODDAMNIT I *LOVE* THAT MOVIE!!!
::cries::
Seriously, I can't see what's so horrible about the Matrix. I mean, it's really an incredible film. Tons of stuff below the surface. Religion, philosophy, more stuff I can't think of right now. It's an incredibly deep script.
I might be able to understand a disliking of the movie, but certainly not a hating of it. I mean, especially when you're comparing it to things like Dirty Dancing or Grease. It doesn't get any worse than Dirty Dancing.
its not horrible. it just gets progressively chees-ier each time i see it, to the point, that its laughable.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
so it's not a deep, revenge-fueled hate then? just a disliking?
The reasons I hate the Matrix:
1. I have this weird thing about pretending that certain things aren't real. The Matrix was one of these things. I've never seen an episode of Gilligan's Island, so one must naturally assume it isn't real, right?
I had that with the Matrix for quite a while, until I was in a video store and it was on a TV and I went, "Aww, shit." So I asked the clerk what movie it was, and he said the Matrix, and I started yelling at him and saying, "Dammit! You mean this stupid movie is REAL?! Dammit!" I think I scared the crap out of him.
2. Everyone likes it so much, including my computer nerd brother.
3. The first time I ever saw it was the worst day of my life: A kid in my school died, and after school I went to my best friend's house and we all curled up and watched the Matrix. Now whenever I watch it it brings back a lot of bad memories about that day.
4. While we were watching it, my friend's stupid-ass older brother kept saying lines of the movie but he'd always say them wrong, and if you made fun of him, he'd flip you off.
Mostly it's number 3. But you see, my hating of the matrix is a very deep and complex issue.
There is hope, but not for us.
yeh, rents- its just lame. my opinion- as misguided as it may be.

Brotherhood of the Wolf... I thought this movie might be an easy watch that I could enjoy for a while. Wow... too long, too crap...
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.
really, i liekd brotherhood. yes it did get too long but overall i thought it was pretty awesome
I liked the one fight scene with the Indian springing all sorts of contraptions and shit on that thing...
Then, I turned it off 10 minutes later
If God takes life, he's an indian giver.
yeah that was sick, when he whips the stone at the.......wolfish-lionish-african beast
NO ONE HATES PAULY SHORE? im distraught because no one here seems to really hate him. he is the most embarrassing person in the entire world. im embarrased for anyone hwo has seen him in a movie. so im gonna have to say that BIO DOME is the WORST movie in the whole world.
and also "chairman of the board". i loathe carrot top too.
first off i dont think anyone has mentionned him because he hasnt really been in a REAL movie that isnt mtv produced etc. but...how could you not like bio-dome!!!! lol i loved it man so fucking awesome, than again im a bit of a dumbass soemtimes, but still! FEE FI FO BIO DOME!
2. Everyone likes it so much, including my computer nerd brother.
jane, no offense, but that is about the stupidest reason not to like something i've ever heard. you're certainly not the first or last to cite it, but it pisses me off royally every time. example: i have a friend who refuses to see forrest gump. why? because everyone kept telling her she should see it, and just on principle she vowed she never would. that, to me, is just DUMB. she's missing out on a great movie.
other than that, though, because that isn't your only reason, more power to you. it's up to you, after all, what you like and don't like.
another i forgot to add: CONAN THE BARBARIAN starring ahhhnold. ohh jesus christ i HATE that fucking movie. and the road warrior. although i may give TRW another go, since the last time i saw it was when i was like ten and home alone and thought i was cool for watching a movie i wasn't supposed to, and then i was traumatized and i was a stupid kid so i wondered why. although even since then i've never really liked the whole postapocalyptic desert neo-neanderthal type theme in movies anyway.

No offense taken, kitty. It's not JUST because my brother likes it or anything. It's just that freaking everyone likes it, everyone references it, everyone thinks it is the end-all be-all of all movies, amd people are always trying to make me watch it and I'm like, no! Stop the insanity! There are better movies out there than the freaking Matrix, all right?! I think I got to the point where I was so overexposed to it I started to hate it.
Thanks for replying back to me though, I knew if anyone was going to bring the smackdown on my post it'd be you.
There is hope, but not for us.
I hate Good Will Hunting. Very overrated, like The Matrix. Not a fan of Kevin Smith movies either.
what was it you said? eat my ass mud and die? yeah.
so much smackdown to bring, so little time.

ALL THE PRETTY HORSES.
If you're thinking of killing yourself but you're too afraid to do it, watch this movie. You will do ANYTHING to stop the burning.

Ohhh, I harbor hatred. That movie made me want to get violent.
What the fuck was with that scene where Matt Damon was on the phone in that barn, then he hangs up... and the Mexican guy starts to dance? Seriously. I must've missed something.
i don't really remember...i must've blocked out the memory.

