Movie talk
We watched that a couple of weeks ago! Next up in documentaries about crazy ass creepy families is Brother's Keeper. Have you seen that? I think we'll watch it some time this weekend.
Did you watch this yet? I started to a few nights ago but it was too sad of a story for me to keep watching. I didn't think it would be that down.

Not yet - Drew found another one about drugs (we're addicted to those kind of documentaries, harhar, addicted). If it's super sad, I probably won't be able to watch. Super sad stuff about old people gets to me.
Yeah it might be too much for you. What's the drug movie?

Watching Michael Almereyda's Hamlet (2000). I really like it.
"Methodonia"...pretty good, too.
Cool, thanks.

I got the 2 disk criterion edition of F For Fake today. It's frickin' great! There's a great special on the second disk that has a TON of scenes from his unfinished stuff.
If you ever wanted to see what an Orson Welles directed sex scene would look like, get this!
Plus, there's two or three bits where he shows off how funny he was. Really reminded me a lot of classic Monty Python, (I'll leave that to the individual whether it's a good or bad comparison.)
I've got this little ditty stuck in my head:
So, the teaser trailer for the new Cronenberg movie Cosmopolis went up today, and damn if this doesn't look like some vintage Cronenberg! Based on the Don DeLillo book, has anyone here read it?
I've read it. I love DeLillo and that took forever to come out.
The Bell Jar is apparently in pre-production. I haven't heard much, so I can still be excited.
I really hope they choose an unknown actress to play Esther. Just saw on Wikipedia that Julia Stiles was originally in the running. FFS!
It could be worse. (Kirsten Stewart)
I like Julia Stiles.
I liked her in 10 Things I Hate About You.
I liked Joseph Gordon Levit in that.
I liked Joseph Gordon-Levitt in all the things.
There's only a couple of movies I haven't seen him in but I remember I had a huge crush on him, get this(this should be in the embarrassing admissions&confessions thread), in Angels in the Outfield.
I was ten gimme a break.
I liked Joseph Gordon-Levitt in all the things.
God, me too.
I'm pretty sure the majority of us here have a thing for him... in a non-gay way, I mean.

I think I'm pretty gay for him.
I meant to mention earlier that it's a coincidence JGL was brought up here because I was talking about him at work with the social worker. A couple weeks back we were shooting the shit and I mentioned a few of his movies I like. She ended up see a few ( Brick, Hesher, and Mysterious Skin) and liked them. I think she's got a boner for him now too.

I've only seen him in Inception and GI Joe and liked him in those. But he just has some sort of weird look to me, like he's still got a kids head on an adult body or something. I dunno. Maybe it's those little indefinable qualities that make him stand out so much.
Also, wasn't he in some film where he was like a retarded lookout while some other dudes robbed a bank or something? I think I meant to see that movie too but never got around to it for whatever reason. Anyone know which one that was, so I can look it up again. Thankee.
Yeah, I don't really find him all that sexy. In Inception he was handsome, but still very boyish. Yeah, he's still too boyish.
Exactly! He looks like a boy still but he's wearing man clothes and saying man things. Like he's got some good-looking progeria or something. How old is he anyways I wonder. Maybe he'll grow into his looks around 30?
I don't really get it either.. he's boyish and smarmy-looking. I just want to slap that smirk off his face.
Plus he looks like he's about 5 feet tall.
He must be about 30.
It must have been hard been the third most dreamy man in inception. Tom Hardy is sooo cool. JGL is the man though. Brick was really cool.

The Lookout.

I liked The Lookout and I really like JGL. There's just something about him. 500 Days of Summer! <3 I also had a crush on him when I saw him in 3rd Rock From The Sun ages ago and he looked absolutely ridiculous there.
Dammit, still need to see Hesher!
Also totally agree with Nick, Tom Hardy is extremely cool.
He speaks a pretty good french and was good in Brick :

Sitting here watching Ocean's Twelve and it struck me. There was only 11 of them altogether in the first movie, right? So shouldn't it have been called Ocean's Ten? Why would he include himself in a collection and outside of it? For it to be Ocean's ELeven it would have to be Ocean and then eleven other people.
I've never watched those movies. Are they worth seeing?
today we watched Rocky III and IV. Yessss
Nate: There were twelve. I remember counting one time. Julia Roberts counts as one, btw.
rosie: For the sheer style and fun of those movies, yes, they're definitely worth seeing. Twelve is the worst, by far, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
I agree. 12 is forgettable, 11 and 13 are great fun.
What's more, it's based on real events. Ask Frank !

rosie: For the sheer style and fun of those movies, yes, they're definitely worth seeing. Twelve is the worst, by far, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
She's the 12th one in the second movie, Ocean's 12, yeah.
But it's still Danny Ocean's 12 which is a total of 13 people.
Maybe the casino counts as his eleventh. Like a metaphor!

Oooh, I see what you're getting at. Well thanks a lot, dick. Now I won't be able to get that outta my head next time I'm watching any of them.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
Oh yeah? They don't rob a casino in the second one, so that would metaphorically take the number back down to 10, but then Julia Roberts shows up and shoots the number back to eleven again. The problem? The second movie is called Ocean's Twelve! there'd only be Eleven of them without a casino!
They lied to us, man! They lied to us!
Went and saw The Hunger Games tonight, and I loved it. I have to go read the books now, because I honestly thought they were going to spread the one game over the three books/movies, so I have no idea what happens in the other two, and like hell I'm waiting for the other movies to come out to find out.

Gawd dammit. Now I've gotta go see it.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
I'm trying so hard not to jump on any of this Hunger Games bandwagon. But it's getting harder and harder to ignore.
I want to see a Hunger Games porno parody. I guess I'll have to wait 5 more minutes.
Same here. I wanted to read a couple months back before the movie was out and then I reverted and now I'm back to wanting to read the books and watch the movie.
Curiosity killed the cat?
Just watched it. I thought it was pretty damn good, aside from the usual problems I see in teen movies. I remember seeing Battle Royale a few years ago. It might have been better, but I have to watch it again to be sure.
I loved the main character and the actress was pretty amazing. I'm just happy there's a decent female role model in the media that's also THE main character. Society needed this, I think.
Si vis pacem, para bellum

I'm currently re-watching the american "The girl with the dragon tattoo", but despite liking it a lot, I find it to be a very difficult movie to watch. It feels so intense the entire time.
