Movie talk
Okay, good. You guys just saved me 2.something hours.
That's how I feel about Into the Wild.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
That movie put me to sleep more than once.
There were certain parts of Into The Wild which I thought were really good, but I felt the movie was too long.
Same here, I guess. I've also been asked to give Garden State another shot. Can we talk about that for a bit? It's... overrated, right? Am I crazy?
I'm the opposite with Garden State - I used to love it, now I hate it! It makes me cringe. Tried watching it recently and I just felt embarrassed.
I haven't seen it in years, but I loved it when it came out.

Oh my God, I'm only ten minutes into I am Sam and already feel like crying.
I love it a lot, too. Embarrasing kit fact: I saw Billy Elliot the musical, and it made me cry. Twice. A fucking musical? Ugh.
I enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook a lot, will probably read the book. Also watched Detatchment, and though it's not the feel good movie of the year, I liked it a lot. Very realistic and gritty, damn is Adrien Brody fantastic as ever. A very nuanced performance.
What's wrong with musicals? They're fucking awesome.
Nothing against musicals, but have you ever cried at a musical, Mike? I barely even cry at movies.
I'm sure I would cry at the musical. I've seen the movie I don't know how many times now and I'm always on the verge of tears every single time I watch it.
Also I watched Videodrome the other day and I recorded a new version of Ben Hur that I plan to watch when I get a free chance.
I may have. I don't recall, but I remember being affected emotionally. There's a human element that movies lack
I know I've laughed my head off numerous times.
there's a song he sings with his dead Mum and holy crap.. tears.
it was a pretty great musical though, I would reccomend it if anyone gets the chance to see it.

I've always wanted to watch Videodrome.
And Ben Hur was a great read. I'd like to get sloppy drunk and watch a marathon of different ones, with some gay guy friends. Would remind me of my college days. Is that weird? Eh.
Which version did you get?
The Ben Hur is an ovation tv original. It's fairly new and what the heck Kristin Kreuk is in it! haha I really want to read the book. I think I'll by it for my nook soon.
Oh that sounds good! Kristen Kruek is so beautiful. She has to have the right director to do a good production. But basically she is a decent actress.
I've always wanted to watch Videodrome.
I have it on VHS.
Bwahahahaha!
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
Which you won't get if you haven't seen it.
It's kind of like having a crappy VHS tape copy of The Ring.

Or watching Eraserhead while eating a big overstuffed burrito.
(Which was how I saw that the first time.)

I first watched Ring on VHS and after it finished the TV was still glowing and crackling a bit and it scared the life out of me! VHS tapes are so creepy. I miss them a lot.
(Which was how I saw that the first time.)
I get it.
Sneaked a big old cold cut combo in the theater and carton of milk with my best friend at first showing of Silence of the Lambs. Almost puked in first 20 min, right in our seats.
You took milk to a movie? Eeeeewwwwwww.

It was chocolate.
You know, ice cold chocolate milk and a sub. Sounds good right? Until the photos of Buffalo Bills handy work of sliced up victims popped up, on the giant screen. Cold cut combo Fail.
All I know is I watched Total Recall the other day and Tuff's avatar makes me think of the three boobed chick every time I see it.
Hehe.
Now I'm going to think of that when I see his avatar!
Pepper has a dirty mind.

The Runaways biopic was on Film4 last night and it was ghastly. We turned it off 30 mins in. Kristen Stewart was Joan Jett so I should've known really.
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
last night, we watched it. it was pretty Great.

Honeymoon Killers next.
I am of the opinion that breasts are the most wholesome thing on this earth.
They are pretty and they feel nice and they make everyone, male or female, happy. When being put to their main purpose they provide warm milk as nourishment for infants.
name me something more wholesome and feel good than breasts?
But, triple titties are weird.
Just watched Drive again. Okay, now that I was ready for the extreme simplicity, I gotta say I really enjoyed it.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
That's still my favorite movie right now.
I'm going to see Oz tomorrow because I'm a nice girl and I'll please my friend who has a lump in her breast and wants to see a movie in 3D after some tests.
We saw The Incredible Burt Wonderstone the other day, it had its moments. It could have been so much funnier though, I feel like comedies miss the mark a lot lately. Like Burt Wonderstone was such a rubbish character for the first half but the second half was quite good.
I want to see Paperboy and Maniac by the end of the week because there's quite a lot out this Friday.
I saw Oz: The Great and Powerful. It was meh, I didn't watch it in 3D, the landscapes would've been worth it, though. I don't know what story it's supposed to be, but maybe that's because I have only read ONE Oz book.
Did your friend's appointment go okay?
I forgot about Oz. It's not my kind of thing though.
I don't know, she just had a blood test today, and she'll find out tomorrow evening. I hope so, it would be terrible otherwise.
I'm sure she'll be okay, it's really unlikely to be cancer at such a young age. It might be a cyst or something.
I'm pretty sure it's only based on the one movie. The entire book series centers around the adventures of Dorothy Gale.
The couple I read, Dorothy wasn't in. So there's that.

Really? I find that surprising.

Looks like 7 of the 14 Oz books by Baum don't feature Dorothy. I just skimmed through the list though so I may be missing something.

I read 12 out of 14, of those Oz books. Dorthy is not the primary star. She is just one of the star players.
*spoiler*
In the second book, the boy Tip was born a girl. That book was seriously weird. And the rest are nearly as kooky. I loved that series.
And remember thinking, as I read this during childhood - this would weird an average kid out.
Watching Lilo & Stitch because why the hell not?
Aww Lilo's voice is so cuute!

I could have sworn the series was called, The Adventures of Dorothy Gale.
Donnie Darko's little sister.
Makes me feel like a perv, because she was only 9 or something then, but she grew up to become hot. I think that was her in the sequel to Donnie Darko, which I will never see.
i've seen lots of people loving on that one. i haven't had the pleasure yet.
Danish people are awesome at making series and movies, and I really want to go see A Hijacking (Kapringen):

Yeah, it was stupid and really ruined the concept of what the original Donnie Darko movie was about.
Donnie Darko was amazing.

It's a prequel.

I know. I meant to say this new movie is based on the universe of the first movie. Just like Wicked was based on the movie. Not the book. The book had silver shoes not ruby. The only reason the shoes were ruby in the movie were so they'd show up more in the new color movie technology.

It's fucking awful.