What blamed fool ever told Penelope Cruz she could act? They both deserve to be shot. Also I want to shoot her for Vanilla Sky and that one with Nicolas Cage, that war one. Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
There is hope, but not for us.
penelope cruz is good in her spanish speaking films, its when she tries at english that she is no good. it is the great mystery of our time
Screw the acting skills, Penelope Cruz is hot. Especially with that accent. I totally agree that Vanilla Sky sucked donkey balls, but the way she said "martini" in that movie blew my mind. It was a beautiful thing. Haven't seen her in any Spanish films.
Rents, please try not to be so sex-shallow and focus here!
There is hope, but not for us.
i thought vanilla sky got boring, but overall was pretty good. nothin id buy though
i haven't seen her in anything apart from this, but i thought she was good in "Blow"
yeah she was a total bitch in Blow....which was a good thing cause thats how Jungs wife was in real life
i thought it was soooooo sad at the end
Okay, I was forced to see How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days yesterday. Not even the hot guy next to me make me pretend I was having fun. What a STUPID movie. You already knew the movie back to front by just watching the trailer!!
Speaking of Matt Damon, anyone seen Rounders? It's got Ed Norton in too, so naturally, I had to buy it (as all the other Eddie movies are great). Rounders was a real waste of time. Although, the russian guy was quite funny to laugh at when he said: 'Son of Biche! I bloody wasted 17.99. Grrr.
yes, how to lose a guy in 10 days sucked.. i dont know why i thought it would be darker..maybe i thought the whole losing of the guy would cuase the movie to have some darker undertones..i didnt see many previews though so i couldnt see that it would be sugar-coated and stupid..
i dont know..that movie could have been better, as it has a pretty good premise.. they just kept it too tame, too positive, and too fucking happy.

Sorry. She is hot though. And Knox is right, she did an excellent job playing a complete bitch in Blow. Vanilla Sky sucked though. No doubt about it. Such a cheap cop-out of an ending.
I KNOW! the whole "it was all an illusion/dream" ending reached its peak with Alice in Wonderland and should have never been used again.
(Oh shit--am just now remembering that that's how my novel ends. Shit. Now I must rewrite it.)
There is hope, but not for us.
Never. Ever. Have a story end with "It was all a dream" if it is geared towards anyone over the age of, say... six.
And people went and saw this crap. And liked it. Jesus!
I heard Vanilla Sky was supposed to be amazing! Though then again, people told me that about your mother.....
Sorry, couldn't resist that. The Matrix would have been a better example.
Anger Management pissed me the fuck off. I didn't want to see it, but I kinda got dragged into it. Of course, I was already depressed/angry so yeah, I took it all the wrong way and was just like "jesus fucking christ wtf is this guy's problem this is BULLSHIT god dammit fucking this would happen to me i swear to god"
Yeah, fucking miserable experience for me. Then to top it all off it's a nice merry fucking happy ending. Aw they get married. How fucking cute. WTG wankers. Fuck off now, thanks.
Best part of Vanilla Sky, dunno if anyone mentioned this:
Fix your fuckin' face!
Hahahaha! OMG... fucking killed me. I love.
abre los ojos, the spanish film vanilla sky was based on (aka remake/ripoff) is good. penelope is in that one too, playing the same character.

Well, technically mine ends with the main character finding out that the last seven years was all a schitzophrenic hallucination, but it's basically the same principle, I think.
There is hope, but not for us.
i dont think the dream premise is all that bad.. it is rooted in philosophy..v. descartes. its just that it was just handled really really poorly in this film.. it just didnt fit in with the rest of the film, it wasn't researched well enough, and it was just executed completely and utterly wrong.
anyway..its not the idea thats stupid, its the shitty movie.
although i did enjoy the token tom cruise flip out when they were discussing his mask.

Hey Disx, I know I always do this, but I gotta ask you again: where is your avatar from? The one with the girl and the lollipop.
Wanna have the pants scared off you in 90 seconds?
Watch 'Laundry Day', my new horror short:
thats it! i demand disx has a 'this is what my avatar now is' thread.

The 'it was all a dream' occasionally works. Did anyone read those point horror books when they were younger? On the back page it always said stuff like-'Reader beware, your dreams just may become reality!'Muhahaha.
Okay, I'll grant that in children's literature (and, perhaps, a few acknowleged classics) the 'it was all a dream' plot device works.
Can anyone name any contemporary adult fiction where it works? I'm willing to listen.
Movies I hated...(and some movies I hated thateveryone liked)
American Pie (soon to be a F*CKING trilogy)
Austin Powers (All 3)
Scream (All 3)
I know what you did last summer (both)
The Others
Jurassic Park 3 (The first two I liked)
....I'm sure there are more, just give me time.
"Do you have 846 pounds of zinc? I don't!" -- The Laz.
"I was almost Six On Tha Dot. What a mistake that would have been." -- Six On The Dot
What's all this Vanilla Sky-bashing? It wasn't one of those crappy "Waaaah, it was all a dreeeeeeeeam!" endings they pass off on children. They said it was a dream and then went and discussed it for a quarter of an hour. It meant something, it wasn't just a case of "Bollocks, how the hell do we end this?".
Dammit, I'm shaking my fist at the monitor now. This is what happens when people insult films I was vaguely engaged by...
Bah.
Hey, lots of people were mildly engaged by it. It just wasn't very good is all... We have a mildly engaging story with a weak ending that was completely telegraphed a good 45 minutes before we even got to the let-down. Then, they talked about it for another 15 minutes.
I really felt that it had potential. Despite the two non-actors in the lead.
Of course, I could be way off base here...
