Movie talk
I'm putting together one of those 100 Movies, 100 Numbers things,
so if anyone comes across a movie with a good line that uses one of
the following numbers, I sure would appreciate letting me know.
98, 97, 96, 95, 93, 92, 91,
86, 85, 84, 83, 81,
78, 77, 76, 75, 74, 73, 71, 70,
68, 55, 52, 46, 45, 44, 43,
33, 31, 19
Here's a special sneak preview of some of them.
I still need to edit some down and I've already replaced a few of them with better movies, but it's fun to watch nonetheless. How many can YOU recognize?!
That's pretty awesome.
Danke!
So Fight Club was on IFC last night, I haven't sat down and watched it in a few years, so what the heck, right? Did anyone else notice, in that scene where Tyler is at the shopping counter, selling them the soap, that his pants are dropped halfway down his ass? I mean, his ding dong isn't flapping out or anything, but they're pulled down right to the root!
Yeah, that scene always annoys me.

Dazed and Confused might have a good line with 76 or 77. It takes place in 76 and they are the class of 77.
"I'm glad I live in the GPS era. In a different century, I would've set off to visit the other side of the village and wandered off into the mountains and been eaten by a carnivorous plant. Or discovered the Americas."

Saw Oldboy today; I think I'm falling for South Korean cinematography.

I've been wearing my pants the same way ever since, especially when I meet with clients.

Hot damn! I hadn't even thought of that movie. Thanks!
There sure is, I also watched Chungking Express yesterday. Wong Kar-Wai makes some amazing movies, I absolutely loved 2046.
Minerva got me interested in Korean cinema. There is some really good stuff out there.
Have you seen Koma? (I think it's Korean)
Also, isn't Tale of Two Sisters Korean?
I haven't, but I will.
Also, isn't Tale of Two Sisters Korean?
Yes it is, and it's creepy.
What was the remake? That's one of my favorite foreign films.
Pete, watch 2046. It's wonderful.
Ah, this movie. Yeah, I remember thinking it was pretty similar when I first saw it. It was okay. Not as good as Tale of Two Sisters.

Irina, I'll check it out for sure!
Currently watching the Batman: Year One cartoon. It's pretty good. The graphic novel is probably my favorite thing I've ever read by Frank Miller.
I'm watching The Giant - probably just the first half, if I get too tired. I've seen parts of it before on tv, but I want to watch all of it.
Chungking Express was a really good movie.
I got that free when I bought Arkham City GOTY Edition.
I think they did a pretty good job with it.
Basically every Wong Kar-Wai movie is amazing. Happy Together and In The Mood for Love are my favourites.
Btw, he's from Hong Kong, not Korea.
Oops.
I haven't seen Happy Together, I got another Asian movie, After the Rain. And drafted my own movie list aside from those from two of my classmates.
Chunking Express is superb.
I also recommend Ashes of Time.
Irina, I like After the Rain very much, the fight scenes are so well made.

I was going to see it tonight, but I'm watching Howl's Moving Castle instead. Maybe afterwards, if I'm not getting too tired.
Ashes of Time is on my must-see list, too.
I'm watching After the Rain and miss being in the woods. That was the only nice part about going to the countryside.
I guess I'll just have to wait till spring when everything looks okay, now I imagine it's pretty dreary.
Aw I really liked Howl's Moving Castle. I usually don't watch movies like that.
It's not the usual type of movie I'd watch, I was made to see Spirited Away, too, but I enjoyed it.
I'm going to have a few days of watching the less interesting movies on my list and then save those I think I'm going to like more for later.
We're watching The Legend of Hell's Gate. It's a B grade western. I'm not folloing it at all.
I guess I'll just have to wait till spring when everything looks okay, now I imagine it's pretty dreary.
Bears hibernate in the winter.
I know, but I like forests in spring, when everything is green and there are wild flowers and birds chirping. Just like in this movie.
Now we're watching Dark Knight Rises. That terrible shooting made me really not want to watch it, I'm still not sure I want to.
What's Lucy doing all this time?
She's in bed! Don't worry, she's not watching this shit.
I'm not enjoying it, so I'm going to bed too.
In a few years make sure she watches all the Disney classics!
I'm watching Amadeus. Will probably split it in two and have lunch or do my tae bo in between, it's 3 hours long.
I know how you feel. After that shooting in Connecticut I couldn't have anything with gun violence on the TV for a week or two. It just freaked me out and made me think all these terrible things about what had happened.
Also watched Reservoir Dogs. Finally.
Just watched Silver Lining Playbooks. So damn good.
I thought so too. I'm pretty sure it got terrible reviews. But I found it really entertaining and different. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper were great in it. Christina really enjoyed that book too.

Bad reviews would surprise me, wasn't it nominated for some awards. And anyways, if it got bad reviews, it was probably for some lame shit. I mean, I'm not gonna say it wasn't a wee bit silly at certain points, but it was only silly because situations involving mental illness are so unpredictable that they just seem a bit unreal.
I watched like 90% of that movie and then stopped because I realized I hadn't been paying attention for the last hour and a half and had no idea what was going on.
About time.
Tomorrow I'm watching Heat. I also want to see Blindness because I loved the hell out of that book, but I wanna cross off more from my classmate's list. 38 to go.
And then there's my own list, much longer, and another classmate's list, with movies I'll probably love. I'm not going to be surprised if I end up reading less this year. So far this year I've watched almost as many movies I saw in the whole of 2012. 27:37.
After watching it again, I think if I could force every single person on the planet to watch just one movie, it would be Mister Roberts.
Good point. And also probably correct.
The John Ford film with Jack Lemmon and James Cagney ?

The John Ford film with Jack Lemmon and James Cagney ?
and Henry Fonda!
What's so special about that film ?
